Interwiki Edit

Greetings from Spain, I see u like contributing in Spanish Wookiepedia adding interwikis to the same articles in other languages. I do the same but in the other side, it's funny. Bye! --Palpatine81 01:44, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I like interwiki links. Glad to meet someone from the other side.-LtNOWIS 02:02, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

I noticed you were in on the discussion of the Mirshaf page the first time the source was disputed. Don't know if you know anything else about it, but if you'd take a look at it and it's talk page, I'd appreciate it. Just trying to grab the attention of anyone who might have anything to add. Another user needing block. Edit

An explanation. Edit

Please explain to me why you reverted my edits to Antares Draco, in which I added content from Legacy 9. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 01:36, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

  • I apologize. I didn't see the updated part, just the changes to the template. In retrospect, this was a really dumb error on my part. -LtNOWIS 17:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps you would care to explain why you deleted The Force Unleashed(Novel) subject. Hmm???

Padmé pics Edit

Yes, I would very much appreciate you acquiring pictures of Padmé from the comic books, as I only own one, the Commencment TPB. Needless to say, Padmé doesn't appear in it. The thing is is that I would need a quick description of the scene she appears in, too. Thank you! -Solus (Bird of Prey) 03:16, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much, you're being a great help! -Solus (Bird of Prey) 11:33, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
    • Oh, and I won't be able to use the HoloNet picture, firstly because the lowest I can see is her shoulders and it is monotone. Sorry, and thank you so much! -Solus (Bird of Prey) 20:42, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
      • Thank you again! -Solus (Bird of Prey) 00:25, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
        • Um, I looked over the one from The Artist of Naboo, and though I've tried to decipher what she's wearing, I can't use them. I'm afraid the artist needs to sharpen up. :) -Solus (Bird of Prey) 00:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
          • I thought the storyline was somewhat... unorthodox... (to say nothing of the art. Concept artists can surely do better...) -Solus (Bird of Prey) 00:42, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
            • Thank you so much, I'll get to work on it as soon as I can. -Solus (Bird of Prey) 12:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Policy question Edit

I noticed you blocked a user by the name of Starfreak, for being of an age less than 13, is that the policy now? If so, could you give me a link to the policy page? Brain40

  • Well, I don't think it's policy per se, but there's a precedent for it: [1]. Apparantly, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act says that to have users under the age of 13, we have to follow a lot of complex rules and risk fines. Which we don't want to do. Talk to Sikon for more information. -LtNOWIS

Further explaination of that policy which is the same as any gaming forum policy that is updo date. Is that they do not wanting a 13 year old going on to a site with out their parent premission. however kids clicking yes they are over the age over 13 or that they have their parent's permission waves the way for the site to be held responsible for them. in other words it is a loop hole to save themselves from a law suit.

WOTM nom Edit

I would like to thank you for your vote for me for WOTM, it's a surprise to me that I ever got on there, and I'm sorry this thanks is so late in coming.-Solus (Bird of Prey) 13:46, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Rebellion era Edit

Simon, please explain for my benefit how Bria Tharen's involvement in the Battle of Toprawa does not place her in the Rebellion era. By my understanding after reading the following blog, Toprawa is the beginning of the Reb era. Toprawa and Ralltiir 19:20, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

  • So did I, until a few days ago. I thought that was the point of the BBY/ABY changeover, to mark the beginning of the Reb era. Borsk showed me that blog the other day. Toprawa and Ralltiir 21:43, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Mailing listEdit

Hey, NOWIS. I've set up a private administrator mailing list to help coordinate the current administrators of the site, and I am attempting to contact each administrator to get them to subscribe. You can subscribe here. My point with setting up this mailing list to get all of the administrators of Wookieepedia operating on the same page, and in a more unified fashion. Regardless of any personal differences that may exist between some members, I still feel that it is important that we are all operating on the same level, with regards to knowledge of the site, and new/upcoming stuff that is going to happen—so, basically, this is an attempt to coordinate us all in an effort to help keep us on the same page with regards to new policies, new ideas, announcements, discussions, etc. In my opinion, we're all on the same team and this will only help us to be a more organized and cohesive working unit—even more so than we currently are. I've already spoken with a few admins via IRC, and they have liked my point of this whole thing, and have thus signed up—I would really appreciate it you could do likewise :) Any questions about this, you know where you can reach me. Cheers, Greyman Jan.png (Talk) 16:08, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Real World PeopleEdit

