Talk pages Edit

Thanks for contributing to Wookieepedia! Before posting talk page comments, please familiarize yourself with the disclaimer at the top of talk pages, {{Talkheader}}. Talk pages are for discussion relating to changes to the article, not for a discussion about the topic in question. Thank you. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 20:20, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

Excuse me sir, I did not know, I just thought maybe it could be noted in the behind the scenes section or something that he could possibly just be a funny cameo or something is all. Matt Seay (talk) 20:39, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

  • Discussing speculation in talk pages is discouraged (please see Tranner's warning above). Speculation is also not allowed in articles. Thanks, JangFett (Talk) 01:07, July 27, 2012 (UTC)
    • This will be your final warning regarding speculation and talk pages. Edits like this are in violation of the Talkheader template. Failure to heed this warning will result in a block from editing. Thank you for your cooperation. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 15:32, July 28, 2012 (UTC)

I am terribly sorry about this. I get confused sometimes about what I can say in talk pages. I did not know that was speculation. Given the heavy spiritual connection in Star Wars, I thought that when writing KOTOR they researched the bible and came up with that. I was just thinking that is there was a source for it it could be added as Behind the Scenes info, Bu I guess I was mistaken. I do not mean to intentionally break any rules. I hope you believe me on this. I love Star Wars and only wish to make this site better in any way I can. Matt Seay (talk) 19:16, July 28, 2012 (UTC)

Sources Edit

Hi there! Just a heads-up that the Vertseth article will need an "Appearances" and/or a "Sources" section listing where the planet appears in canon. If you add one, you can remove the {{Verify}} tag. Let me know if you need any help. Cheers. Menkooroo (talk) 04:22, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

I am currently working on the sources thing right now. Matt Seay (talk) 04:23, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

Removing content Edit

Please do not remove content from Wookieepedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 00:19, July 28, 2012 (UTC)

I was not finished with an edit, I was rewording some information that was being repeated throughout the article and I never got a chance to finish the edit. I did not mean to vandalize, I just was not finished with the edit. Matt Seay (talk) 00:38, July 28, 2012 (UTC)

I hit finish before i was really finished, I am sorry that I made the changes I was going to fix it but i guess it has been reverted and I had no idea. Believe me I am not doing this stuff intentionally, I am not a troll, I really want to make articles better, like the Mission to Nal Hutta article that I added info for. Matt Seay (talk) 00:54, July 28, 2012 (UTC)

VerifyEdit

Do not remove the verify tag from an article if it is replaced by an administrator. If you do so again, I will have to block you for disruption. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 20:39, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, my bad. Again, I am still learning the ropes. Don't be too harsh lol. I will ask next time Matt Seay (talk) 20:43, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

Creating new articles Edit

If you plan on creating new articles on Wookieepedia, please first familiarize yourself with our Layout Guide and Manual of Style pages to see the necessary requirements for each article. Among several things, your articles need to have proper categorization. If you have questions, feel free to ask. Thanks. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 01:26, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

  • I do wish to create articles. If you could help me out it would be great. Because I do not wish to indirectly break a rule and get banned and not even know it lol Matt Seay (talk) 01:32, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
    • Your best bet is to take a little time and read through those two pages some. They show you exactly how to name your sections and the minimum requirements needed in each article. I'd also suggest using our Featured articles as models. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 01:36, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
      • Okay, thank you. I only wish to help improve the wiki. I want to make the best articles that I can, I will read over those pages. If you would like to go ahead and fix up the articles that I started, that would be fine by me. Matt Seay (talk) 01:38, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
        • Hey! You're doing great with adding Appearances and Sources, but be sure to add at least one appropriate Category to all new articles. Check through some other articles to see some examples of categories. They're added at the bottom of the page. Menkooroo (talk) 03:29, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks man, I am doing my best. I am getting used to how the wiki works now. Matt Seay (talk) 03:30, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
    • Please be more specific than Category:In-universe articles. Categories should be as specific as possible. When creating a new article, check out similar articles for ideas of what kinds of categories you can use. For "Bantha Herder," check out Nerf herder. Menkooroo (talk) 03:52, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
  • I fixed it, added the right Category. Matt Seay (talk) 03:55, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Taking it easy Edit

