Ganch Edit

Just an advanced warning as I see you uploaded the Ganch concept art from Hodges' DeviantArt site. Don't add it to the article or it will just get removed. There isn't enough information in the article yet to support it. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 01:50, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I supposed so but unfortunately it is already to late; I already added it. However, I am currently adding to the Behind the scenes section so I will remove the image with my next edit. --C-3P0 01:52, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
I've already added a Behind the scenes section as you'll notice before you added the image, and I've already removed the image as well. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 01:54, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
Well, I've already seen your edit; however, Hodges also wrote some information in the "Artist's Comments" on DeviantArt, like that Pablo gave him the name. I'm going to add this. --C-3P0 01:56, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
Good catch. I totally missed that bit. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 01:57, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Decide Your Destiny Codes Edit

Hi there! I saw that you posted all the codes on the talk page of Decide Your Destiny: Way Of The Jedi discussion page. Would you be so kind as to post the other codes from the other books if you have them? Thanks in advance.-- 01:08, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

  • Unfortunately, I do not have the other codes yet. --C-3P0 00:42, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

Oh. Sorry to hear that.-- 03:49, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

Interlang styling Edit

Hi, can you poke me in IRC, as I'm interested on discussing about the interlang styling on Wikia skin. (: –Tm_T (Talk) 14:43, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

HotCat still misbehavingEdit

Sort of the same thing except not quite. Would it be possible to maybe add something that stops it from submitting if an edit removes more than X number of bytes? Just as a ballpark number, if a page had an interlanguage link to every one of the 23 foreign wikis, and that page had a name that averaged 10 characters across all languages, removing the entire existing interlanguage section and not replacing it with anything would take off 440 bytes. So maybe set up HotCat to not submit an edit and put an entry in a log if the edit would remove more than 500 bytes. I'm not a programmer, so I don't know how hard that would be, I'm just throwing an idea out there. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 00:13, August 5, 2011 (UTC)

Again, I'm sorry for any bug occuring. To tell the truth, I cannot say why this particular bug occured. I checked the part of the code where the error has occured and there is already a security check in place to prevent a bug like this. HotCat checks the loaded page with the length of the page as given in the page history here and there has to be a 100% match or otherwise the edit is aborted. Furthermore, HotCat prevents any edit from taking place if the length of the page right after the loading as well as right before the submitting of the change is smaller than five bytes.
It could be that Rorret does not have a current version of HotCat or that there is something I overlooked. In any case, I added another check against too short pages and will develop a logging system, although this may take some time. Have a nice day, C-3P0 03:47, August 5, 2011 (UTC)

New thingEdit

Now it's removing defaultsorts. Hasn't blanked a page in a while, though, so that bug seems to be squashed. Also, the {{FA}} template has been eliminated, so if it would make it run more smoothly or quickly to remove code related to identifying that template you can do so. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 02:37, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for telling me about the bug, it was very easy to fix it. And it is good to know that HotCat no longer blanks the pages.
HotCat is able to automatically recognize whether a page is a featured article based on the Eras template in that language. Currently, it supports the language codes de/es/pl/pt/ru/fi/sv and will remove the FA template for these languages only. If an article in another language is a featured article, it will also update the Interlang template accordingly.
Unfortunately, HotCat sometimes makes mistakes, eg. when the FA status is not written in the eras template but just on the talk page. However, the recognition should work in most cases, and the FA template is always removed. Do you have a link to an edit where it didn't remove the FA template?
Also, if you know language codes that have featured articles in addition to the ones above, please tell me about it so that I can add HotCat support for them as well.
Have a nice day, C-3P0 03:39, August 6, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, I misread your post; I have now removed any FA template related code and HotCat is now only using the Interlang template. --C-3P0 04:02, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

Black SquadronEdit

Hello C-3PO, it turns out Black Squadron and Black Eight Squadron's interwikis are not very accurate. Black Squadron's Spanish interwiki is accurate, however the Jedipedia link is to de:Black-Eight-Staffel (Black Eight Squadron) instead of de:Black-Staffel (Black Squadron). However on Jedipedia Black-Staffel correctly links to Black Squadron. Definitely more understandable human error. Again, good work though. Hanzo Hasashi 14:56, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

  • Thank you for the notice; that is a typical human error that I have now corrected. Have a nice day, C-3P0 15:14, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

What's up with this?Edit

I don't quite get what this is meant to do. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 00:05, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

