Motti appearances

Just thought I'd let you know: I have Tag & Bink Are Dead (he plays a prominent role in this, but it's non-canon), Star Wars 1, Star Wars 2: Six Against the Galaxy, Star Wars 3: Death Star (all three versions that I have are from the Hasbro comic packs, but that shouldn't make a difference), and The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader. When you need them, let me know. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 15:50, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Could this be the chosen one?

This user has been nominated for this month's Wookieepedian of the Month award!

Please review this user's entry and voice your opinion.

--T-Rex1 19:52, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Actually, he is not one of the current nominees, T-Rex1. Additionally, I believe Chack has won the award on a previous occasion, making a second win unlikely. --Imperialles 20:00, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
    • Imp says it best. If you are asking me, well, then I'm flattered, but as Imp says, I've already won. Thus, it'd be best to give some other users who haven't been so lucky a chance to win it. Chack Jadson (Talk) 22:42, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Motti info from Tag and Bink

Alright, I figured it'd be better to leave you a message here. First off, Tag and Bink were on the Tantive IV and managed to take stormtrooper armor from two stormtroopers that got knocked out (one by a mouse droid; the other by either Tag or Bink's foot). Some Imp (probably Praji) finds them and orders them onto the Devastator, which heads for the Death Star.

So the two (still disguised) are walking by all these turbolifts (one is a Big Boy), and Motti happens to be walking toward them. All three of them have their heads turned, so Motti bumps into the two of them (as the comic notes, "thwap"). Dialogue is as follows - note that it's not clear if Tag or Bink is talking, so I'm going to call them "Stormies 1 and 2" (even then, it's difficult to tell who is speaking, so I'm really just guessing):

  • Stormie 1: "Excuse me. Sorry about that."
  • Motti: "Watch where you're going, soldier. Have you any idea where you are?"
  • Stormie 1: "Yes, sir. We're on the Death Star."
  • Motti: "You're on my Death Star. And as long as you are on it you'll be alert at all times and watch your step. This station is the ultimate example of Imperial might -- and while you are on it you will show it and me the proper respect. Is that understood?"
  • Stormie 1: "Yes, sir, but in our defense, these helmets are awfully difficult to see out of. Perhaps a lighter tint on the lenses, or a greater field of vision would help make us more efficient."
  • Stormie 2: "Yeah."
  • Motti: "Oh, I'm sorry. I had no idea." (moves to side of Stormie 2 while Stormie 2 is still looking straight ahead) "So am I to understand that if I'm standing in this position, you can't see me at all?"
  • Stormie 2: "Nope, not a thing."
  • Motti "smak"es Stomie 2
  • Motti: "Then I suggest that you learn to pay more attention to where you're going!" (Motti storms off)
  • Stormie 2: "That's it. I'm outta here!"

Later, Tag and Bink (still incognito) are standing guard at the tractor beam generator that Obi-Wan deactivates. They get in trouble with Motti in the conference room, as follows:

  • Motti: "You two are confined to quarters until further notice!"
  • Stormie 1: "What did we do?"
  • Motti: "You let a feeble old man shut down a power coupling less than ten feet away from you, and you did nothing! If Lord Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin had not wanted this to happen, you'd both be dead for failure of duty. Consider this a slap on the wrist. You may leave." (waves them away)
  • Stormie 2: "Yes, sir."

And that's it. Just a note: I got this from Tag & Bink Were Here. Motti just so happens to be on the back cover (see here). I'll check The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader later this afternoon. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 17:22, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Motti info from Rise and Fall of Darth Vader

First off, the conference room scene, pages 143-145:

"After returning from the Tatooine system with Princess Leia as his prisoner, Vader and the hollow-cheeked Grand Moff Tarkin entered a Death Star conference room where a meeting was already in progress. Admiral Motti, the senior Imperial commander in charge of operations on the Death Star, General Tagge of the Imperial Army, and five other high-ranking Imperial officials sat around a table and listened as Tarkin announced that the Emperor had dissolved the Imperial Senate, and assured them that fear of the Death Star would keep the local star systems in line.
"While General Tagge maintained concern that the Rebel Alliance might use the stolen Death Star plans to their advantage, Admiral Motti snidely asserted tat any attack against the Death Star would be a useless gesture. 'This station is now the ultimate power in the universe,' Motti said. 'I suggest we use it.'
"'Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed,' Vader cautioned. 'The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.'
"Sneering at the Sith Lord, Motti said, 'Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerer's ways, Lord Vader. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes or given you clairvoyance enough to find the Rebels' hidden fort —'
"Motti stopped speaking and reached to his throat as Vader made a pinching movement with his own gloved hand from across the meeting room. 'I find your lack of faith disturbing,' Vader said.
"'Enough of this!' Tarkin snapped. 'Vader, release him!'
"Although Vader answered only to the Emperor, it was the Emperor's command that he serve Tarkin on the Death Star. 'As you wish,' Vader said as he lowered his hand, releasing his telekinetic grip on Motti's throat.
"Gasping for air, Motti slumped forward onto the table. Tarkin said, 'This bickering is pointless. Lord Vader will provide us with the location of the Rebel fortress by the time this station is operational. We will then crush the Rebellion with one swift stroke!'"

