- "That is the peak of Umate, the highest mountain on Coruscant. They say it's the only place on the entire surface where you can see the planet itself."
- ―Elia Kane, introducing the Umate to Penn Pershing
Umate was the highest mountain in the Manarai range on Coruscant, and by the Republic Era, the only uncovered mountain on the ecumenopolis. The mountain's body, below the plaza, was incorporated into the city-planet's fabric, becoming riddled with tunnels. Umate's peak, the centerpiece of Monument Plaza, became a popular visiting spot for tourists, and during her term of office, Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh liked to visit the spot as well.[1]
Touching the Umate was forbidden during the time of the New Republic, and attempting to do so would result in a droid warning against physical contact with the mountain.[3]
