- "I'm going to swing by the cantina and grab a drink. I hear they have an excellent band in there now. They're doing a cover of a popular song from Tatooine."
- ―A commoner visiting Tansarii Point Station, to a spacer
A musical band performed in the Bright Jewel system during the Galactic Civil War. After the Battle of Yavin, the band was comprised of three musicians, Alisia, Alitra and Mako, and two dancers, Mestral and O'choa Detera. Alisia played the bandfill, Alitra played the kloo horn and Mako played the nalargon. During that time, the band often played music and danced for the patrons of the cantinas of Tansarii Point Station[2] and Nova Orion Station, two space station located near the planet of Ord Mantell, in the Bright Jewel system.[3] The band was known to cover popular songs from Tatooine, including "Mad About Me" and "Dune Sea Special"[3] from Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes[1] and "Lapti Nek"[3] from Evar Orbus and His Galactic Jizz-Wailers.[1] Although the musicians were very skilled,[2] their lack of original songs sometimes drew criticism.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The band appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[4] The band was added to the game as part of the "New Player Tutorial,"[2] introduced with the release of the "Publish 25," a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[5] The "New Player Tutorial" featured the band in the cantina of Tansarii Point Station.[2] With the release of the "Chapter 8," on January 15, 2008,[6] the band was also included in the cantina of Nova Orion Station.[3]