Hey, Matt. I know you're excited and eager to edit Wookieepedia and learn, but you need to take it easy. I appreciate your zeal, but you can't continue to create articles without following policies and rules. Things like I fixed here are very minor things that should have been taken care of before you created the article. It's good that you want to help here. However, before continuing to create and/or edit any more articles, please take plenty of time to thoroughly read and understand all the policies and guidelines on Wookieepedia. Also, it would be good for you to check our Featured and Good articles for how to do things. Please do as I have suggested before continuing to edit. Otherwise, you could be blocked for disruption. Thank you for your cooperation.—Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 04:12, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

I do not wish to seem like a "Jar Jar Binks", getting in the way or whatever. I was told that was the way to do things, or at least that may have been how I perceived it, but nevertheless, I will take great care in my future edits. Matt Seay (talk) 04:16, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

  • I'd like to urge you to take Cal's advice. See this recent edit I made --- something cannot go in both "Appearances" and "Sources," as Cal already pointed out. Also be sure to place an {{Eras}} tag at the top of every article. You can take a look at other articles for examples. Menkooroo (talk) 05:45, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, sometimes I forget the little things. Please forgive me. I am getting better though. Matt Seay (talk) 05:48, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

  • Also, the heading is formatted as "Notes and references," not "Notes & References." Try to avoid using an ampersand whenever possible. Thanks. Trak Nar Ramble on 05:50, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip, I made that mistake a few times. I will remember not to make it again. Matt Seay (talk) 05:51, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

  • I'm going to echo Cal's words - please take more time to read through and understand site policies before creating any more articles, as several of the articles you have written have required an additional cleanup. Thank you for your cooperation. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 15:50, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

I am sorry for any problems I have caused while creating articles. Sometimes my hands go faster than my brain and I end up with something that is either misspelled, misinformed or something like that. Again, I do not do this on purpose. I do believe I am getting better though. Matt Seay (talk) 18:11, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Categorization Edit

This is a reminder to please remember to categorize your articles. Thanks. Trak Nar Ramble on 04:50, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the reminder. I am working on it. Thanks for the help that everyone has been giving me. Matt Seay (talk) 04:52, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Once again, please be sure to categorize your articles. Thanks. Trak Nar Ramble on 05:45, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I know, I am sorry. Someone else has already mentioned this to me. If I may refer you to the last thread on the page called "Eras and categories". I am getting better. I am trying to keep up on policy. Matt Seay (talk) 05:56, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Star Wars 1313Edit

Gotta admit with them going for a mature rating it does make you question what it's gonna be like since it will be the first star wars game ever to get a mature rating if they succeed. DarthRevan1173 (talk) 07:30, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Well, some people thought The Force Unleashed was gonna have a mature rating from the test footage back in 2007, I know they want a darker game about bounty hunters and stuff. IDK, I like my Star Wars right in that gray area of "Its dark, but still everyone can enjoy it" But, I know Lucasarts wants to take risks. Matt Seay (talk) 07:35, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Same here but it makes you wonder will it being mature give the franchise new room to play in or it won't. Be interesting if it opens the door for more mature games. Kinda wish they would make some of the books into games. DarthRevan1173 (talk) 07:45, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah me too, If the mature thing works it may be a new area to play in. Republic Commando was pretty dark but still T, imagine if it were darker. The era I will want a game about is the time between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clone, Anakin and Obi-Wan on mission together like the Jedi Quest Books or maybe a game about Qui-gon that would be cool. Matt Seay (talk) 07:51, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Republic Commando darker, now thats something to think about that would be awesome. Jedi Quest would be interesting as a game, i personally hope they would do is The Jedi Apprentice books or make the Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi into games. They have such furtile ground to play with. DarthRevan1173 (talk) 08:00, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I want a Yuzhan Vong game could be cool too. And, I just thought about Jedi Apprentice, A co-op mode, play as Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon, There are so many good ideas for Star Wars games. Personally though, I want another Jedi Knight game wuth Kyle Katarn. Matt Seay (talk) 08:03, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

I feel Vector Prime would be the way to kick off with the Yuuzhan Vong and at least they can give Chewbacca a bad-ass death scene in it. Co-op for Jedi Apprentice would be great. Ever since I have played Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy have been waiting for them to do another game with either Kyle Katarn or Jaden Korr. DarthRevan1173 (talk) 08:09, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

