A New Hope editions....[edit source]

Hi... an abridged "young readers edition" of the Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker was published at the same time as the original novel.

In the UK (Sphere Books), the original paperback had a cover with a white background, and the Young Readers edition had a red background. I searched on the internet and found this reference:

Here's an image of the UK cover:

Might be nice to add this the the novelisation entry.

Centerpoint Station[edit source]

Hi, by questionable I meant - is it anywhere written, Han Solo actualy saw or even know about Centerpoint before A New Hope? If not, I'm not surprised he reacts that way when first seeing Death Star I. So, it's still POV unless is canonized in some source, he had previous knowledge. Cheers. Btw read Centerpoint Station talk page under Continuity Headache - somebody already explain very same situation there.--Jedi Marty 11:53, February 25, 2012 (UTC)

  • Thank you for your reply. Well, I was giving some thoughts about what you wrote to me and I partly agree with you. However going back through Han's biography and what I remember novels I read about him, first you learned a lot about Centerpoint was during Corellian Crisis in 18 ABY. Although it was there centuries before it has "no particular meaning" and frankly I don't think people from Corellian system even care (why should Han?) about purpose or in this case size. With a bit of stretch I could compare that to planet repulsors hidden and discovered during same crisis. Han wasn't archaelogist, you know to go after wonders of galaxy, although it was in his home system :). And it's nowhere stated (like you said) he knew about existence of Centerpoint before seeing Death Star I for the first time. It's really questionable when he learns about it's existence (surely before 18 ABY). That's why I point to NPOV. So we can only speculate and debate or like you said going thru logical conclusion based on canon. Where is that borderline between those two? Btw I noticed logical conclusion vs speculation and assumption is many times source of disputes here among users. But I'm glad you brought that up.--Jedi Marty 21:32, March 2, 2012 (UTC)
    • Hi Asithol, I'm surprised by your reply. I already put this thing behind.

Well, I still don't see any contradiction or even need for retcon, though I agree with all facts you wrote. However it's still your POV, which I respect, but you know per wookieepedia policy POV is not allowed to be included in articles. I'll explain why I don't see any contradiction further. First of all let's get into account Han skepticism f.e. you know he thought about The Force as some kind of hokey religion that time. Next, what is common knowledge of people in the galaxy how usually big space stations are and what Han considers common knowledge by his experience and travel? Btw. you know it's different when you read or learn about something and actually see that thing.

Now, let's break down that particular scene: Luke Skywalker first says: it's a small moon, then Obi-Wan Kenobi reply: It's no moon, it's a space station, then Han reply with his already mentioned skepticism: It's too big to be a space station. So first thought was Luke's: Death Star 1 is to be a small moon. If you compare even small moon with space station, you'd logically (Centerpoint is exception) doubt something first thought to be moon, to be actually space station (also see how Death Star 1 resemble small moon in shape? - hence Luke's first thought about it). More, Centerpoint Station wasn't in common knowledge a you know it was a mystery for people in IU, except for people, who lived there. And like I wrote before it wasn't common size of space station either (TCSWE describes that as Enormous space station). That I think explains Han's skeptic reaction and that's why I don't see any contradiction here. Btw. who is Allen, you mentioned on the end of your post and his relation to our discussion?--Jedi Marty 15:13, June 13, 2012 (UTC)

Hutt Citation[edit source]

Hiya Asithol, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I was away on holiday and without internet access so was unable to see any edits on my talk page. To answer your question, I believe I was attempting to cite the Databank Hutt article when it existed at the time. I think I tried copying the citation from another page but I think I failed in that goal :( But anyway, I'm pretty sure I was using the Databank at the time. Darth Batrus 19:03, March 15, 2012 (UTC)

Talk Page[edit source]

We've never seen a need to create a page for it. Allowing the restarting topics months or years after they've ended can make navigating the page by looking at dates tricky and, even more importantly, it makes archiving pages a true hassle. Just don't do it, please. You're more than welcome to start new threads on whatever you want that follow Talkheader, but don't post in dead threads. Re: Galactic Standard notation[edit source]