I'm sorry, is there any particular reason for replacing John Smith with John_Smith in wikipedia-template? All links are working correctly without any "_" in them. Mauser 00:15, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

  • They weren't working when I saw them. It would display as "The list of authors can be seen in the Smith&action=history page history," with the link going to the John article. -LtNOWIS 00:19, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
    • That's weird. Because the links like that one are working fine for me. Maybe it's because I'm on Opera and you're on Firefox? Mauser 00:24, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
      • In my experience, that's just one of the quirks of Template:Wikipedia. Possibly because it links to the index.php part of the website. -LtNOWIS 00:29, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

What's up with my IRC?Edit

I'm not suggesting you had something to do with this, but I have been banned - without any warning or stated reason - from the Wookieepedia IRC. I will be notifying other admins of this development as well. Erik Pflueger 20px 22:23, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Block on Tipper45 Edit

Hello, I am here in regards to the block issued to Tipper45. I understand that he was deleting content from talk pages, a blockable offense, however, I do not think he will be doing it again, and I believe he did not fully understand the rules. Now, that is not an excuse, but I think he should be given another chance to fix things. He has talked to me on the Call of Duty Wiki, and although it is a little strange trying to circumvent his block on a wiki on which I have not edited, he has expressed that he wishes to be unblocked, and therefore I believe he will not cause any offenses again. Thank you for your time. Creepydude Talk Page 19:57, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Bounty Hunters & Mercenaries Edit

Hello LtNOWIS, you recently reverted an edit I had made on the Mandalorian page. It is from my understanding that bounty hunters in the Star Wars universe, unlike reality, are in fact mercenaries. You said they are "law enforcement" which I would agree with to the point of when the worked for various Empires, Republics, etc but they also work for a variety of criminals. I also thought they were mercenaries, because even wookiepedia states on the bounty hunter page that "bounty hunters were mercenaries for hire who...". I'm not saying they aren't law enforcement and mercenaries aren't military, I'm just saying that both terms in the star wars universe are in a similar group, or better yet, bounty hunters are a specific group of mercenaries like the bounty hunter page states. I'm just bringing this point up because I want to make sure the pages are more accurate and that I understand things well enough to continue to edit. Thanks for your time and I await your response. D.Kaiser 21:36, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

  • I agree with what you have to say. In actually definitions a non-Star Wars bounty hunter and a non-Star Wars mercenary are completely different. In Star Wars however there is A LOT of grey area over the subject. Heck, most of the jobs in Star Wars are mercenary work, but I'm going to go what you say and keep the article as it is. D.Kaiser 06:08, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to remove content from pages, an administrator will block you from editing Wookieepedia. Toprawa and Ralltiir 01:22, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

  • Uh, yeah. Sorry about that. I have one-click warning buttons that sometimes misfire because I don't pay attention to what I'm doing. My bad. Toprawa and Ralltiir 01:22, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
    • No problem. -LtNOWIS 01:23, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Using the Interlang template for other Wikia wikisEdit

Hi LtNOWIS, you probably noticed that we at the German wiki Jedipedia have moved to and that Wookieepedia has implemented the template Interlang to be able to choose their own interwiki partners independent of Wikia.

While this is a great step towards a better interconnection of all the different Star Wars wikis, the other Star Wars wikis at Wikia still use the regular interwiki links. In order for all wikis to have the same interwiki partners, we feel it's best to have other wikis use the Interlang template as well. I am currently contacting the sysops of the other Star Wars wikis so that they can decide together with the users if they want to use the Interlang template as well.

Unfortunately, some of the Star Wars wikis are currently inactive and it is not possible to contact the users or admins. Since you are a sysop on many Star Wars wikis, I wanted to ask you if it is possible for you to help me in implementing the Interlang template on the wikis bg, da, sl and zh-hk. While I can create the Interlang template myself and use HotCat as a bot to automatically update the format on all pages, there are two pages in the MediaWiki namespace that only an admin can edit. They are:

  • MediaWiki:Monobook.js to make the template behave like interwiki links on the Monobook skin (see here for the code to copy & paste).

Could you please update both files on the four wikis mentioned above so I can create the Interlang template? Also, I noticed that there are other inactive wikis (el, ko, la, mn, sk, sr) but it seems that you are not a sysop there. Do you have an idea how we could update those wikis as well?