  • Yes, I am not the only one. Again a good Co-op mode you could play as both. But, I am more of a Kyle Katarn Fan. No offense if you like Jaden, I like him, just thought he should have been in his own series of games and not had a "passing of the torch" game with him. But yeah, I do not know if this is just me but I want a game where you play through all six movies. That would be awesome. I would also like another pod racing game but maybe that is just me. Matt Seay (talk) 08:13, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
    • The first Jedi Academy game I played was Jedi Academy so that's mainly why I like Jaden Korr more but after playing the others was kinda disappointed that they "passed the torched" and you didn't get to see much of Katarn in Academy. He definatley deserves another game. All six movies in one would be awesome no doubt. Kinda wish they would make either a game series or book series with a squad like how Criminal Minds is. You see the squad specializing in murder figuring out how it was done, who did it, and profiling the criminal that did it. I for one feel that would be an awesome game. DarthRevan1173 (talk) 08:23, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
  • Yes indeed. We fans can only dream. Speaking of Dreams, I really want Battlefront III. That would be awesome. I want a follow up to the Force Unleashed II either a third game or at least a graphic novel. But I know Lucasarts said they wanted to step away from the Jedi thing for a couple games. Matt Seay (talk) 08:27, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
  • They have to follow up with a Force Unleashed 3. They left us with a cliffhanger that must be answered. How does Vader escape? Does he kill Juno and the Starkiller clone? Or does Boba Fett kill the two and rescue him? The answer deserves either a game, graphic novel, or an book. Battlefront III would be awesome, hope they have a few battles set in the old republic where you could play as Revan or Meetra Surik. Heard rumors that when they finally start the Live Action tv series that they might have the Force Unleased plot in it or it's own series and a series dealing in the old republic that might deal with Revan, Malak, Meetra Surik, the Mandalorian Wars and so on. DarthRevan1173 (talk) 08:49, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
    • Yes, I heard those rumors too. George Lucas said he wants the Live Action series to split into at least 3 shows like CSI, where they will cross over sometimes but still have their own plots. I just wish they would get something going with it soon. I would love to have the old republic as part of Battlefront III. And as far as force unleashed III, we know Vader gets out, but how. Matt Seay (talk) 08:55, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
  • Exactly everyone wants to know how Vader was freed. Latest i heard on the show was it was pushed back to next year or 2014. The sooner it shows the better. And really hope they actually do make Battlefront III this time. DarthRevan1173 (talk) 09:17, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
  • Yeah I heard 2014 also. But nevertheless we must wait. Matt Seay (talk) 09:11, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Jedi Apprentice Novel MissionsEdit

I am trying to get all the missions that Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan go on in the Jedi Apprentice series to flow together through mission infoboxes on their respective articles. A couple of them to not have articles. But, it is coming together. I could use some help if I have missed something. Matt Seay (talk) 20:57, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

  • Several things:
    • Jedi is always capitalized.
    • When you are referencing a source, give it a name: i.e., <ref name="Path">''[[Jedi Apprentice: The Uncertain Path]]''</ref> so that you can reference the same source later on with <ref name="Path" />
    • In infoboxes, always enclose references with {{Ref}} (i.e., {{Ref|<ref name="Path" />}}
    • In infoboxes, only link once to articles, even if they are repeated again later in the infobox.
    • Never link to an article in the infobox title.
    • Please use better grammar and spelling through your articles.
    • Books, movies, games, and other similar sources are always italicized with two apostrophes at either end.
    • For articles that have conjectural titles, do not state the title in the article. The title is conjectural, and therefore is not canonical. Simply bold the defining word (i.e. Kyle Katarn's father owned a map that showed the location of the Valley of the Jedi)
    • Please do not apply stub or expand templates to articles simply because of their length.
    • See this edit for examples.
    • I appreciate your enthusiasm, but it's really best if you don't create articles just to fill in redlinks. Only create articles on subjects that you know about, or subjects which appear in sources you own and are willing to use to research.
      • Also, in conversations on talk pages, it is considered proper to use a * to make your comment into a bullet, as you can see above. It keeps a single conversation together for both aesthetic purposes and convenience. Cade Calrayn StupidRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit 22:32, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
      • And another piece of advice: I really wouldn't try and work on more than one or two articles at one time when you are inexperienced. Try to stick to one article and fix your mistakes before moving on to the next article. Cade Calrayn StupidRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit 22:35, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
    • Thanks for the tips, I am looking forward to having this project done to the best of my ability. Matt Seay (talk) 22:41, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Blocked Edit

