Welcome Menkooroo!

Hello and welcome to Wookieepedia. I hope you like the place and choose to join our work. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the Senate Hall, visit our official IRC channel, or ask me on my talk page. May the Force be with you! — Imp 14:04, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

29 ABY

I think it's always been our policy to just follow the official dates, just that when the wiki was new everyone put down 30 ABY as a mistake and there's been no wide-scale push to correct it in every article. Kuralyov 18:56, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

  • If you want to start doing a wide-scale change, that would be helpful. No one can really argue since it's been established pretty thoroughly by now that that's the date. Kuralyov 03:58, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
    • One idea would be to go to the 30 ABY page and see what links there. Chances are just about everything should be going to 29 ABY instead. Kuralyov 20:20, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

hi i'm DarTah Ravin' I'm have about the same backround as you. I live in [a suburb of] DC. You should see my user page. I want to start a project so tell me if you will help.

Generally speaking, one shouldn't create a new image simply to resize an old one. It's possible to resize them with a simple modification to the code you're writing; for example, [[File:Syn-mugshot.JPG|15px]] creates a very small version of your Jariah Syn mugshot: Syn-mugshot.JPG. I've deleted and replaced a number of your mugshots in the Star Wars Legacy article by using this code with the pre-existing images, setting the size to 125px. That said, also look at the file information I've added to the mugshots that weren't deleted; they should give a good idea of how best to add information for any cropped images you may need to upload in the future. Thanks, and my apologies for editing an article currently under your Inuse template. jSarek 12:19, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Dark Times

Hi, Menkooroo. Are you planning on continuing working on Star Wars: Dark Times? If not, can you please remove the {{Inuse}} template from it as soon as you get this message? From checking the article's history, it has been the better part of a month and a half since the last time you edited this article, and I feel that that is long enough. If you are planning on continuing your work on it, then might I suggest that you edit it regularly while you have the "inuse" template up. If not, then myself or another administrator will remove the template at an appropriate time, thus freeing up the article for other users to edit it and/or work on. Thanks for your understanding in this, Greyman(Talk) 13:29, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks for your words regarding myself, and thanks for your cooperation with the Dark Times article. Hopefully one day you can turn it into an FA ;) Cheers, Greyman(Talk) 11:19, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Dark Times mugshots

  • Yes, image deletion is strictly for admins, and yes, I've nailed the ones you've listed for me. You're welcome. :-) jSarek 13:46, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Imperial Knights

Since the nom is going to vanish from the FAN page, I'll answer here. I haven't read it fully, so there's probably more to say, but here's my impressions from skimming.

Generally, you might want to check out the other Featured articles on organizations—particularly Force-using ones like Matukai or Dark Side Elite—to get an idea of how they did it and what sort of sections and focus you should have. There's no hard and fast rules for organization articles, but it might help to see what others did. Stylewise, we generally prefer to refer to characters by their last names for formality, except where there's more than one character with the same one (like the Fels); even there, I'd probably use "Marasiah" over "Sia", again for formality.

On specific sections:

Notable members is one of the best-focused sections; all of the characters' descriptions seem to be relevant to their service as IKs. I've only seen sections like this in squadron articles, but it's not wrong; my only suggestion for now would be to have it after history. As a Fel and a high-ranking member, Mohrgan would warrant inclusion as well.

A lot of those conversations you recount in history should be mined for Organization and philosophy'. You might have already, as I see the killing of those who betray the IKs is in there; in general, go through for things like that that give insight into how they think and work. You also still have unsourced statements here and speculation like some of the things on gray Jedi. There's a mention here of Jedi joining the IKs that should be included in history as well (it can go in both, just reword it a bit as appropriate).

Armor and equipment lacks some sourcing too. You mention Azyln's non-standard outfit; Sinde and Dare could be mentioned regarding that as well. Powers and abilities looks good. I don't know if there's any information that could be added to these, so I guess my only advice is make sure it's all there. In the first paragraph, P&A could maybe repeat, with some rewording, that bit about not using the dark but not strictly following the light. The one-sentence paragraph should probably be merged, unless you can think of more stuff like that to add to it.