Have a nice day, C-3P0 14:22, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

  • I discovered three more Star Wars wikis where I was not able to reach an active sysop (hr, it, tr) and you don't have admin rights. Do you have an idea how we can best update these wikis as well? Have a nice weekend, C-3P0 17:41, September 2, 2011 (UTC)
  • If the files don't exist on the foreign wiki, should I create them? -LtNOWIS 17:19, September 4, 2011 (UTC)
  • Yes, you can create them if they don't edist. Afterwards I will create the Interlang templates and run the bot to update the articles. Have a nice day, C-3P0 17:21, September 4, 2011 (UTC)
    • OK, I've done the wikis I'm an admin on. As for the other wikis, the only way to conduct admin actions on a wiki with no active admin is to ask a Wikia staff member to do it. --LtNOWIS 17:31, September 4, 2011 (UTC)
      • Thank you very much for updating the MediaWiki files! I have created the Interlang templates and have run the bot, so the wikis are now updated. About the other wikis, I think I'll try reaching one of the admins there to see if they respond before I contact Wikia. Have a nice day, C-3P0 22:00, September 4, 2011 (UTC)
        • Hi LtNOWIS, I noticed that there are two pages that are protected so that only sysops can edit them: Main Page/v2 and Star Wars Customizable Card Game. Could you please update the interwiki links on these pages? Thank you very much, C-3P0 17:29, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
          • Done. -LtNOWIS 17:36, September 5, 2011 (UTC)

Adding GA and CA support for the Interlang templatesEdit

Hi LtNOWIS! On Wookieepedia, Culator has updated the Interlang template so that it not only shows Featured Articles in other languages with a special icon, but also Good and Comprehensive Articles. Unfortunately, the Interlang templates on the other wikis also have to be updated before GAs and CAs can be marked accordingly. I have already contacted the admins of the other wikis but wanted to ask you if you could please update two MediaWiki pages on the inactive wikis bg, da, sl and zh-hk:

/* Link FAs in other languages */

#p-lang li.FA {
	list-style-image: url("");

#p-lang li.GA {
	list-style-image: url("");

#p-lang li.CA {
	list-style-image: url("");
#p-lang li.GA {
  list-style-image: url("");
  margin-right: 8px;

#p-lang li.CA {
  list-style-image: url("");
  margin-right: 8px;

Once you have done that, I will update the Interlang templates and run the HotCat bot so it adds the GA/CA icons on all respective articles. Have a nice weekend, C-3P0 22:13, October 1, 2011 (UTC)

  • Done. -LtNOWIS 00:31, October 6, 2011 (UTC)
    • Thank you very much for editing the MediaWiki files; I have now updated the Interlang templates for GA/CA support. Have a nice day, C-3P0 16:18, October 9, 2011 (UTC)

Palejo ReshadEdit

Request Edit

Hey, Simon. How're ya doing? I have a request for you.

Since we've now reached 100,000 articles, I'm planning on writing an article for Wookieepedia NewsNet reflecting on how we got this far by looking back at the earliest days of the Wook. To that end, I'm contacting as many of the oldest (unflattering term, I know. Sorry) Wookieepedians as possible and asking them to chime in.

This is (intentionally) a pretty broad question, but I'm wondering if you can tell me about your early experiences on the Wook and your impressions of what the site was like during its first couple years. Something longer than a soundbite but shorter than a short story, since I'm hoping to quote as many people as I can. Humor and wit are of course encouraged. If you're interested, go nuts, and if you're not, no worries. Thanks, and have a good day! Menkooroo (talk) 15:39, January 12, 2013 (UTC)

Sysops Edit

Hello, NOWIS. I'm letting you know that you currently do not meet Wookieepedia's activity requirements for administrators to maintain their sysops. Administrators must meet the following conditions to maintain sysops: 1) They must contribute at least 50 mainspace edits in any six-month span; 2) They must not go more than six months without using their sysop tools; and 3) They must not go more than six months without editing. You currently do not satisfy the first two requirements, and you are rapidly approaching not meeting the third. Therefore, it is customary for Wookieepedia to extend you a formal warning to inform you of your situation. Technically, you've been eligible for removal for many months now. Therefore, I'm going to give you until 17 October, which is the six-month mark from your last mainspace edit, to satisfy all of these conditions, or your sysops will be removed per site policy. Thank you. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 20:06, September 20, 2013 (UTC)
