A traveling air rodeo that featured thrantas was owned at one point by a female owner. An animal rights group kidnapped the woman who owned the rodeo, planning to starve her for a week. They did this to show her how the large, winged thrantas felt when they nearly starved during the transportation process due to the lack of sunlight necessary for photosynthesis.[1]
After the rodeo's owner was captured, some well known individuals in area were asked to help find the owner.[1]

The traveling air rodeo first appeared as part of an adventure idea in Rodeo Thranta, an article written by Jeff Quick as part of the Creature Feature series of articles for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game that was published on Wizards of the Coast's website. The article was released on December 12, 2002, with the adventure ideas being usable by gamemasters at any time after thrantas were first used in air rodeos, which happened before the destruction of the thrantas home planet, Alderaan.[1]
