Your sig Edit

Why? What do you mean? Try what?--Dionne Jinn (Valita täällä) 16:20, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
  • Because your sig currently links to redlinks. Create User:Dionne Jinn/sig and put [[User:Dionne Jinn|Dionne Jinn]] [[User talk:Dionne Jinn|Talk]] into it. Do something similar on your other wikia accounts (making sure the pages link to the correct one for that wiki) and then set your signature (in preferences) to Dionne Jinn Something to say? and it should show the signature properly. It was reverted because it's trivia. That kind of information shouldn't be in the article unless there's some kind of official reason for the coincidence. Any article that has that trivia without an official correlation is against guidelines. Also, "Sue" is a common English name. "Suu" is just as likely to be a StarWars-ised spelling of "Sue" as it is a reference to the word "mouth" in Finnish. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 19:39, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Celchu Trial Edit

Hey Dionne Jinn. I was looking over your Celchu Trial nomination and at a quick glance, I noticed some issues that you should take care of before anyone starts an in-depth review. There are a number of problems with spelling, grammar and syntax. I understand that English isn't your native language so I would suggest you run the article through a spell-check and then ask someone for a copy-edit. I would recommend Master Jonathan as he is a good copy-editor and has polished up a few FAs in the past. If you have any other questions or need help, leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Cylka-talk- 00:02, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

I'll do that. Thanks for the tip. Since the article is actually a translation from Finnish article it has some grammar and other structural problems that follow the translation process (I'm well aware of that but having read it throug thousand times in both English and Finnish I'm becoming blind to my own mistakes). I write more fluently when I write English directly and don't try to translate into it.--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 10:41, March 1, 2010 (UTC)
  • Olet eksynyt väärään wikiin =P In the meantime, you could ask Master Jonathan to copyedit your nom for spelling mistakes and comma usage. Cheers. --Xd 16:43, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Spelling Edit

We use American spelling. I know that some spell check programs do not distinguish between the two versions very well - for example some claim that whilst is another version of while. If you should come upon a situation like that, simply use the more "American" version, which is while. As for defense/defence, defense is the correct form. I would also suggest looking at our list of spellings. Some of the words listed there simply show the versions we prefer. I hope that this helped and let me know if you have other questions. Cylka-talk- 22:26, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

  • If you want, I can take a look at the article when you are ready. I teach English as a second language in Europe and so I have become very good at spotting the two variations of words. Cylka-talk- 22:38, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

I don't see how me replying on my page will alert you any more conveniently or quickly, but I can do so if you wish. Jonjedigrandmaster Jedi symbol (We seed the stars) 22:33, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

      • Well, it's important to remember that just because something is on Wookieepedia doesn't mean it's right. It's very possible the Heliesk version is just incorrect. If you feel confident about what you've read from the sources and have translated into text in the Mutiny article, be bold and stick with what you think is right. Re: "Speculative answers" Edit

Let me take a look at the articles and see. But before you worry, when talking about the Wiki answers "speculative answers" I meant that someone had asked if Palpatine had a family; the answer was yes, but that he had probably been taken as a baby to be raised as a Sith. That was an extreme case. I have most of the sources so give me a couple of days and I can let you know if it looks like there is original research. Cylka-talk- 22:03, March 25, 2010 (UTC)

  • I've glanced at the sources and your article and I don't think you should worry about "original research." The reason that all of the articles differ is because the sources offer different view points. Just make sure that in the Bts of the article you are writing, you talk about these discrepancies and which viewpoint you chose to write about. Cylka-talk- 01:36, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Caamas Document Edit

Heyo! That's a good question. I've always assumed that it's the Caamas Document. If it is, you're right about artistic liberties having been taken, 'cause it's totally a datacard in the story. I just can't for the life of me figure out what else Borsk would be holding that looks like a scroll and is important enough to be on the Specter of the Past cover. Plus I was stymied as to what other image I could use for that section of Garm's article. I showed the image to Havac, who's an admin, and he seemed OK with it. Menkooroo 13:33, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

