- "Droid parts
Droid parts
Repair service" - ―Business sign
A droid parts and repair shop[1] was located on the planet Ferrix,[2] at North Stairs Lane,[1] across the street from Greyble Service,[2] and near Gyo.[1] Aurebesh lettering over the entrance read "DROID PARTS", although the O in "droids" was upside-down. The sign was held up by a couple of unidentical protocol droid arms.[2] Another sign for the business consisted of red and yellow writing on a dark blue background. The top and bottom of the sign were written in Aurebesh and read "DROID PARTS" and "REPAIR SERVICE" respectively; while the middle was written in Bazeese and seemed to read "DROID PARTS", like the top of the sign.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- "I originally drew it with astromech legs but we couldn't find any spare. But protocol droid arms were weirdly abundant & look better. There is also another droid shop sign painted on the top of that shop in a new font."
- ―Graphic designer Barry Gingell on Twitter
This unnamed store was created for "Kassa," the premiere episode of the television series Andor.[2] The sign was designed by graphic designers Elle McKee and Barry Gingell. Gingell originally drew the sign with astromech droid legs, but when the sign was made, the production crew couldn't find any spare ones, so they went with protocol droid arms instead.[3] The graphic designer stated on Twitter that another sign was painted at the top of the shop[3] in a new alphabet created for the series,[3] but he was not in a position to reveals its name. It was the same script that appeared at the bottom of the Gavalox Communications sign[4] in "That Would Be Me"[5] and on a sign on Greyble Service across the street.[2][4] The name of the alphabet was eventually revealed to be Bazeese script, in the episode guide for "Rix Road."[6]
Note that the other sign mentioned by the graphic designer is barely seen on-screen; according to a vague Twitter post by Gingell, "You can briefly see the left of the sign behind the big alien guys [sic] head as they look up the street. Just a bit of red lettering."; since the post was made on September 27, 2022,[7] after the first three episodes of the series were released on Disney+ on September 21, but before the fourth episode was released on September 28,[8] and the business does not appear in the second episode,[9] that means that the scene in question takes place in either "Kassa"[2] or "Reckoning".[1]