Hello, Asithol! To be frank ("I must be Frank, Your Majesty."), I didn't even remember adding that to the article. I did check Order 66: A Republic Commando Novel just a minute ago, and it seems my interpretation was clearly in error. Thanks for pointing that out! Feel free to correct the article. :) --LelalMekha (talk) 08:47, April 1, 2013 (UTC)

Naming policy[edit source]

Hello -- I've started a CT thread at Forum:CT:Naming policy: minor change to definite/indefinite article usage based on your proposed changes to the naming policy. Hope you don't mind that I went ahead and submitted the proposal. As you said, it's a minor change, so I'd expect it to pass shortly. Cheers, —Silly Dan (talk) 19:36, May 30, 2013 (UTC)

Reversion[edit source]

Certainly. The reasons were:

  1. Adding a real-world correlation. Things in the SW universe should not be equated to their real life counterpart. Laws in the SW universe are not necessarily the same as ours, and should not be treated as such.
  2. Adding dates in parenthesis - using parenthesis is a generally discouraged practice.
  3. Altering the formatting around "Look Sir, Droids!" As an article/short story within the magazine, the name should not be italicised.

Hope that helps. - Sir Cavalier of OneFarStar.svg(Squadron channel) 07:15, August 29, 2013 (UTC)

The point I was making is that the information is not relevant at all to the article in question. Law in the SW universe is not analogous to our own, and pointing out similarities or differences is completely unnecessary. For that reason, I have again removed the sentence. You are correct over the formatting issue, and I apologise for misreading the coding. As for a the "discouraged practice" - its not codified in the MoS or LG, true, but the inclusion of any information in parenthesis is generally preferred to be either removed, or rewritten to eliminate the need for parenthesis. I have also corrected the "Gentech" error. - Sir Cavalier of OneFarStar.svg(Squadron channel) 10:10, August 31, 2013 (UTC)

Recent Edits[edit source]

Hello Asithol, the comment is there to illustrate the confusion between the two characters. It is also there through a process of elimination of human female expanded universe characters that have been identified as being present in Jabba's throne room during that specific event. Jess, Mara Jade Skywalker & Laudica have all been accounted for whereas Melina Carniss has not.

Also can you please direct me to the policy where short story and song titles are mandated as being in italics and why that should exclude music videos? Bo Shuda (talk) 09:05, December 15, 2013 (UTC)

  • Shouldn't quotation marks only be placed outside the period where the sentence begins with a quotation mark not when the quotation starts in the middle of a sentence? Bo Shuda (talk) 09:08, December 15, 2013 (UTC)
  • Hi Asithol. If you are going to continue to change appearances/sources between italics/quotations and vice versa may I remind you that Wookieepedia policy only requires MLA for citations. Not the Appearances & Source lists or article text. I think you may need to take your position on this to the forums to have the Layout Guide/MOS amended to specify that short stories and song titles should be in quotation marks as there actually isn't any policy mandating what you are doing; only the citations that appear in the Notes and References section. Also of note is that MLA is virtually non-existent internationally as Harvard & NPA are the preferred citation methods for scholarly citations. It makes it extremely difficult to adequately cite if the citation method (ie. MLA) is not even freely available. Bo Shuda (talk) 08:05, December 24, 2013 (UTC)
    • The reason I brought it to your attention is that it appears that even the adminship disputes what you have been doing, with this edit in particular. I feel that it is your responsibility to pursue it with them, not mine. Bo Shuda (talk) 09:42, January 4, 2014 (UTC)

Dominus[edit source]

I reverted your edit because that sentence serves a purpose—I was trying to give context to the other sources mentioned in the article. Personally, that's something I've done in my articles for a long time. It's not intended to give any information on the sources themselves, but how the character relates to the sources. The BtS mention is meant to tell the reader that Dominus receives just a mention in those sources, or an entry in the CSWE, which directly relates to the character and I think is worthy of being in the BtS. IFYLOFD (Enter the Floydome) 02:07, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

  • Listen, I completely understand where you're coming from. If you want to take that part out, I'm not gonna make a big deal about it. IFYLOFD (Enter the Floydome) 01:25, December 23, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Deletion question[edit source]