  • The problem with external links at Wikia is that Wikia does not allow the Google bot to crawl them. Instead, they only let interwiki links and Wikia sites to be crawled. I talked with Yako from the Polish wiki and we set up an automatic redirection via the Polish wiki. I know that this is not the ideal solution but it was the only one that seems to work. I am sorry that I have not informed you about it because I did not think it would be that important. Should the traffic become too great, we will of course switch back to the direct links. To keep you updated, we are currently in the process of contacting the other Wikia Star Wars wikis so that they can use the Interlang template as well, if they want to. I hope my changes did not cause too much trouble, C-3P0 00:14, September 1, 2011 (UTC)
    • And I forgot to mention, by having the automatic redirection, HotCat can also use the edit summary again. Since the Wikia interwiki link points to and since it is not possible to put external links into edit summaries, we can only link to via an interwiki link redirection. Have a nice day, C-3P0 00:21, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for cleaning up the appearance of Star Wars: Knight Errant (comics). When I added the release date for the TPB, I couldn't make it look right, every change to the rowspan/table I made, only made it worse and added more bars and columns were there shouldn't be any. MrEvers 03:49, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

You're welcome. I was wondering why the table looked so strange so I corrected it. It's good to know that I did the right thing. Have a nice day, C-3P0 12:54, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

Interlang GA Edit

Hello C-3PO, could you consider perhaps making interlanguage links show the good articles in addition to featured? On Jedipedia, the interwikis show both good and featured article interwikis alike. Also on Wikipedia, the same thing is done with interlanguage links showing both good and featured article links. Hanzo Hasashi 18:52, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

  • Hi Hanzo, that's a very good idea! I already talked to the sysops so that they can update the MediaWiki files. Once they have done that, I will update HotCat so that it also supports GA articles. Have a nice day, C-3P0 20:27, September 29, 2011 (UTC)
    • Darth Culator has now updated the Interlang template and the MediaWiki files so that they support Good Articles. Following that, I have run the HotCat bot and all articles now show the Good Article icons for German and Spanish articles. I am currently contacting the admins of the other wikis so that they can also update their Interlang templates. Thank you again for the great suggestion and have a nice weekend, C-3P0 21:15, October 1, 2011 (UTC)

TOR extractsEdit

I gotta know how you're getting those audio files. I've been itching to dismantle TOR since the beta and have yet to find any decent tools for it. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 22:36, January 6, 2012 (UTC)

Cabbel interwiki Edit

Hello C-3P0, Cabbel is also a GA on the Russian Star Wars wiki, though on here it doesn't reflect that. Can you accordingly make the changes? Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi 23:10, February 13, 2012 (UTC)

  • Hi Hanzo, thank you very much for telling me about the error. HotCat did not recognize it as a good articles because the {{eras}} template was written in lowercase and HotCat was only looking for {{Eras}}. However, it is working now. Please tell me of any other problems you encounter. Have a nice day, C-3P0 06:03, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
    • Good job. It would appear that several of the quality articles on that wiki are not recognized as well, just from taking a look. I'm assuming it's for the same reasons. Hanzo Hasashi 02:59, February 15, 2012 (UTC)

HotCat bugs Edit

Hey. There's a couple of bug reports at User_talk:HotCat#Odd_bug. One is several months old, but still worth looking at; the other just occurred today. Since you don't seem to be watching that page any more, I thought I'd ping you here. —MJ— Council Chambers Friday, March 23, 2012, 20:26 UTC

Program issuesEdit

Hey, I was wondering if you could pop on IRC sometime if it's convenient. I haven't been able to run your program for a while, and I'm not sure why. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 16:23, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

  • So, yeah, never mind. When I probed around a bit, I noticed that 0.2 and 0.3 wouldn't run but 0.1 did, and they were all built for the same .NET version, and the only apparent difference was that 0.1 had a .config file alongside the main .exe. I copied that over and poof, it works. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 17:08, April 16, 2012 (UTC)
    • Glad you figured it out! I will release the 0.4 version soon, and hopefully won't forget to copy the .config file next time. ;-) --C-3P0 17:34, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

Your program has been great for dialogue that we know about, but it would make all our jobs easier if it was possible to search for things. For example, Hylo Visz apparently has no speaking part, since there are no voice files with her name on them, but she gets talked about. Putting in a search feature, or (my preference) a general-purpose batch extractor so I can just pull out the entire string tree and search it externally with something like grep would be fantastic. Thanks. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 01:06, April 30, 2012 (UTC)

  • Yes, that's a great idea! Writing a batch extractor is definitely a lot easier than implementing a search functionality; and once all those files are extracted, even Windows Search will be up to the task. I'll keep you posted. --C-3P0 09:29, April 30, 2012 (UTC)

CVI recognition Edit

This person is a Wookiee Leader!
This user has been named a Wookiee Leader
for their effective organization of a large-scale
project or effort within Wookieepedia.

