A type of Mon Calamari starship was used by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. During the mutiny on Mon Cala, one such vessel was deployed under the command of rebel Admiral Gial Ackbar, as he led an attack on the Galactic Empire's Mon Cala blockade that was preventing ships of the Mon Cala Mercantile Fleet to escape.[1]
Characteristics[]
The starship was a type of Mon Calamari warship that had a round hull and a set of two wing-like projections and dorsal structures. It had communication equipment, as well as a command bridge with similar equipment found in other Mon Calamar starships such as the MC80A Home One Type Heavy Star Cruiser. It was equipped with engines and a hyperdrive, and was operated by multiple crew members.[1]
Role[]
The starship was used for naval warfare, with one being used by Alliance Navy Admiral Gial Ackbar as his flagship on one occasion.[1]
History[]
The starship was deployed as the flagship of a task force dispatched by the Alliance to Restore the Republic to aid the Mon Cala Mercantile Fleet during their mutiny against the Galactic Empire. Once the Imperial Navy dispatched a Mon Cala blockade fleet to squash the mutinous fleet, Admiral Ackbar and his task force exited hyperspace behind the Imperial vessels. Commanding the allied forces and recognizing that a gap must be made in the Empire's blockade, Ackbar used his ship's communications to contact Fleet Captain Pysk Lila of the coaxium-carrying Aurora Flare and provided his plan.[1]
After Lila agreed to Ackbar's plan, she evacuated the Aurora Flare and stayed behind with a skeleton crew to pilot the Aurora Flare. The Imperial fleet fell for the trap, and the Aurora Flare exploded, blowing a hole in the Empire's defenses and allowing Ackbar's task force and ships from the merchant fleet to escape.[1]

The starship debuted in the forty-ninth issue of the 2015 Star Wars comic series by Marvel Comics. The issue was written by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Salvador Larroca. The issue was released in June 6, 2018.[2]
