"Take her away!"
―Darth Vader, to the troopers of the squad[1]

A stormtrooper squad was a unit of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps during the Galactic Civil War. Comprised of clones of the Mandalorian Jango Fett, the squad included at least five stormtroopers. One of the many squads that comprised the elite 501st Legion of the Imperial Military's Stormtrooper Corps, the squad took their orders from Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader.

Darth Vader orders the squad to take Organa away

"We captured this one near the escape pods, Lord Vader"
―A trooper of the squad, to Darth Vader[3]

The Human male stormtroopers of this squad served in the Stormtrooper Corps during the Galactic Civil War.[1] The squad was part of the 501st Legion, an elite stormtrooper legion unofficially known as Vader's Fist, under the direct command of Dark Lord Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine's enforcer.[2] The squad was assigned to the troop complement of the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Devastator.[4]

In 0 BBY, after Rebel agents transmitted the stolen plans of the Death Star, a new Imperial superweapon to the Tantive IV, Senator Leia Organa's CR90 corvette, the Devastator pursued and captured it near the planet Tatooine. The squad was among the troopers, who boarded the captured corvette. Darth Vader ordered the assault commander to search for the plans and to bring him the passengers alive. After Organa was captured by Trooper DV-692, the squad escorted her to the Vader.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The squad first appeared in the December 1976 novelization of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope,[5] ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster.[6] The Revised Fourth Draft of A New Hope also stated that "a squad of armored stormtroopers" escorted Organa to Vader.[4]