For putting in the time and effort to help showcase our site at CVI, you deserve a huge thanks from all of Wookieepedia. Especially coming all the way that you did, I'm especially impressed with your contribution to our presence there. Many thanks for your dedication. Excellent job. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 04:26, August 27, 2012 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much for that award, Toprawa, it's an honor! I had a blast at CVI, I met Leland Chee for the first time and got to talk with many of the authors and artists. Now I am looking forward to Celebration Europe 2 as that will be at my front door. ;-) Have a nice day, C-3P0 (talk) 04:30, August 27, 2012 (UTC)

Darkstaff Edit

Hi C-3P0, I notice that you have just added some information from Star Wars: The Old Republic to the Darkstaff page. I want to ensure that the article is fully updated in relation to this appearance and I was wondering if you could clarify whether the Darkstaff actually physically appears in the game? If so, would it be possible for you to get a screenshot of it for us to put in the article? Thanks. --Jinzler (talk) 11:06, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hi Jinzler! In the game, when you are walking through the Arcanum, there are a few artifacts on the way. They are not part of the story or quest, just for people interested in the lore. It took me a while to find a recording of the mission, here is one: [1] Just skip to 4:01:20 to see the Darkstaff. In the background, there is a red obelisk behind Lord Tagriss. When hovering with the mouse over the sign next to the obelisk, the following text appears:
CATALOGUE ID: 426-609-19752
CLASSIFICATION: Sith artifact "Darkstaff"
DESCRIPTION: Staff-like object created by an unknown ancient
Sith. Reportedly imbued with numerous fantastical and damaging
abilities. Rumors of object's sentience remain uninvestigated.
INTERACTION WARNING: Do not touch the object. Do not speak
to the object, even if it seems to speak itself. Do not acknowledge
or interact with the object mentally.

I did take a screenshot of that obelisk but I do not know enough about the Darkstaff to be sure if it is in fact the Darkstaff. After all, in the article page, it says it is only 4cm wide and not an obelisk. Can you confirm whether that red obelisk is in fact the Darkstaff? If so, I can gladly upload a screenshot, though the quality won't be too good. --C-3P0 (talk) 11:24, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

    • Thanks very much! By the looks of it, the obelisk is not the staff itself and is presumably some kind of receptacle for helping to store the staff, but if you could upload a screenshot of it then that would be amazing. Thanks again. --Jinzler (talk) 14:54, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
      • My pleasure! Had I known this earlier, I would have taken a larger screenshot. Now I can't go back to the Arcanum anymore. :-( Anyway, feel free to place it in the article wherever you think it fits: File:Darkstaff Arcanum SWTOR.jpg. --C-3P0 (talk) 17:52, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
        • Nevermind, looks like Cade Calrayn found a much better screenshot, even though it's tiny: File:Holding the darkstaff.png. I'll put my image up for deletion. --C-3P0 (talk) 17:54, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

Hey your bot recently made an edit on Tales from Jabba's Palace. I have the "inuse" and "wip" templates up on that page. Fortunately, I caught the edit before I tried to publish a new one and edit conflicted. So, I thought I would tell you so that this doesn't create problems with other people in the future. If there is anyway to prevent the bot from editing an "inuse" page I would recommend it. If not, I completely understand. Thanks, Fe Nite (talk) 20:40, August 7, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hi Fe Nite, thanks for contacting me! I do not think that it makes too much sense to prevent HotCat from editing an inuse article, since we do not have an "edit queue" for HotCat, but all changes are done immediately. You must be very lucky to have HotCat editing your inuse page; I do not think this happens too often. Don't worry if you miss an edit by HotCat and revert the change. Sooner or later, another user will check the page with HotCat and fix the interwiki link later. Have a nice day, C-3P0 (talk) 10:36, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

More bot stuff Edit

  1. Please check and see what caused this bug.
  2. The bot has for a while linked to off-Wikia wikis in the edit summary via the Polish wiki ("pl:de:", etc.). However this no longer works because somebody created a Polish Star Wars wiki on Wikia a while back, and so "native" Polish interlanguage links now lead to instead, leaving your edit summary links broken. To my knowledge, there is no longer any way to actually link to the off-Wikia wikis, as I think all languages that exist off Wikia now exist on Wikia as well. It may be best to not link at all in such cases when editing on Wikia (i.e. just print "de:Page title" instead of de:Page title); this also has the benefit of saving space in the edit summary, allowing more to be fit in and making it more useful.