Next, after Vader's failed interrogation of Leia ("Her resistance to the mind probe..."), pages 149-150:

"Just then, Admiral Motti approached Tarkin and informed him that the Death Star was finally fully operational. Tarkin looked to Vader and said, 'Perhaps she would respond to an alternative form of persuasion.'
"'What do you mean?' asked Vader.
"'I think it's time we demonstrated the full power of this station,' Tarkin said. Turning to Motti, he commanded, 'Set your course for Alderaan.'
"'With pleasure,' Motti replied with an evil smile.
"Realizing what Tarkin intended, Vader surveyed the man with new respect. The Dark Lord had done many horrendous and unpardonable things, but it seemed that Tarkin — at least in this situation — was even more diabolically inventive. However, Vader had one concern with Tarkin's scheme. 'Alderaan is one of the foremost of the inner systems,' Vader said. 'The Emperor should be consulted.'
"'Do not think to challenge me!' Tarkin snapped. 'You are not confronting Tagge or Motti now! The Emperor has placed me in charge of this affair with a free hand, and the decision is mine! And you will have your information that much sooner.'
"Vader had long suspected that Grand Moff Tarkin was insane, but it was not until Tarkin had addressed him just then, without a trace of fear, that Vader was left without a doubt. Vader said, 'If your plan serves our purpose, it will justify itself.'
"'The stability of the Empire is at stake,' Tarkin said. 'A planet is a small price to pay.'"

And that's all I could find. Nothing new. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 13:35, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Moradmin Bast

Hey Chack, are you familiar with any extra sources that showed Bast. Expanding his P&T is one of my goals for the nom but I'm seeing very little information about him and I squeezed traits of him that was shown in the DS novel, CCG, and in A New Hope. I'm aware that you're doing Motti and was wondering if you seen any Bast info that showed up in his sources. JangFett Talk 17:07, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

List of -ooine Planets

I would appreciate if you put the list back. I'm trying to make a Good Article, and I just picked up a page off the Wanted list. I did nothing wrong. Why was my article deleted? Gmalek 00:59, 18 July 2009 (UTC) P.S. I spent two hours on this article. At least explain why my article was deleted. Thank you.

  • On the wanted list, it said EXACTLY "List of -ooine planets". Why was it deleted? Gmalek 01:03, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
    • Here's a question. How do you create a category? I'm trying to work on the overpopulated categories, but I don't know how to make a new one. Please help me, and thanks with the list. Gmalek 01:11, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the help Chack Jadson! --Mando1300 20:24, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Although users try, users can't always be completely and gramatically correct. And it is also a job for users to find errors and fix them. But what if a group of users united together, and did nothing but search for these errors? Each page inspected by a user? Doing no editing but grammar and spelling? No merges, wookee-fying, or categorizing.

I present: WookieeProject:Grammar and Spelling! Not only would it improve articles dramatically, it would give users who don't know much about advanced editing something to do, so they don't feel left out. I would head the project, and allow users to sign up. I would make the page, create the goals, etc...

So what do you think? Don't you want to see a Wookieepedia with users inspecting every page for mistakes? Also, it would help with users coming together to help each other out with goals. Message me on what you think. Gmalek 20:55, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

How About This

This was my second idea: WookieeProject:Planets! Planets are a huge part of the Star Wars Universe. The Project would be doing these things:

  • Erasing 'unknowns' from the lists
  • Turning the planets on certain planets into a chart instead of just a list
  • Expanding stubs
  • Getting planet articles promoted to Featured Status
  • Hunting down images for planets
  • Completely erase all grammaticl mistakes

How about that one? That one is a good one, to me. Gmalek 21:16, 18 July 2009 (UTC)\

  • Really? I realize that is a user's job, but it obviously isn't working. Can I PLEASE open up the project? I won't let you regret it. PLEASE? I know it will benefit Wookieepedia. If it doesn't or something isn't going your way, I won't fight you deleting. Please just think about it. Gmalek 21:32, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey Chack, if you have time, could you review Bel? It requires one more AC vote, and its relatively a small article. Also, I'll look over your remaining Bast objections. • Hey Chack, just to let you know, I undeleted two pages you'd deleted with regards to the recent TEA updates (Post-Riantius period and Post-Indecta period). I did this in order to move the pages to the new titles, so as to preserve the page histories. Cosmetically, except for a couple redirects, it's the same thing as you did except for the preserved page histories from the old pages. I didn't think it was a big deal, so I didn't contact you beforehand. That said, if you feel this was a violation of your administrative autonomy for some reason, please contact me via e-mail. Hey Chack, could you remove my Maridun GAN from the nomination page. While I thank you for voting for it, CC recommends that I should expand it. • All's mostly well, I just have lots of school work and the like. Also, I would like to point something out regarding the Mara Jade article while I'm still here. It says that the holocron (the one that got stolen in Mysteries of the Sith) was being carried on a Correllian Corvette owned by the New Republic. I'm beginning to wonder if that's correct, since in this video, toward the 1:45 mark, it actually looks like the pirates have a Correllian Corvette, and the Republic has a Nebulon frigate. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me. ---Ping(JediCommando) 14:59, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Het Nkik