Behind the scenes needs more organization; it's something of a haphazard list of trivia at the moment. My suggestion would be to start with the creation, talk about the creators' ideas about them, move onto publishing history, and then fan reaction. The bit about the Imperial Jedi in the early drafts, for example, could be moved very near the beginning. I'd also suggest using Google to search The Jedi Council Forums and The Dark Horse Boards to find anything Jan or John said about them that would be useful. Googling "Imperial Knights" Jan_Duursema site:boards.theforce.net would get you Jan on the JCF, for example; I forget John's user name there and both of theirs at Dark Horse, but it should be easy to find with some poking around.

Hope that's helpful for now, and good luck. - Lord Hydronium 04:01, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Heh, I had no idea when I wrote this that you're Jeff Ferguson. A belated hi, Jeff. - Lord Hydronium 23:41, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey, Menkooroo, I noticed on the WP:FAN page that you regularly update Legacy articles and write some, so would you like to join WookieeProject Legacy Era? It is a project started by me and a few other users to improve LOTF and Legacy articles, and eventually bring them to either Good and/or Featured status. Interested? DC 00:32, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

WookieeProject Legacy Era

Hey, Menkooroo :-). I have recently taken over as Project Lead for WookieeProject Legacy Era and am trying to get a feel for who would like to continue participating in the project. If you would like to continue contributing to the Project, please leave me a message on my talk page within the week. Otherwise, I will assume that you have prior commitments that will keep you from being able to participate. Thank you :-). Grunny (Talk) 12:09, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Yeah, that's fine :-). I just re-evaluated the members when I took over and looked at who had been missing for over a month, so please do add your name again :D. Grunny (Talk) 00:38, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I addressed your objection on Quoreal. Can you check it out please? -- Harrar (Cut the comm chatter) 12:14, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

Hi dude,

That sounds pretty convincing that it's Lumiya and is probably worthy of a BtS note if nothing else, but I'm not in charge of the Marvel section for Lumiya as I don't own any of the comics; I'm in fact waiting to return to my collection and write much of the LOTF material. You want to talk to Tommy about it in fact! Cheers -- Harrar (Cut the comm chatter) 12:51, December 1, 2009 (UTC)

Re: Droma

Hey Menkooroo. "Legacy" sections are typically reserved for those who have died or have made some sort of impact in later history. I don't think two sentences really warrant a different section, I think it would be best to put those sentences at the end of the previous section or leave them out entirely. That's my two cents. Xicer9Atgar.svg(Combadge) 05:00, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

  • It looks better now, as does everything else. Good work. Xicer9Atgar.svg(Combadge) 05:29, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

When you crop a headshot from a larger image and the full image is in JPG format, then the cropped image should also be in JPG format, not PNG. That said, I've marked File:Chokaheadshot.PNG for deletion and uploaded File:Chokaheadshot.jpg which I cropped from the source file for you. You'll want to replace the PNG version with the JPG version on your workbench page. - JMAS Jolly Trooper.png Hey, it's me! 13:02, December 23, 2009 (UTC)

  • Seems like an odd policy, but cool, thanks for the assistance. Menkooroo 13:11, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
    • It's not a policy. It's common sense. It serves no purpose to take a JPG image, crop it down and then save it in another format. If an image is in one format, it should stay in the format, unless you rescan the image completely. I'm not trying to come down on you. Just sharing things I've learned having people come down hard on me about it in the past. - JMAS Jolly Trooper.png Hey, it's me! 13:18, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
    • Also, would you like me to reupload all the other headshots you recently uploaded in JPG format as well? And on second look, I see that it is actually a policy here. - JMAS Jolly Trooper.png Hey, it's me! 13:23, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
      • Thanks for the policy link. The only reason I saved them as PNG's is because MSPaint is the only image editing program I have, and saving MSPaint files as Jpeg's usually visibly reduces the quality. If you wouldn't mind reuploading them, I'd be very grateful, but don't feel like you have to --- I can do it, as long as you don't mind lower-quality images. Menkooroo 14:13, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
        • I'm out of town right now, but I'd be happy to take care of that when I'm back home. - JMAS Jolly Trooper.png Hey, it's me! 05:47, December 26, 2009 (UTC)
          • Thanks for all of your help. Merry Christmas! Menkooroo 05:54, December 26, 2009 (UTC)
            • I've got something for ya. JPEGcrop It's a free program that losslessly crops JPEG images. You can use that in place of MS Paint for cropping images. - JMAS Jolly Trooper.png Hey, it's me! 21:30, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