Celebration Anaheim Edit

Hey C-3P0. I just saw your message in the Celebration thread. I missed that you signed up for the Wookieepedia table - apologies! Glad to have you there. I'll be sending out messages to everyone who signed up this week in order to put together a table schedule.

There is something I want to make sure you are aware of, though, because this will be different from previous Celebrations that Wookieepedia had a presence at. Wookieepedia didn't register its own fan table. Instead, it's part of the Wikia Fan Village. To make a long story short about what that is - Wookieepedia will be the only wikia with its own dedicated representatives at a table, while the rest of the Wikia Fan Village will be for Wikia Staff to promote other Star Wars wikias, to run programming, and so forth. Wookieepedia isn't detached from that, though. It's one of the tables within the Fan Village. It's just the only Wikia community that has its own table.

One of the other communities we're promoting is, as it's our German language Star Wars wikia. Because of that, and because this is the Wikia Fan Village, there can't be any promotion of non-Wikia websites, including I'm told that has had some promotion at the Wookieepedia table at past Celebrations, but because this is part of the Wikia area, won't be able to promote at the Wookieepedia table. Additionally, those who are working the table will be given t-shirts to wear. These t-shirts promote Star Wars fans on Wikia, so they also have the Wikia logo on it, meaning those at the fan table will be promoting Wikia as well.

I'm telling you all of this because I know the history of as it relates to Wikia. If you're going to work at the Wookieepedia table, and we're absolutely happy to have you, I just want you to know what you should expect in terms of Wikia promotion and branding, and how you won't be able to promote

That all sound OK to you? I'm going to need to know for sure that you're OK with Wikia and that you're willing to promote Wikia, since the table should be worked by people who are positive about both Wookieepedia and Wikia. If so and you're still up for working at the table, I'll include you on my emails about it. Thanks! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:07, April 6, 2015 (UTC)

  • Hi Brandon, in case you did not see it, I responded on your talk page. --C-3P0 (talk) 01:07, April 7, 2015 (UTC)
    • Glad to hear that. Thank you! What's your t-shirt size? Hopefully we can still get you one of the Wookieepedia-specific shirts (apologies again for missing that you signed up). If not we'll still have a t-shirt for you, it'll just be more broad and about Star Wars fans on all of Wikia. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 01:10, April 7, 2015 (UTC)

HotCat problemsEdit

Hello! May I ask You to help with HotCat bot incorrest functioning at Ukrainian Star Wars Wiki? It deletes] all interwiki. Can You help to correct it? Sightsaber (talk) 09:54, May 14, 2015 (UTC)

Hello! HotCat bot removes links on encyclopedia from the Interlang template. Please fix this bug. Sightsaber (talk)

Celebration London Edit

Hey man, I started a discussion about plans for Celebration London, and I just wanted to check if you had any input. Thanks, Corellian PremierJedi symbolThe Force will be with you always 18:37, May 10, 2016 (UTC)

  • Yes, I'll be at Celebration London but I'm the only one from Jedipedia there, we won't have a booth there. Nevertheless, if you are interested in meeting up, let me know. --C-3P0 (talk) 12:35, June 12, 2016 (UTC)

Jerba in Insider #98Edit

Hello. As of September 20th, 2009, you added Star Wars Insider 98 to the list of sources of Jerba. I've been reviewing the issue and cannot find any reference to a Jerba. Maybe you could consider specifying which article in particular features a Jerba, please? Thank you, Skippy Farlstendoiro (talk) 18:01, September 12, 2016 (UTC)

  • It isn't directly mentioned but in the article Galaxy Builder on page 20, Roger Christian talks about the creatures in front of the cantina, and from the cross-sections book we know that that is a Jerba. --C-3P0 (talk) 19:11, September 12, 2016 (UTC)
