An eccentric entrepreneur financed an expedition into the Maw, a cluster of black holes[1] in the Outer Rim Territories' Kessel sector[2] by 3643 BBY.[3] The purpose of the expedition was to attempt to chart a course through the Maw.[1]
Around that year, an individual affiliated with one of the two rival governments in the Cold War, fought between the reconstituted Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, sent a companion of theirs to join the expedition. The entrepreneur's journey into the Maw resulted in many previously uncharted star systems and worlds being catalogued while mapping a course.[1]
