Please!!! I beg you[]

Hi HotCat, I'm from the Spanish wiki, is a great work what the bot do, okay I recognize that, but please do something to do not appear in the contributions list and other thing please, arrange your bot, because is not the first time the bot change the contents of the pages, and doing so, the great purpose of the bot is being ruined. Please! I beg you.--Lop-Har Kela 18:35, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I answered you on the Spanish talk page of HotCat. C-3P0 19:02, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

Edit for Deep Core[]

Hi, I was just trying to figure out what the edit was that you made on the Deep Core page. It looks like de:Deep-Core-Bergbaugesellschaft and it goes below the categories, but I honestly have no idea what that does. Is there any chance you can let me know what that means and where I can read about it. I am still new to editing, but I am trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks! HotCat is a bot that is adding interwikilinks to articles and that edit you saw was a link to German Star Wars wiki. Using them you can go from one language to another and see what the other wiki knows about a certain thing. Very useful!--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 12:11, May 9, 2010 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the clarification on that :) I see now the link to get to the pages in other languages. TK-299 (Click Here) Imperial Emblem.svg 04:47, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

Um, wut[]

Not so good: [2], [3], [4], [5]. May be others I didn't catch. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 05:00, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

There are some more, I added them here. Jedi-Meister »!?« 14:08, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I just read about the bug and have stopped the bot immediately. I will look at the code as soon as I have time. --C-3P0 17:23, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
The error very likely occured because of a problem with the sending of the content. Unfortunately, this could be caused by very many things and is not easy to fix. I now looked through the code and added a total of four security checks to prevent any empty pages from being sent, so the bug might have been fixed but I cannot tell for sure; it could just as well be an error on Wikia's side. However, I will continue to monitor as many edits as possible to look for fixes, but with more than 20,000 edits there may be some errors that slip by.
I apologize for any inconvenience HotCat has caused you and will of course continue to fix any bugs that appear. Should this particular bug appear again, I will add a system that creates a comprehensive log of every edit so that I can easier track down the bug; however, this would increase load time and use up a lot of disc space, so I currently refrain from doing it.
In any case, I have updated HotCat so that the interwiki template is no longer added to the bottom of the page but before the categories. I have restarted the bot from the beginning to update all previous pages to the new format.
Have a nice day, C-3P0 01:26, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

Tarl bug[]

Hello C-3PO, (or any other user in control of HotCat) a while ago you made incorrect interwiki links for at least one of the characters named Tarl. On here and on Yodapedia, they have been fixed, however on Jedipedia and on the Spanish wiki the interwikis are still messed up. On Jedipedia Tarl (Yuuzhan Vong War) (there just called Tarl) has all the interwiki links to Tarl (Sergeant), and likewise on the Spanish wiki Sergeant Tarl's interwikis are for the one from the Yuuzhan Vong War. While this might be a sofixit, I would just like for that mistake to be fixed. However, good work on all the interwiki links, that is really convenient for users such as myself :) Hanzo Hasashi 18:26, August 11, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I see what you mean. Unfortunately, this is a human error that happened because one of the users on Jedipedia forgot to check if the Spanish and Dutch articles fit to the German article, which they didn't. We created HotCat so that it would not be completely autonomous but to only give recommendations; therefore, mistakes like this can happen from time to time. In any case I have now corrected the interwiki links on all articles and put the German article on my watchlist so that next time someone adds a wrong interwiki link there, I will be notified and can revert it. Thank you for the bug report and it's great that you like HotCat! :-) Have a nice day, C-3P0 14:49, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

Odd bug[]

[6] I think the bot needs some kind of exception coded in to prevent this. Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers Saturday, November 5, 2011, 04:33 UTC

[7] Another bug. No clue why it did this, unless it choked on the size of the article. Edits before it and after it in the bot's contribs didn't have a problem. —MJ— Council Chambers Friday, March 23, 2012, 20:20 UTC

Star Wars Rebels[]

Hello, HotCat. I wanted to ask you for a favor. Can you go on to the page of "Star Wars Rebels" and edit it with some new information I found out from the newest issue of Star Wars Insider? If you do, here's the info I have:

1)"Rebels" is told to be a follow-up to "The Clone Wars". So, it means it is a sequel series to "The Clone Wars". So, it's likely some "Clone Wars" characters will return.

2)Besides Kilian Plunkett and Joel Aron returning with Dave on "Rebels", other members of "Clone Wars" are returning. First up, we have Athena Portillo serving as producer on the series. Working with Plunkett on the concept art team will be Amy Beth Christenson, Andre Kirk, Pat Presly, Chris Glenn, and Darren Marshall who will all be managed by associate prduction manager Liz Cummings. And working with Joel Aron on the develpment team will be "Clone Wars" animation supervisor, Keith Kellog and asset supervisor Paul Zinnes. Put these people in the Crew section on the "Star Wars Rebels" page.

Please edit the "Star Wars Rebels" page with this info. Thank You.

P.S. The page on the new issue of Star Wars Insider where I found the details is at zinio.com. Just find page 7 in the new issue.

  • Hi there! Unfortunately, HotCat is a bot, it is not a real user, therefore it cannot respond to you. Since we received some vandalism, Star Wars Rebels has been protected so only registered users can edit it. I myself do not have the current Insider, which is why I cannot confirm the information myself. I recommend posting this in the Senat Hall so that other users can find out about it. --C-3P0 (talk) 11:14, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

Tasha Ryo edit[]

Hello, I just happened to notice that a recent edit by HotCat caused the following issue with Tasha Ryo. I would appreciate someone taking a look at it.--Exiled Jedi (talk) 22:03, September 23, 2018 (UTC)

Looks like the page did not load completely; this used to happen before but I haven't seen it in a while. In addition, HotCat replaced the \' escape sequence in the infobox, though as far as I can tell that was wrong anyway. Fortunately, edits like these are easily spotted in RC so I don't consider it a major bug. --C-3P0 (talk) 09:44, September 24, 2018 (UTC)
