Trogwhales were a non-sentient species of horned animals from the planet Kintan[1] in the Kintan system[2] of the Si'Klaata Cluster in Hutt Space. The species evolved over several thousand years due to mutations caused by a large dose of radiation which originated from M'dweshuu, a star located at the heart of the Si'Klaata cluster, going nova. The species was immense in size and were considered fearsome monsters.[1] Due to the threat the trogwhales posed the sentient Nikto species, who were also native to Kintan, the Nikto drove them to extinction.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Trogwhales were first mentioned in 1995 in Galaxy Guide 12: Aliens — Enemies and Allies a supplement book in the Galaxy Guide series for the roleplaying game by West End Games, Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The species were mentioned in the entry for the Nikto species, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo. They were then mentioned again in the supplement book Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds which was made for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast in 2004 and written by a number of authors.

  3. Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds states on page 86 that the Nikto drove all life on Kintan to extinction except Flora and smaller non-threatening species. Due to their immense size and description as dangerous creatures this page assumes trogwhales were amongst those driven to extinction.