Hey, Chack. I just found a wider version of the image you used in Het Nkik article. On that image you can clearly see an Ugnaught, which means that it cannot be from ANH and is instead from ROTJ. Wizards obviously made ab error of assigning that image to Het Nkik character. I leave it for you to reflect it in BTS. MauserComlink 15:33, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

  • I'm more partial to it being a Snivvian or Nimbanel in the background. Notice that Yoxgit was the only ugnaught featured in ROTJ and he wears a purely red jumpsuit. The character you're referring to in the background seems to be wearing a white robe of sorts similar to this Unidentified_Nimbanel. Also the Jawas look suspiciously like the Jawa's featured on the podracing circuit in The Phantom Menace. Either way, we need to clarify this point before placing pure speculation into articles. Wizards is notorious in doctoring photos. Pabr Oebris 03:35, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

I'll try to catch you on IRC some time to discuss working on the article, although this week may be a little tough for me. Between now and then, I'll try to look into figuring out the legitimacy of the appearances. CC7567 (talk) 06:15, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

  • If you get the chance, please try to get on IRC sometime tomorrow (Mon, 10/12) so that we can discuss the "Notable members" section; we need to establish some sort of limit, as I really don't think creating a section for (or even mentioning) every single trooper is necessary. I won't be on in the morning, but I should be on for the rest of the day. If not, I'll try to catch you later in the week. CC7567 (talk) 08:46, October 12, 2009 (UTC)

Mainly "The Deserter"—just the inclusion of three sentences for one single episode should be enough to indicate that something's wrong, as I'm sure he was featured more than that—but in the end, both episodes basically need expanding. I would recommend that you try and watch the episodes again and include every relevant detail in the article. I would even recommend reading through Darth Trayus's work so far on the battle articles to see what the accepted level of detail for TCW articles is. However, I'd also like to point out that with constant TCW appearances, Grievous isn't holding up very well to FAN Rule 5 of stability; I myself no longer feel that I can dedicate the time required to keep rewriting Grievous every other week. If you therefore feel capable of handling the updates yourself, then there shouldn't be a problem, but if not, you might want to consider nominating it for a place in the FA purge at the next Inqmoot and renominating it once TCW has finished and its lasting effects have been neutralized. Vil Dance

With regard to Vil Dance's rank, calling a Lieutenant Commander "Lieutenant" would be grossly inappropriate seeing as the rank directly below Lieutenant Commander is "Lieutenant." In common usage, one refers to Lieutenant Commanders as either that or as "Commander" for short in the same way a Rear Admiral is verbally addressed as "Admiral." Lieutenant is not an abbreviation for Lieutenant Commander.--SOCLcomm 18:17, January 30, 2010 (UTC)

  • I suppose that makes sense, though I feel inclined to point out that your example about Veers supports my point. The issue with Dance's rank would be equivalent to calling Veers "Major Veers" rather than "General Veers." It has nothing to do with addressing someone by their full rank as it does with using a suitable abbreviation. I see your point regarding the out-of-universe perspective, but it being Behind the scenes and thus inherently out-of-universe, not to mention the precedent established by the verbal address of most, if not all characters in universe to the shortened version of "General" for Major General, "Admiral" for Fleet Admiral (e.g. Ozzel, Piett), "Colonel" for "High Colonel" (e.g. Drost), and so forth makes it, I believe, worth mentioning, especially in light of the fact that most trivia/behind the scenes sections generally carry a great deal of useless drivel. For instances, the page for the new battle carrier in the Legacy series once has a comment about how a ship that "carries battle" doesn't support the idea of a less-intimidating name than Star Destroyer - drivel. This, at least, points out what appears to be a misunderstanding of military rank and address on the part of the authors (look at the Nova Stihl page for another example of that regarding uniforms).--SOCLcomm 18:02, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Inexpugnable FAN

Hey, just to let you know I've looked into your concerns for the Inexpugnable FAN and tried to address them. Check it out! Thank you! Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith -Just shy, not antisocial: You can talk to me!- 18:29, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, Chack. While I was doing minor research on N-K Necrosis in the Grievous article, I noticed that Grievous has {{Expand}} tags in his P&T, as well as the "Grievous Intrigue/The Deserter" section. I have also noticed a few {{Fact}} tags in Grievous' succession box. I just wanted to let you know about these. If you can't access the two TCW episodes, is currently streaming them. Currently, I see a lot of information missing. :P JangFett (Talk) 05:41, February 6, 2010 (UTC)

But it's impossible for a game cutscene not to be a source!
