During the Clone Wars, a Munificent-class star frigate served within the naval forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. At some point in the war, between 22 BBY and 19 BBY, the frigate participated in an engagement in the Crombach Nebula against the Galactic Republic Jedi Master Wom-Nii Gnaden. However, while the frigate engaged Gnaden, the Jedi Master, piloting his NTB-630 naval bomber, collided with the Munificent and left an impact mark on its starboard hull, which remained visible further into the war.

As a Munificent-class star frigate, the frigate was 825 meters in length, 426 meters in width and 243 meters in height, as well as possessed a command bridge located toward its forward sections, which was accessible through a turbolift shaft. It was propelled by a series of seven ion drive thrusters fortified by the frigate's hull, which enveloped over and below the engines to provide a physical shield to deflect the thrusters from all angles except from directly behind. In addition, in terms of armament, the frigate was armed with two[1] long-range heavy ion cannons,[2] two slowly maneuverable heavy turbolaser cannons, and several twin turbolaser turrets, light turbolaser turrets, and multiple point-defense guns. The Munificent was also powered by a number of energy cells, power cells, and a pair of port and starboard-mounted twin main reactors that could annihilate up to 2,300 tons of fuel per second. Furthermore, a single of the twin reactors was capable of remaining operational in the case that damage was dealt to and rendered the second reactor inoperable.[1]

The Munificent was also equipped with sensory antennas on its aftward vertical strut, and could also monitor fleet perimeters through the utilization of several light-day-ranged high-performance sensors along its dorsal surface. It also possessed with several hyperdrive generators, power trunks, a stern ray shield generator that deflected deadly energy blasts, a stern neutrino radiator and shield heat sinks, and a pair of long-range hyperwave transceiver masts which could organize communications anywhere in the galaxy. In addition, the frigate also possessed multiple power feeds, ventral superdense reactant tanks, several inertial compensators and tensor field generators that maintained the warship's structural integrity that ran along its longitudinal spines, and five starboard-mounted docking rings. Furthermore, the emblem of the Confederacy of Independent Systems was featured on the Munificent's starboard hull.[1]

Between 22 BBY and 19 BBY,[3] during the Clone Wars against the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems, an engagement occurred within the Crombach Nebula between a Munificent-class star frigate and Jedi Master Wom-Nii Gnaden. While piloting his NTB-630 naval bomber against the frigate, however, Gnaden was killed after colliding with the frigate. As a result of the collision, Gnaden's bomber left an impact mark on the frigate's starboard hull, which remained visible further into the war.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Munificent-class star frigate was introduced in the current Star Wars canon in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Complete Vehicles.[4] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the frigate, originally identified as the Tide of Progress XII, was introduced in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections, a 2005 reference book authored by Curtis Saxton.[5] However, the Tide of Progress XII was later first introduced in the current Star Wars canon as a separate Munificent-class star frigate in Separatist Alliance Fleet Starter, a 2020 supplement published by Fantasy Flight Games for the Star Wars: Armada miniatures game.[6]
