A Jedi Knight was the former Padawan of Jedi Master Silvarte who had achieved the rank of Knight by the time of the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. The Padawan possessed a particularly lumbering stance in lightsaber combat, leading Silvarte to refer to the student as one of the devotees of the "Way of the Guid"—a hulking quadruped native to the planet Tython, the Jedi Order's homeworld. The Padawan took Silvarte's mockery to heart, developing several lightsaber techniques after studying and observing the guids on Tython, and the Jedi was eventually proclaimed to be a full Jedi Knight.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Jedi Knight was first mentioned in the Codex entry for the guid in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game released by BioWare in 2011, but the entry did not specify the Knight's name, gender, or species.