Celchu FAN Edit

Hey Dionne Jinn. I'm sorry that it has taken me this long to get back to you. I will review your FAN within the next day or two. Please don't feel that you are being ignored on the FAN page or that it is personal. Unfortunately, the Inq is somewhat slow since the time and effort that needs to be put into making sure of the quality of the articles is a bit draining. Usually the process takes a couple of months, if not longer, especially for new nominators. I hope that this won't discourage you. Thanks. Cylka-talk- 20:19, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

  • Sure. I'll take a look at it a bit later on. That way we won't have any edit conflicts since I usually open up the editing window when reviewing an article in order to correct any minor things I find. Cylka-talk- 18:48, April 19, 2010 (UTC)
  • I've taken a quick look at the article and it reads much better now. The reordering has helped tremendously. If you think that you are going to work more on the article tonight, I'll continue with a thorough review a bit later. So far, so good! Cylka-talk- 19:04, April 19, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I'm aware of it as well. The whole ShoutWiki server is down at the moment, any wiki around there doesn't work. The IRC server is down as well. But as far as I know, that's only temporaily and it should work after some time. --DARTH SIDIOUS 2 (Contact) 18:31, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

    • About interwikis, well, they are still a little problem. Wikia hasn't agreed to change them to ShoutWiki, but at least the German Jedipedia changed its links. But surprise surprise, it isn't a Wikia wiki. But let's discuss more about them when Jedipedia is up again and we can go edit there. --DARTH SIDIOUS 2 (Contact) 19:18, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

At a quick glance, the linking is pretty lacking. There are articles for the most obscure subjects, like parents on the Wook. :P So once you have gone through the linking, I'd gladly go through the rest. Cheers. 1358 (Talk) 21:11, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, firstly, I suggest you get someone to copy-edit the thing for linking and comma stuff. :) Here are my objections:

    • I don't think so. There is really not that much info about it in the first place.--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 22:14, December 25, 2010 (UTC)
      • Should there be one? If there is enough material for it, then go ahead and create it. :) 1358 (Talk) 17:02, December 30, 2010 (UTC)

Re: It being my speciality Edit

Hey, how's it going? I looked up Cloak of Deception, Outcast, and Inside Ep 1. From what what those sources say, the Justice Court building and the Galactic Courts of Justice Building are the same building. What I've done is make the Justice Court building a redirect for Galactic Courts of Justice Building for simplification. Also I've removed the image request because neither Inside Ep 1 or The Clone Wars Campaign Guide have an image. I'm not even sure why Campaign Guide is there since I couldn't find where it mentions the building so I removed that source. I also went ahead and sourced the article under a new History section. As a side note, Outcast also mentions the Ninth Hall of Justice. There is no article for it but it could have two possible meanings. Either it refers to a literal Ninth Hall (courtroom) inside the Justice building or it refers to a level of the court for example the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals. From the context I'm betting on that it means a courtroom not court level so I made a note of that in the article as well. Hope that helps! Coruscantfan 22:35, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Copy-edit Edit

Sure thing. I normally reserve copy-edits for the review pages, but I'll take a quick look. At a glance, it looks like a "Members" section would really be helpful, to talk about the five individuals separately who were part of the group. Ref four needs to use {{Cite web}}. Would Galactic Empire be an affiliation, even if it's "former"? Other than that, I would suggest going through the article to check for proper linking (none to redirects), as well as checking if proper context is provided to each and every subject you link to, and general checking of spelling and grammar. I'll be happy to go through specifics with you once it's nominated. CC7567 (talk) 19:15, August 16, 2012 (UTC)

You know, I've been wondering about that myself since I first discovered the project some time ago. Also my activity level changes a lot from time to time and I haven't wanted to tie myself up with anything I can't be sure to see through. FAN page reviewing Edit

Hey, Dionne,

I'm writing this to you on behalf of the entire Inquisitorius. At our recent meeting, we discussed the current lack of non-INQs who are actively involved in reviewing on the FAN page, and we decided that the best solution was to simply appeal to people to review more. This first paragraph is being sent verbatim to a whole bunch of people, but the following one is being written specifically for you.