Re:Cade Skywalkah

Cool! I was actually going to ask you if you wanted to help me with Cade's article. I gotta do some expanding for the last few comics, plus expand his P&T and P&A. Please let me know if you would like to help me with this.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 17:26, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

  • Sweet, I actually have the sub-page here, if you wanted to work on that. No problem, and if there's anything you need help with, let me know.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 19:19, December 28, 2009 (UTC)
  • Man, that's some good work, thanks. I'l re-read Trust Issues and see. By the way, Tommy's supposed to take care of the intro. He's currently busy on other projects, but he'll get it done. When we're finished with the article, would you like to co-nominate Cade with me?--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 18:17, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
  • That looks great. Yeah, I'll see if I can find quotes for Cade's lovely ladies, ans stick them under the sub-sections. Please let me know what you think. Yeah, we are both over the 3-nom limit, aren't we? Tommy is also supposed to co-nom this with me, I think with all of use doing covering Cade we can ensure that his article is top-notch, especially since new info comes out on him for basically every issue.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 15:31, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  • I re-read Trust Issues like you asked, and Cade doesn't appear in anything other than holograms.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 13:30, January 7, 2010 (UTC)
  • No problem, I gotta get to working on his latest info in the bio. That dude was being beat up by Morrigan Corde, he does look like Cade, though.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 13:18, January 8, 2010 (UTC)
  • OK, I've added the latest info to Cade's bio, also added an interesting note from the letters section of the recent issue. I'll ask Grunny for images.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 17:45, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
  • Um... if you could go over the info from the bio and check for problems, and tell me, I'd appreciate that. You're doing a good job, Menkooroo.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 18:06, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

File:Gundark grabs Artoo.jpg

Just wanted to give you a heads up that I marked File:Dragonflypursuit.png for deletion as it has been reuploaded in JPG format as it should be, also with better contrast. I went ahead and replaced the duplicate on your personal Artoo workbench and wanted to let you know. - JMAS Jolly Trooper.png Hey, it's me! 13:34, January 25, 2010 (UTC)

  • Awesome, thanks. Sorry I haven't used that JPEGcropper you linked me to, and thank you, by the way, for the link. I should have my NJO headshots replaced with JPEG's by the end of the week. Menkooroo 14:13, January 25, 2010 (UTC)
  • Holy crap! The images looks miles better now. Shit, thanks for that. Menkooroo 14:15, January 25, 2010 (UTC)

Since I know Artoo is an ongoing project for ya, I thought you'd find this image useful when you update his page for the Boba Fett arc of TCW. - JMAS Jolly Trooper.png Hey, it's me! 13:57, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Menkooroo,

That is a possibility, because I only view 15 posts per page. No, there is no required assumption for how many posts an individual is viewing at a time, but see how it can cause confusion. I asked for a second opinion and they also saw that the original link was not linked to any discussion about Draco, but that the one I replaced it with was. I'm not quite sure how to rectify this, so let me ask around. Sound cool?Tommy 9281 00:53, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

  • I think that would be acceptable until (if/when) someone else comes up with a better solution.Tommy 9281 04:13, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

First off, don't worry about being a "dink". We are all busy, you and I got a bunch of noms, so there'e no problem there. Now to the main issue, I was actually thinking about this, glad you brought this up. There is no reason why the sub-page shouldn't remain. However, I think it would be best to wait to nom it until the series' end is in sight. This would give us plenty of time to work on the article (unless they decide to end things at #50, which would suck.) and make sure it is of the highest quality. Getting other experienced users to look over the thing after the final product would be a good idea as well.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 15:06, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

  • OK, I moved your objections on the sub-page's talk page. I'm still taking care of some of them, so. And regarding moving the contents to the actual article, that is actually what I had planned to do. I have done this for Kreia, Revan, and others, so it makes sense to do it here. Then the sub-page would be used as a back-up and a testing ground for new info. I think it was good to be nit-picky about those things. It might technically be my workbench, but since it's our co-project, feel free to make any changes as you see fit. If there is an issue, we can discuss it on the workbench talk page.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 19:56, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Lord Gaalan's name.

I was reading Backlash, and isn't Lord Gaalan's name really Viun, not Vius?