Dialog-error You have been blocked from editing for 3 days, for repeatedly ignoring the Talkheader policy despite numerous warnings. I have been extremely patient with you, but it is clear that you are not understanding any of the warnings I and others have given you. Perhaps this block will do the trick. I will note that I am being extremely generous here by making the block only three days long. To contest this block, please contact the blocking administrator with the reason you believe the block is unjustified. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 02:01, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I thought since I was no longer blocked I no longer needed this on here. I understand removing other kinds of messages would be wrong but if a user is no longer being blocked, I think the other users need to know by having the block message removed after the block period is over. I understand that the talk page headers are the reason I was blocked and I am trying to follow the rules. I just thought that it would be nice to inform people that may stop by a user page that the user is no longer blocked by either removing the block message or leaving anew one. Matt Seay (talk) 19:19, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Picture Edit

Are you sure that you're properly filling out the image upload form, with the correct copyright template? I would recommend checking that and trying to upload it again. If the problem persists, please contact admins like Grunny or Xd1358 who are more tech-savvy with wiki coding. CC7567 (talk) 23:10, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, I will try again, I filled out the copyright as "My own image" and I will try this again. And thanks for letting me know who to contact. Matt Seay (talk) 23:12, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

Images Edit

When uploading an image, please make sure to fill out all of the required fields on the upload page. These include the source of your image. Also, make sure to add the appropriate licensing template, as well. As such, since your recent uploads have not been sourced or licensed, they have been removed. Please fill out the required fields on the upload page. Thanks. Trak Nar Ramble on 03:21, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

  • Sorry my bad, was in a hurry to upload it. I know where I got the images, they were form a site that hosted behind the scenes photos from the star wars movies. I know the images are free but I don't know how to source them or whatever. What do you suggest? Matt Seay (talk) 03:23, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
    • Well, if the site the images came from lists their source, then cite the images to the site's source. If the site does not list a source, then don't use images from that site, as they may not be very reliable and may be taking liberties with source material, speculating where they shouldn't be. Trak Nar Ramble on 03:32, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Okay Thanks. I will see what I can do about this. May The Force Be With You. 03:33, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

  • The website itself is not a source for the image, nor is releasing an image into the public domain. Most images are {{fairuse}}. Also, if it's a Clone Wars image from a specific Clone Wars episode, then the image would be sourced to that episode that it came from, not the website that you found it on. Trak Nar Ramble on 03:42, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Okay, Thank you. I am still learning here, I have been blocked once and do not wish to be blocked every time I misread something. So please forgive me. I am trying here. I just thought that picture was good enough. Matt Seay (talk) 03:45, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Eras and categories Edit

Hey, Matt. Please remember to add the {{Eras}} tag at the top and categories at the bottom of every new article created. In this case, Kamino librarian droid. Menkooroo (talk) 05:45, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

  • Sorry, my bad, I keep forgetting. I am getting better at remembering though lol. It won't happen again. Matt Seay (talk) 05:47, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Also, when categorizing real people, make sure that you're not adding them to in-universe categories. For actors, you should use Category:Star Wars actors and Category:Star Wars voice actors. Thanks. Trak Nar Ramble on 08:39, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, my bad, I thought it sorted actors in a group for real world articles. I will be more careful while I am making these actor's articles. Thanks for the heads up. Matt Seay (talk) 08:42, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Once again, please remember to categorize your articles. We can't keep fixing mistakes and correcting forgetfulness for you. This is something that you need to learn how to do on your own. Every time that you create an article, it needs to be categorized. Every time you upload an image, it needs to be sourced properly. You need to remember to include the {{Eras}} tags at the tops of the articles. We can't keep reminding you every time you make an article or upload an image. If you need to do so, draft up a checklist that you can consult every time you edit. Trak Nar Ramble on 07:13, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Edit

You need to have

Cheers, 1358 (Talk) 08:57, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

  • A tip for sourcing images: There should always be some sort of link. "taken from one of her shows" isn't adequate sourcing for File:Sue.jpg; if you got it from a website, you should link to the website in the "Source" field. Menkooroo (talk) 15:12, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
  • Okay, I got it from comedycentral.com. Does this count under fair use? Matt Seay (talk) 15:15, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
    • Sure does. You can include a link to it like this. You don't need to upload a new version to do it; you can just edit the image page like any other and amend the "Source" field. Menkooroo (talk) 15:23, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
  • Okay thanks. Matt Seay (talk) 15:25, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
    • Please create a link to the site --- the specific subpage of comedycentral.com from where the image comes --- instead of an unlinked vague "comedycentral.com." You can get the coding from my example above and modify it. Menkooroo (talk) 15:28, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
  • Okay, I did. That should be it then, Thanks for the help. Matt Seay (talk) 15:40, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