You're a good FA writer, and I always kind of hoped you would come back after you disappeared following your writing of Celchu Trial. It's always been an unwritten suggestion that users who nominate articles for FA status should reciprocate the reviewing by reviewing others' FAnoms, and since you're a pretty prominent FA writer these days, this is my appeal to you to review others' FAnoms. Reviewing also helps hone your own writing skills. We're trying to breathe new life into a somewhat-stagnant FAN page, and we'd love to have you join in the revolution. Cheers, and have a great day! Hand of Thrawn Edit

To be honest, I think you're heading in the right direction since you're placing the datacard in historical context. If I was reviewing the article, I would be looking for details relating to the interest spawned in the datacard as you've provided. My general article writing tip is to never worry about word count until after the article is written. If it heads to the GAN over CAN, then that's where it should be. - Sir Cavalier of OneFarStar(Squadron channel) 22:08, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

I understand perfectly Edit

I know, I know. Bad choice of forum. I have too many quizzes this week. I had to much caffeine this evening. And I was trying to kill two birds with one stone. But I have already left a message for Toprawa to close the Tc if he desires to do so still. You are correct, it isn't the right place. Actually, new developments are on the Tc, if you could please take a look. It involves the IRC thing that everybody was hinging arguments on, so the reason I have issues with letting templates be moved because someone says, "I got approval on IRC," is now seemingly justified. (Hint: look at Thunderforge's and Trip's quoted comments above the Voting header.) I actually wouldn't mind having the GG template changed if it was done appropriately. And I would support moving it with only a day of discussion on the template talk page. Not through hand-wavy IRC that we only have one person's word for and now seems like it never actually happened. —GethralkinHyperwave 10:11, July 15, 2013 (UTC)

CT:Should there be an overhaul of templates? Edit

This is a discussion on letting a single user, such as myself, start a personal project to make broad-sweeping major changes to templates without notice to the community and as I see fit, having such changes protected and non-revertible without consensus track to reverse them. Eh... that's not forbidden, as vote-farming is (since WP:SOCK actually does forbid vote-farming), but it's kind of discouraged. Most people on IRC will review things if you ask, and asking an Inq or an AC to review an article that's only one or two votes from passing is generally fine. Cade StupidRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 21:54, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I haven't really been privy to the particulars of the practice or what is considered appropriate/inappropriate, since I have not initiated any consensuses until recently. I had been told by an admin once that the objection was for lobbying for a particular stance. However, my understanding has been broadened just recently to encompass the fact that leaving messages for inviting comments from users for consensuses is considered spamming. —GethralkinHyperwave 01:33, July 19, 2013 (UTC)
    • Lol, I wasn't implying that you were, I was explaining my own post to your page about a consensus. Apparently, it was faux pas. —GethralkinHyperwave 13:47, July 19, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Do I mind Edit

Yeah, real-life's been a bit full recently, so I haven't had as much time to be on the wook, I'll get to the objections hopefully now or later. Commander Code-8 You lost the game! 22:08, July 23, 2013 (UTC)

Good to know Edit

Thanks for the advice and information. I didn't think of that. 16:20, July 24, 2013 (UTC)

  • Jinn, you just gave me a guide to getting around the politics of Wookieepedia. Taking a stand against the irrational protocols and legalism got me blocked already. That is why I said I wouldn't go back to contributing to article talk pages. I asked for a lightsaber color on the KB, and someone told me to take it to the article discussions. I just need information, I asked for it, and they told me to take it somewhere else. I've gone through long and frustrating questions and debates over whether you should heed timestamps! Now I have chosen to shut up, and in some ways it is my protest, to show the policies that I protested discourage productive editing. Of course I would bring things to the proper articles! But you see, Jinn, there are too many editors jumping for a rule or one they happen to choose to enforce or made up or whatever. Thanks for another tip to get around it all. I will keep seeking data. But take a step back and realize you had to give directions on how to get around rules for information on Wookieepedia. Besides...I already tried article talks with this particular question. I deleted the post after my block ended as penitence where I really did break good rules. The KB is where it should be, if someone will answer. I'll try some things though. Thanks for the advice. 05:18, July 26, 2013 (UTC)

