A space-faring creature that was a subspecies of the summa-verminoth[2] resided in the Red Honeycomb Zone,[4] a pathway through the Galactic Barrier between the Unknown Regions and the rest of the galaxy.[5] The creature had a singlular eye, a large mouth, and numerous tentacles. While searching for the secrets of his master, Emperor Palpatine, the Sith Lord Darth Vader encountered the creature after exiting hyperspace before the Red Honeycomb Zone on his way to Exegol. The Sith assassin Ochi of Bestoon, trapped in an escape pod held beneath Vader's Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, urged him to jump to hyperspace, but Vader refused, intending to face the creature. He then proved himself able to tame and control it.[4]
After Vader tamed the beast, he made it approach Exegol. The Emperor took control of it simultaneously and forced it to strangle itself with its own tentacles, until it self-crushed.[6]
Behind the scenes[]
- "I had to make it big and huge, period. I didn't measure it, it had to look good on the page. And yes, both Vader and Palpatine was controlling the beast using The Force in the same way Obi-Wan can influence weak-minded StormTroopers."
- ―Raffaele Ienco
Raffaele Ienco was instructed to make the summa-verminoth a huge creature. He did not nail down any specific measurements for the creature, instead stating the main concern was ensuring it looked good in the comic.[7] Some fans took to claiming the creature was over 7 kilometers tall, but Ienco stated that was probably too large.[8]

How large is the Summa-Verminoth sub-species depicted in these pages? Also, did Sidious and Vader use mind control or telekinesis to overpower the Summa? Or maybe both? Thanks for your time!")" Just for reference, debaters widely claim that the beast is 7.4 kilometers tall (to put that into perspective, Mt. Everest is 8.8 kilometers tall). Would you regard that as anywhere near accurate? Or is it not in that ballpark at all? Just a rough estimate.")" (backup link)