ImagesEdit

Theres nothing wrong with the images. The reason it was removed from goggles was that the article doesn't support enough information for another image. It needs to be a bigger article for more images. As for The Battle of Sullust anytime you want to add something to a comprehensive, featured, or good article you should always ask the one that that got it to that status if it can be added. DarthRevan1173 (Long live Lord Revan) 01:59, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

  • okay, well, I am just trying to make the articles better. If I add Info about Ahsoka's goggles to the article Goggles, then can I add the Image? I got a better screenshot of her wearing them now anyway. Matt Seay (talk) 02:02, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
    • Well it would neet to be mentioned in the article, but I think the section would have to be bigger for the new image. Should be a policy on this site saying how big the article needs to be to add more images. I'll see if I can locate it for ya. DarthRevan1173 (Long live Lord Revan) 02:04, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
      • No, the article is about goggles in general, not about specific characters wearing them. Also, if you're going to upload images, please make sure they're in their native resolution. Thank you, JangFett (Talk) 02:05, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • I was just thinking that having the pic of Ahsoka wearing them gave an example of safety goggles that one would wear when doing repairs on a starship. Matt Seay (talk) 02:11, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
    • You can add the image to her article, but please make sure it's in its native resolution. JangFett (Talk) 02:12, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Edit

The image is not sourced properly and it is still not in its native resolution. Per what many others have said in this talk page, you need to follow WP:I and not abuse it. I recommend looking at other TCW-related images to see what is to be expected from that source. Also, there was no room in that small area. Your best bet is to move some of the images around that Craptis section in her article and insert the image there (be sure to use the left-right-left, ect, positions). If there is no room afterward, then it is best to discard the image. JangFett (Talk) 02:45, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

  • Okay, I just want to let you know that I am not intentionally breaking rules and disobeying policies and things like that. I am just getting used to adding images. I hope you don't think I am trolling, I really want to improve articles in any way that I can. Matt Seay (talk) 02:49, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
    • Yes, I know you are uploading them in good faith and I appreciate your boldness. Images are something that could be challenging to newer users since we expect high quality uploads. It is not against the user (or you), unless that user is abusing the uploading tool, but rather we have certain expectations here regarding images. I would recommend that you do small, minor edits around the wiki, such as fixing redirects, typos, ect, until you know the wiki better. Article writing should also be taken step-by-step and avoid ambitious projects, such as rewriting sections, until you are comfortable and know the site's policies well. If you want to upload images, then looking at different images and knowing what native resolutions and formats are could help. Hope this helps, JangFett (Talk) 02:54, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
      • Thank you for being kind and not being harsh. I have been doing small projects around the wiki. I have created Articles and fixed typos/grammar and added info to a few. I looked at some of the pictures on Ahsoka's article and they are 1,280 × 544 or around that resolution. You have been a big help, thanks man. Should I make my images this resolution? Matt Seay (talk) 02:59, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
        • Yes, that is the normal going resolution for those TCW images, but if you cannot get to that resolution without stretching or modifying the image, then I would not try to upload it. As for your article creations, please make sure that you use proper English and grammar. Double check your work prior to submitting the new article. Using the "preview" button is good/encouraged to use prior to submitting edits in articles too. JangFett (Talk) 03:06, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • Yes, I do make sure to use those things. I have a list of articles that I have created on my profile, if you would like to check them out and see if any need improving. Some are stubs, like actors that don't have enough info yet but if you would like to check them out that would be great. Matt Seay (talk) 03:10, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
    • Speaking of that, I wanted to bring this to your attention as well: 2975 BBY. Currently, it has two redirect links. Are you using monobook or the default new Wikia skin? If monobook, I have a stylesheet code that changes the font color of redirects. It definitely helps out the editor. JangFett (Talk) 03:14, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
      • I believe it is the new look. Can you fix the redirects? Matt Seay (talk) 03:17, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
        • No worries, but do not rely on others to fix your mistakes. If you want to check to see if an article is a redirect without the code, be sure to check to see if you are using the full name of the subject and its article does not display "Redirected from ___" under the title of the article. Or somewhere, I'm not too familiar with the new skin. :P I'll correct the links, but please be sure to check them yourself in the future. JangFett (Talk) 03:26, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
          • Okay, thank you. You have been very helpful. Matt Seay (talk) 03:29, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
            • No problem. Here is my edit for future reference: [1] JangFett (Talk) 03:30, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • Matt, remember what we just discussed. Try not to abuse the image upload tool or else you may get blocked for disruption. Failure to not properly source and/or upload proper resolutions (in this case you did with your recent Ahsoka image) does count toward it. You did this several times now, so please be more careful. JangFett (Talk) 03:41, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • Sorry, maybe I should just never try to upload images again. Looks like I should stick to editing text in articles and not images. Looks like this will be my last time I try it. No more image uploading for me then. Matt Seay (talk) 03:43, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • For images from The Clone Wars, the source would be the episode that image came from, not the website that you found it on. Please keep this in mind. Thanks. Trak Nar Ramble on 06:52, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • My bad, I thought since I did not capture that picture from the DVD myself I needed to source from a site, I will keep this in mind, thanks for the tip. Can I re upload that pic for Unit 06. Matt Seay (talk) 06:58, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
    • As long as you have the correct sourcing information, yes. Trak Nar Ramble on 07:03, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • Okay, I am trying to add it back with the right source but I keep getting error messages saying the file already exists, but I thought it was removed. What should I do? Matt Seay (talk) 07:12, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