  • Wow. Yeah, it is. My bad. Thanks for the heads-up. I just fixed the problem. Menkooroo 07:46, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

Creating articles

Hey Menkooroo, glad to see another user working on FotJ articles! :) Just a quick reminder: when creating new pages, remember that the {{Eras}} template should always be at the top, unless the {{Title}} template is used; and also remember that the {{Title}} template is not needed unless the title of an article needs to be italicized or in some way needs to appear differently than how it would appear by default. Thanks! Jonjedigrandmaster Jedi symbol.svg (We seed the stars) 13:54, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

"# cleanup"

I see these tags on edits all the time and don't understand them. I assume that "1.1" refers to some part of the style guide for wookieepedia? So "1.1" would refer to Wookieepedia:Manual of Style, section 1.1 "In-universe"? —fodigg (talk) | 16:38, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

  • Oh cool, even after you told me about it, it took me a minute to find the drop-down. Thanks! —fodigg (talk) | 17:01, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Sure, go ahead, and good luck with the projects. Chack Jadson (Talk) 19:10, March 30, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Menkooroo, thanks for the congrats on the FAN, and right back at you. And thanks for the extra webcomics, I've been checking out Cyanide and Happiness, and will check the others too. Cheers! Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith -Just shy, not antisocial: You can talk to me!- 11:58, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

Affiliation request

I am the founder and head of a small fan labor publishing group, called Fanatical Publishing; we currently publish two e-zines(almost 200 subscribers and growing), and plan on more.

I want to affiliate with groups like yours, to reach a wider fan base and provide better service to our subscribers.

Obviously, you'd want to check out the group before you make any decision; for further information, please check out the group at http://fanatical-publishing.deviantart.com/ or e-mail me at hans.mahler@gmail.com

Link templates

I noticed on File:Thejawsthatbite.jpg that you used the {{Cite web}} template for a StarWars.com url. Just wanted to let you know that there is a specific template - {{SW}} - for starwars.com URLs. Cheers. - JMAS Jolly Trooper.png Hey, it's me! 15:47, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

  • Crap, I knew that, too; nice one, Ferg. Thanks for the reminder. Menkooroo 16:30, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Draco

Thank you for your promptness to address the matter. As long as you feel committed to updating the article, then it should be fine staying up on the FAN. However, if he's going to be given an overhaul with new info in the next issue, I personally feel more comfortable with waiting until that's done, as that also ensures better quality. Additionally, I just want you to understand that the Inqs aren't abstaining from reviewing your noms out of any question of your abilities; the reason is that some Legacy FAs—including Darth Wyyrlok (III), Nyna Calixte, Wolf Sazen, Jhoram Bey, and Gar Stazi—have been completely ignored and failed to be updated. Hope that helps. I'll review Sigel and Ganner if and when I get the chance. CC7567 (talk) 04:01, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

  • While no, we do not notify nominators when their articles are probed, we at the very least expect nominators to be aware of the status of their own articles, which we believe is only fair. And we do quite clearly place a tag on the article when it is probed—we don't view it as our job to get after nominators if their articles are not up to par. CC7567 (talk) 04:10, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

RE:Sparring partner

I thouight about it like this: 1) She's using a lightsaber, and an IK saber at that, so she has to have some Force-sensitivity or training of some kind, more likely the former. 2) The only people in the galaxy-at-large are Sith and IK—since she doesn't have Sith tattoos and is in the presence of Emperor Fel, let alone allowed to spar with him on any kind of friendly terms, she can't be a Sith. I know that otherwise the possibility she might be a Jedi could exist, but that isn't possible either because the empire-in-exile doesn't harbor them. Her being an IK is the only possibility. NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo.png 19:40, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

  • OK, I see your point, however, the name of the article shouldn't be "Unidentified sparring partner." It should be changed to something like "Unidentified female duelist" or anything a little more specific to her as a character and not Fel. NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo.png 05:06, April 9, 2010 (UTC)
    • Cool. Thanks for clearing that up with me. *handshakes, knuckle-bumps, etc.* NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo.png 05:18, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Relin Druur

Hey, could you point out which "meanwhile" you meant? It's used three times in the article, and since you didn't specify which one you thought should be removed, I assumed it was the one that pertained to the above objection. Anyway, I looked through the ones I have now, and I couldn't see any that were out of place. Which one were you talking about? Jonjedigrandmaster Jedi symbol.svg (We seed the stars) 17:00, April 15, 2010 (UTC)