Hey Asithol. In response to your inquiry, the decision of whether a non-fanon/vandalism article gets deleted is not strictly limited to community voting; any article that clearly violates any of the site's policies is subject to deletion by a member of the administration. Specifically for your "errata" article, it was in violation of WP:TRIVIA—list articles, of in-universe or real world information, are generally discouraged; they do exist, but they are considered more as exceptions than as a general rule. Any errors in OOU media can be listed on the corresponding article on the product, though whether an error is too trivial to merit mentioning is definitely up for debate. If you disagree, you're welcome to start a Senate Hall thread about it—that's just my two cents. Hope that helps. CC7567 (talk) 02:06, September 4, 2014 (UTC)

  • This is a warning to you to stop pushing this issue. CC7567 acted perfectly within the bounds of the deletion policy by interpreting this article you attempted to create under the Wookieepedia:Trivia policy; that is to say, its substance is trivial and not deserving of an encyclopedic article here on Wookieepedia. Neither he nor any other administrator is required to take such an article through the Trash compactor process. A quorum of a half-dozen administrators presently in the Wookieepedia IRC channel unanimously supports the deletion of this article, and that's the way it's going to stay. Let it go. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 22:33, September 9, 2014 (UTC)

Moving articles[edit source]

In the future, please do not try to move an article by copying the contents of one page to another. The proper way to move a page is to use the move function, which can be found as a small tab at the top of the page in Monobook, and as the third tab in the edit drop-down for the Wikia skin. If the function will not allow you to move the page, an administrator would have to handle moving the page. The reason that pages need to be moved in this fashion is to preserve the edit history of the original page, which would be easily lost if the text was simply copied from the original article to the new page.--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest.svg (Greetings) 15:27, November 17, 2014 (UTC)

Tag![edit source]

I've never noticed that! Yes it was a typo, as I bought one of these myself at the event, and it is certainly not 4" by 25" LOL. I just found mine and it is about 4" by 2". Adamwankenobi (talk) 05:50, June 23, 2015 (UTC)

Pipelinking[edit source]

Hey Asithol, for future reference, please be sure place anything outside the pipelink within the double brackets. I.e: Luke's should be Luke's. Note your mistake here. Thanks, JangFett (Talk) 04:16, November 10, 2015 (UTC)

  • "This seems to be pretty common practice throughout Wookieepedia, especially when pluralizing links (i.e. one typically finds Jawas rather than Jawas)." That's what you should do. JangFett (Talk) 03:51, November 17, 2015 (UTC)

Escape from Darth Vader[edit source]

Please take a look at your objection to Escape from Darth Vader as soon as possible. Tofty responded to it back in August. Thank you. 1358 (Talk) 12:54, January 30, 2016 (UTC)

Thanks![edit source]

Hi! I just stumbled upon your profile and I noticed that you said you liked my handle, thank you so much! RFP[edit source]

Hi Asithol, I know this is a bit late but I happened to see your requests for unprotection on WP:RFP and would be curious to know if there's any need to modify the templates in question. Widely used templates are generally protected to avoid large-scale damage by vandals (caching and stuff can ensure the vandalism is visible even long times after it's reverted) so I'm somewhat hesitant to unlock the templates in question. Cheers, 1358 (Talk) 22:43, February 27, 2017 (UTC)

Stop removing the underscores from infobox template titles. Those are to remain as part of the native code. Thank you for your cooperation. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 13:45, July 25, 2018 (UTC)

Please stop removing the redlinks from the Han Solo at Stars' End article. The The Han Solo Adventures article is for the compendium paperback title, not the series. Currently, we have no article for the Star Wars: The Han Solo Adventures series — that's what the redlink is for. In the future, it would be better for you to ask questions first before reverting something rather than making the mistake of presuming you know what you're doing. Twi'lek businessman[edit source]

Hi. In my experience, it's never been considered appropriate to deliberately add a redirect over a pipelink, regardless of where either takes the reader to on the page. In all of the recent TOR status articles, pipelinking to video game through "massively multiplayer online roleplaying video game" has been preferred, including the failed nomination for this article. I'm going to fix the redirect again. Please don't revert it. Thanks. Fan26 (Talk) 16:50, September 9, 2020 (UTC)