Blaster images Edit

Are those blaster images from legitimate sources, or are they fan-built? If they are from a legitimate source, then you need to list that as the source, not the forum that you found it on. If they are fan-built, they are fanon and therefore not allowed. Please keep that in mind when uploading images. Trak Nar Ramble on 09:06, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

  • I believe the czerka 300 is legit, the drawing. I will try to find better images. I thought those were good, but the source is a bit shady. I will be more careful. Matt Seay (talk) 09:08, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

Also, you need to source your articles. What source did those pistols come from? Trak Nar Ramble on 09:09, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

  • The pics, came from jedivssith.com. If that is what you mean. Matt Seay (talk) 09:10, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
    • And that is a website. Are they legit? Are they canon? Or, are these fanon? If they are fanon, I'll be deleting the articles. If they came from a role-playing manual, then that source needs to be stated in the articles, as well. Otherwise, where did they come from? Trak Nar Ramble on 09:14, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • These weapons are listed on the artice Czerka Arms under the products list. I don't know that much about them but I am pretty sure they are mention in KOTOR somewhere. I checked out the site, looks like it is a role playing game. Does not look cannon, but the blasters are, just need to find a cannon source for them. Matt Seay (talk) 09:17, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
    • Technically, you should have searched for the canon source before you made the articles. Our job is to chronicle canon, and we cannot use fan sites like jedivssith.com. We cannot rely on information from such fan sites, either, as fans have a tendency to take liberties with canon, especially when it comes to role-playing. I know that when I role-play, I throw a lot of canon right out the window. But, I don't do that here. I make sure that I find the sources I need and get the correct information from them. We're not perfect, I will freely admit that. But for this site, we need to try to be as close to perfect as possible. And we need to make sure that all of our information is reliable and sourced. Trak Nar Ramble on 09:27, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • I am terribly sorry for this. I only wish to help and do my part. I have improved articles and made some really good ones before, but, I made a mistake here is all. If no info can be found for these blasters then they do not need to be on the Czerka arms article, if I can't find some cannon info and sources in let's say, the next day or so, then i say delete, but if I am able to then we should keep it. Matt Seay (talk) 09:33, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • The {{Verify}} tag gives the articles seven days to live. So, you will have a week to find the source. It's not a mad rush, but editing on here, if you're still relatively unfamiliar with how things work, will take some time to get used to. As other have said before, perhaps you should do some minor edits for a while. Search random articles for minor errors to correct. This way, you'll be able to see how articles are constructed, categorized, and sourced. And you'll still be making helpful contributions. About 90 % of my edits are minor and there is no shame in doing nothing but minor edits. It's the people who do these minor edits that keep the wiki going. We grease the wheels, wind the cogs, tighten the springs. Without general maintenance, everything would fall apart. So, I suggest you do some minor editing for a while so that you can further familiarize yourself with how things work. Trak Nar Ramble on 09:41, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • Yeah, I know. I just love Star Wars and wanna help make this wiki even greater. I have some good minor edits, I will continue to do so. I have seen that those blasters appear on a lot of forums alongside cannon weapons as well. That is all I have right now. I know all you admins probably hate telling me the same thing over and over again lol, But I am trying. Matt Seay (talk) 09:45, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
