Sith undead could be created through necromancy.
- "This complex spell animates both the freshly dead and the skeletons of the carrion fields, transforming them into an unstoppable legion impervious to pain and able to transmit a necromancy infection by biting."
- ―Sorzus Syn, extract from Chronicle of Sorzus Syn
Tsaiwinokka Hoyakut, translated as Reanimated Dead from the Sith language, was a spell that could be used to create undead. This complex spell could awaken the freshly-dead and skeletons, transforming them into an unstoppable legion impervious to pain and capable of transmitting a necromantic infection through biting. Dathka Graush was the one who successfully melded spellcasting and alchemy, to perfect necromancy. Sorzus Syn expressed regret at not being able to meet him, and recorded the spell in her journals.[1]
Asajj Ventress learned this ability, bringing up the corpses of Gungans to assist her against the Jedi in the Battle of Ohma-D'un.
Behind the scenes[]
- "Tsaiwinokka Hoyakut, or Reanimated Dead: This spell is basically zombie-making, and could arguably have originated the moment a bunch of skeletons came to life in 1995's Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith."
- ―Daniel Wallace, in his endnotes for Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side
Tsaiwinokka Hoyakut was first mentioned in the 2012 reference book Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side, written by Daniel Wallace.[1] In his endnotes for the Book of Sith, Wallace revealed that the spell had been created with Korriban zombies in mind.[2] In the Star Wars canon continuity, according to a Fandom article, the spell was mentioned on the Blade of Ochi of Bestoon as the inscription "Isaiwinokka Hoyakuts" with "T" misspelled as "I".[3]
