Ulic Qel-Droma was a male Jedi Knight whose life was recounted in the Qel-Droma Epics. After Qel-Droma's Master was killed by the Krath, Qel-Droma volunteered to infiltrate and destroy the Krath. However, he was corrupted, turning to the dark side of the Force on Empress Teta, and took over the Krath alongside fellow fallen Jedi Exar Kun. Qel-Droma eventually turned away from the dark side and was redeemed by being cut off from the Force. During his time as a Jedi, he wielded a lightsaber with a powerful yellow-green blade.[1]
Behind the scenes
- "There's somewhat of a connection to Luke. As a matter of fact, Ulic is sort of an anagram of Luke. This guy ends up going totally over to the dark side. So the idea is, we take the young, idealistic hero, don't make him look like Skywalker, make him a different person, but the definite type—the impulsive, young warrior who's very sure of himself."
- ―Tom Veitch, to interviewer Ilene Rosenberg
In the new Star Wars canon, Ulic Qel-Droma was first mentioned in Nexus of Power, a 2016 sourcebook for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game.[1] In the Star Wars Legends, Ulic Qel-Droma first appeared in the 1993 comic Ulic Qel-Droma and the Beast Wars of Onderon, written by Tom Veitch.[2] Although Beast Wars was Qel-Droma's first actual appearance, he was first mentioned in Veitch's endnotes for the Dark Empire series released earlier.[3]