Caamas document

Are you sure this is Caamas document? I though they said in the story that it was a data card, and that doesn't look like one. Or is this one of those "artistic liberties" things?--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 20:35, April 17, 2010 (UTC)

To be honest I can't think of anything else what it could be either, but it has been a while since I read the Spectre.--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 13:49, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

With respect, I'm sorry but it did end in 4,990 BBY, go and have a look at the source yourself. It is canon, and it can't be argued with unless a higher form of canon overrides it. When you undid my edit you gave no reasoning or evidence, could you please change it back to 4,990 BBY as I do not want to change it back in risk of starting an edit war. • Yup, all good. It was 1:30 am when I posted here so I was tired and went to bed after looking at the 5,000 BBY page, also my internet was stuffing up. So that's why I didn't comment on your talk page or the 5,000 BBY one till just now. Everything's sorted then. :) Obi-wan Jacobi Jedi Symbol Dark Chrome.JPG 21:46, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Ambition

Hi Menkooroo :-). A while ago we decided that since the Empire features prominently in the Legacy Era, we would collaborate and noms that fit into both projects would be considered part of both projects as it would be mutually beneficial. So their writers that wrote Imperial articles from the Legacy would be considered crossovers with WP:LE and likewise for articles written as part of our project that were Imperial. See Forum:Collaboration with WP:AMB and Forum:Collaboration with WP:LE. It's not really a big deal, just means both projects benefit from working together :-). If you're not happy with it, feel free to remove the noms from the WP:AMB page. Great work on all the Imp Knight articles! Cheers, Grunny (talk) 09:28, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

That picture of Corran

I got bored of "vandalizing" the FAN page with our conversation about my choise of a picture for Corran in Celchu Trial. I finally think I found my way around your objection of it. You propably already figured out that it happens to be my favourite picture of Corran... And you told me to "be creative" in the matter, so I did get creative (in my own way). I have a tendency to get stubborn sometimes.--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 14:09, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

I would like to see the saber, but it's not that important. Besides, we can see it in some of the other pics. Again, if you didn't get my message on Facebook, yeah, I would have been working on it more, but have been bogged down some.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 02:18, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Hey. Thanks for that, I'd actually totally forgotten about that work on Garm. It's definitely better having it in the article than hidden away, even if I never finish it. I'd like to, but I'm not sure if I'd have the time or energy for it. Perhaps I'll do some over the summer. Yuvernian sources

Hey, Menkooroo. Nice work on the Yuvernian article. Let me know if you need info from the sources I mentioned in the article review. I know some of them are kind of obscure, so I'll be happy to help out! ~ SavageBob 15:19, May 25, 2010 (UTC)

  • Ha ha! I suspect that Skippy and I both had the article on our watchlists with the vague idea that we might expand the article one day. Good to see you got to it first! :) I'll check those sources later this evening. (Chronicles has some useful info too, by the way, but I suppose you got that one.) ~ SavageBob 16:07, May 25, 2010 (UTC)
    • Crap, should have responded here and not at your talk page. Sorry about that. Thanks again for the help! Quick question --- do you have the CSWE, and if so, does it mention in Adiss's entry that he's a Yuvernian? Menkooroo 16:23, May 25, 2010 (UTC)
    • I was also watching the article take shape! I was going to ask you about the 4 ABY date for the Battle of Yuvern, but I see you've already changed it to an indeterminate date prior to 4 ABY. My review will no doubt follow in due course. :) --Eyrezer 23:25, May 25, 2010 (UTC)
  • OK, here's what Behind the Magic has on the Yuvernians: There's an image of Cane Adiss, with the note, "The two-headed Cane Adiss was seen only briefly in 'The Making of Return of the Jedi." Then there's a behind-the-scenes image of him under construction with the note, "This creature, known as Cane Adiss, was built for Jedi but was only seen briefly in 'The Making of Return of the Jedi." Finally, there's an image of the creature shop with an array of creatures created for ROTJ, and Adiss is among them. He has a "NO HUNTING" sign hanging from one neck. Two of the behind-the-scenes images are here and here. Hopefully one of them will be useful for BTS; the other can be deleted in due course, but perhaps you can glean a bit of new info from them? For example, I don't see the hair you asked about.
    • Awesome! Beefed up bts with that info. And I used both images --- I like the black and white one for the bio because it demonstrates most of the traits that are mentioned in Biology & appearance.
  • In The Art of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, there's an image of the Cane Adiss maquette on p. 28, on a table with a bunch of other maquettes. His necks are much longer in relation to his head, and they seem to be snaking around each other. A better image of this maquette appears in Chronicles, but you seem to have access to that book.
    • Both books added to the sources.
  • Finally, CSWE does indeed mention that Adiss was a Yuvernian. It calls him "an adventurous Yuvernian space pilot who resembled a two-headed snake." The rest is nothing new. However, it does print the black-and-white image I linked to above, File:Cane Adiss puppet.jpg, which canonizes that BTS image and makes it fair game for the in-universe section of the article. It might be a good one to include for that reason, to fill out some of the main article with another illustration if you wish. Page ref.: CSWE vol. 1, p. 11. No entry for Yuvern or Yuvernian. Hope this helps! ~ SavageBob 00:53, May 26, 2010 (UTC)
    • Great; added CSWE to the sources list. Thank you for all of your help! Menkooroo 04:17, May 26, 2010 (UTC)