All too real... Edit

Jinn, my point is to be more than careful, but to stay out of Wookieepedia's way. I need data. The wiki has it. And that's it. I will be cautious, but I've observed you have to stay off of the site to stay altogether safe. I know this wiki's strengths and weaknesses enough to keep out of this enterprise and leave to others. Not to say I am not grateful to this wiki. Thank you for your contributions. With my intentions, one must be very cautious and should stay outside of the community when you are only appreciative but not a fan. Thanks Jinn for your help. Try not to fear the system. Just don't trod on it. Star Wars is more than this. However, this knows much of Star Wars. It is very good, and has a reputation to be proud of. 20:33, July 26, 2013 (UTC)

Organa's Ceremonial Necklace Edit

Hello Dionne Jinn. Recently, I've been working on the article about Organa's Ceremonial Necklace. As you can see, some of the information in the BTS comes from an article written in Finnish, since the prop itself was of Finnish make. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no knowledge of your mother tongue—except a few swear words. Could you please, whenever you have time, take a look at it and see if there are things that could/should be added to the BTS? You'd do me a great service. :-) Regards. --LelalMekha (talk) 15:38, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much—provided you'll let me return the favour. I'll see what I can do with that. :-) Have a nice evening! --LelalMekha (talk) 19:24, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit Edit

Hey, Dionne. How are ya doing? I'm writing to let you know that I stumbled across some good "Behind the scenes" information for your very first Featured Article, Trial of Tycho Celchu. In his interview with Nathan Butler for Chronoradio, Stackpole talks about how he drew inspiration from the O.J. Simpsons trial but also tried not to make the comparisons to the O.J. trial too obvious. Or something like that; it's actually been a long time since I listened to it. If you're busy, I'd be more than happy to add the information to the article myself, but if you'd rather do it, go for it! Let me know. Menkooroo (talk) 10:46, August 31, 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations on being named Wookieepedian of the Month for October 2013! :D —MJ— Holocomm 02:00, October 2, 2013 (UTC)

Handoff Edit

Ah, you're right. Sorry about that. I've now removed both Chronologys from the Sources section. I double-checked the CSWE entry too, and it explicitly mentions the datacard called The Hand of Thrawn but has no new info. Everything should be good, then. Lost Reef Edit

Hello Dionne, just wanted to remind you of one objection from 4dot on your Lost Reef FAN that has still not been satisfied after a couple of weeks. Just hoping you were aware of it. Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 02:09, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. I don't know how I didn't even notice that there was still something 4dot wanted me to do, I honestly thought I had got them all.--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 06:28, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

There does not appear to be anything new. It's just a brief paragraph summarizing what the HoJ is from Allegiance. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:27, March 13, 2014 (UTC)

Amilyn Holdo Edit

What exactly is "unconfirmed and out-of-universe information"? Amilyn's interest in meditation is mentioned in Claudia Grey's book, as well as her desire for danger to "get more comfortable with the nearness and inevitability of death". --Jim Fruit (talk) 23:11, February 9, 2018 (UTC)

    • I put it at Chiss uniform seens that's what the book uses --Lewisr (talk) 00:10, March 7, 2019 (UTC)
      • Fair enough! --Lewisr (talk) 01:00, March 7, 2019 (UTC)

Thanks you ever so much for the info. I had a problem with a message I recieved from him. Did NOT see when he sent it. In his message to me he accused me of vandalism. Now as I said in my message to him I am a spelling nazi. So if I see something spelled wrong. I WILL correct it or if I notice something minor wrong. I MAY try to fix it. But anything major... I will ask someone to fix it. I was thanked by JMM a few weeks ago about stuff I found incorrect. So I ended up telling him off... I corrected a bunch of times my message to him. When autocorrect, makes an error: spelling or otherwise! If you want I can remove my cussing him out. But I figure he has a message on my board I can not remove then he can as well!

