- "The Republic seeks a single, unified government to maintain peace throughout the galaxy, and the Jedi have been reduced to nothing more than a tool to make it happen."
- ―Darth Bane, to Darth Zannah
The Unification Campaigns were a series of conflicts that took place early into the Golden Age of the Old Republic in between 1000 BBY and 900 BBY. The Galactic Republic's Judicial Forces, led by Admiral Lune Banjeer and his successors, fought ably in this conflict, achieving notable victories at Vondarc, D'rinba, the Klina Marches, Korvaii and the Dandrian Ring.
Prelude[]
- "There will be many people across the galaxy who are opposed to this new legislation. Some see Valorum's efforts to reunite the Republic as an attempt to reestablish Senate control over worlds that have declared their independence… or worlds that were just about to."
- ―Valenthyne Farfalla, to Johun Othone
In the aftermath of the New Sith Wars, Supreme Chancellor Tarsus Valorum proposed the Unification Policies,[2] a set of legal guidelines and recommendations meant to help the reunification of the Galactic Republic.[3]
After the Unification Policies were enacted, the Galactic Senate was allowed to enforce the regulations of membership in the Republic.[3]
This new legislation had the effect of drawing many worlds back into the web of Republic influence,[2] an act that many groups saw as a form of bullying, as they wanted to keep their star systems out of the Republic. As a result, nearly one hundred small separatist movements scattered across the galaxy rose up against the Republic.[3]
The Campaigns[]
- "Each time radicals strike against the Republic, the Jedi Council is called upon to take action. Resources are wasted on quelling rebellions and uprisings, keeping their focus away from us."
- ―Darth Bane, to Darth Zannah
Following the enactment of the Unification Policies, sometime between 1000 BBY and 900 BBY, the Galactic Republic conducted a series of conflicts, known as the Unification Campaigns, in an effort to bring the galaxy back under its control.[1]
The Galactic Republic's Judicial Forces fought ably in the Unification Campaigns of the 900s BBY. They were first led by Admiral Lune Banjeer, a distinguished veteran of the Ruusan campaign, and later by his successors.[1]
The Judicials achieved notable victories during several battles, including a battle at the planet Vondarc, a battle in the D'rinba system, and a battle at the Klina Marches.[1]
The Judicial Forces served gallantly during a confrontation on the surface of Korvaii that ended the Melusi Uprising. They also fought with distinction at the Battle of the Dandrian Ring, bringing a violent end to the Belderone Contention.[1]
Aftermath[]
- "But why must the separatists always fail? We could help them succeed without risking exposure!"
"If they succeed, they will gain support. Their power and influence will grow. They will become harder to manipulate and control. It is possible they might even become strong enough to bring down the Republic itself."
"Isn't that a good thing?"
"The Republic keeps the Jedi in check. It maintains control and imposes order across thousands of worlds. But if the Republic falls, a score of new interstellar governments and galactic organizations will rise. It is far easier to manipulate and control a single enemy than twenty." - ―Darth Zannah and Darth Bane
Some time after the Unifications Campaigns, the Judicial Forces went on to play key roles in the Mandalorian Excision of 738 BBY, the Battles of the Black Delve in the 690s BBY, and the Utor Shock of 602 BBY.[1]
