"I was kidnapped by a local group who wanted my mother to agitate for stronger trade controls in the Senate."
"You were kidnapped? That's terrible."
"Yeah, it wasn't great. My uncles found me and killed the people who had taken me, but my mother was upset when she found out."
―Avon Starros and Honesty Weft[1]

A group was local to[1] the Core Worlds planet[3] Hosnian Prime during the High Republic Era.[1] By 235 BBY,[2] the group wanted Hosnian Prime's Republic junior senatorGhirra Starros—to agitate for stronger trade controls in the Galactic Senate. To ensure she did, the group kidnapped Ghirra's daughter Avon when she snuck out of the family's home.[1] During Avon's time as captive, she was forced to speak into a holorecorder so the group could demand a ransom.[4] Eventually, Avon's uncles rescued her and killed her kidnappers.[1]

In 232 BBY,[2] when she spoke with the Dalnan boy Honesty Weft on the Outer Rim moon Wevo, Avon told him about the group that had abducted her.[1] Two years later,[5] after she had been kidnapped by the Nihil pirates, Avon was left with other abducted children. She then mentally compared the situation of being made to speak into the holorecorder by the local group to being dumped with other children like she had by the Nihil.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

The local group was first mentioned in the 2021 junior novel The High Republic: A Test of Courage, written by Justina Ireland and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[6]

  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of The High Republic: A Test of Courage to 232 BBY. A Test of Courage establishes that J-6 was given to Avon Starros three years before its events, and that Starros was given J-6 after the kidnapping. Therefore, the kidnapping and the dissolution of the local group, must have taken place by 235 BBY.