Well there is still more to add, because Deenlark said Foss told him that Thrawn was too leave the academy as a lieutenant rather than the standard of ensign --Lewisr (talk) 18:01, March 28, 2019 (UTC)

  • You can if you want! That's a good point, best to not edit conflict or anything --Lewisr (talk) 18:14, March 28, 2019 (UTC)
    • Looks okay with me! Thanks for adding it --Lewisr (talk) 18:57, March 28, 2019 (UTC)

Hello Dionne Jinn, You can work on Kimmund, I'm currently trying to expand Grysk military and the Imperial-Grysk conflict. If you need to, you can remove the template I added. May The Force Be With You! --Supreme Commander Raxus (talk) 15:55, March 29, 2019 (UTC)User:SupremeCommanderRaxus

RE: KimmundEdit

Hey Jinn! Just wanted to say Kimmund looks a lot more better than he use to. Looks awesome. I'm happy to finally see Wookiepedians update Thrawn: Alliances related content. May The Force Be With You! --Supreme Commander Raxus (talk) 18:00, April 1, 2019 (UTC)User:SupremeCommanderRaxus

  • Good job on Kimmund, looks a lot more better, Just keep it up on updating the Thrawn: Alliances content. I'm currently not doing any major edits due to my cold, That I've gotten recently. Anyways, May The Force Be With You! --Supreme Commander Raxus (talk) 18:04, April 3, 2019 (UTC)User:SupremeCommanderRaxus
    • Yeah nice job on it! As you can probably see I changed it to First Legion rather than his unit --Lewisr (talk) 18:31, April 3, 2019 (UTC)
      • Force heal would help about now. Lol --Supreme Commander Raxus (talk) 18:39, April 3, 2019 (UTC)User:SupremeCommanderRaxus
      • No its okay I completely understand! I figured you might not have been aware so that's why I added it in my summary --Lewisr (talk) 18:42, April 3, 2019 (UTC)

Hey Jinn! I was wondering if you could add in your ideas on this subject. Within the Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy, We see that Grand Admiral Thrawn was so close to defeating the New Republic. My question is, What if Thrawn won? What would he do? And lastly, When the Yuuzhan Vong War came, Would he have used Superweapons or even Bioweapons? Let me know what you think of how he would have done all this! --Supreme Commander Raxus (talk) 15:54, April 5, 2019 (UTC)User:SupremeCommanderRaxus

  • You have any ideas? That sucks, I'm always curious as to what else someone can come up with--Supreme Commander Raxus (talk) 16:47, April 5, 2019 (UTC)User:SupremeCommanderRaxus

Hey, I don't want to step on your toes otherwise I'd just fix it myself, but noticed a little typo on Karyn Faro: "At some point in her live, she once traveled on a water craft." Live instead of life. Typos like that are super sneaky, haha! Awesome work on her page btw, I've really enjoyed watching your additions. So good!! Toqgers (talk) 05:48, September 4, 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. Go a head and fix it if you want. I'm at work at the moment and will be away from the article for a couple of hours.--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 05:52, September 4, 2019 (UTC)

Hello. I saw your revert on the Karyn Faro page where you stated that Faro said the line "The action was carried out under my direction, Admiral" because it was voice acted as such in the audio book. I propose that that is an error. Please see this image from the comics, where Admiral Thrawn says the line: (remove the dash to view). I did not undo your change out of courtesy but I ask you to please consider doing so. Thank you. Gamecreatorc (talk) 23:24, November 14, 2019 (UTC)