Removal of link on R2-D2

Hi, why did you remove the link from Panaka whose quote is used in the article? You should always provide edit summaries for your edits, especially if you're undoing the work of others that is not vandalism. --TheBearPaw 10:25, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. I understand overlinking, but can't the link still be there beside the quote? I mean just like people put separate links in article infoboxes or in picture captions - just for quick access? You know, like a person reads the quote right when he sees the article and thinks "Who the hell is this Panaka?" but doesn't have to scroll down all the way to the Naboo section to find the link to check it out. Even here in the example of quotes from the Wookieepedia policy the authors of quotes are linked. Or in any other page, e.g.: Darth Vader or Obi-Wan Kenobi to name just a few. ;) --TheBearPaw 11:45, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

QOTD question.

Hello, I had a question about nominating a quote of the day, and I was hoping you might be able to answer it. I am wondering if what Yoda and Darth Vader say during the TomTom rehersals can be used as quotes for the Reference to other media category? I was wanting to nominate what Yoda and Vader say, as a funny type of quote, but I am not sure if what they say can be used. Any help will be appreciated, thanks! Darth Nihl

Dear Menkooroo,

As controversial though you may have found my decision to update the intro, the early life, the P&T and P&A sections, source the unsourced material in this article and generally save it from the FA chopping block (which it should have gone on a while back if we're honest), I think you could have perhaps waited more than three minutes before arbitrarily wiping out the three hours of work I put into the article. I don't believe you can have had time to read through the numerous examples of poor wording, non-Nihl POV and grammatical mistakes I discovered as I brought this year-old FA up to standards. I wonder if you might have had time to consult User:Grunny, User:Jonjedigrandmaster or User:Tommy9281, all of whom are members of the Inqs specialising in the Legacy era, and ask them if they felt my contributions were valuable.

The original writer of this FA is long gone. The notice at the top of the article read that any additions I made should be well-written, sourced, and for the benefit of the article. Without wanting to appear argumentative, I would like you to detail to me those changes I made, in my considerable effort to improve this article, that fell short of these standards.

  • Hey there. Tommy's been taking care of the article, updating it for new material and keeping it clean and stuff. The "poor wording" you speak of was stylistically different than yours, but still correct and of good quality. The article is also completely sourced. Your intent to improve is admirable, though, and I don't want to discourage you from doing so. You just have to be really careful with FA's. I recommend consulting Tommy, since he's the current caretaker of the article, and getting his advice on the matter. Definitely keep up the efforts to improve the Wook --- and feel free to register an account and fully join the community! Sorry for being so quick to revert; I do stand by my decision, but I regret that it made short work of three hours of your time. Menkooroo 13:15, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

I have the third edition, but not the second.

Page, Lieutenant: A top New Republic officer and undercover operative, he grew up as the pampered son of a corrupt Imperial senator from Corulag. He idolized the ancient Jedi Knights and dedicated himself to their ideals. He was forced into the Imperial Academy, and upon graduation he was assigned to General Maximilian Veers's ground-assault command. While on leave, he heard Senator Leia Organa speak on the subject of galactic rights. She inspired him to defect and join the Alliance. He became part of General Crix Madine's and Major Bren Derlin's commando units and was eventually offered command of his own squad. He decided to keep the rank of lieutenant as a sign of humility.

Page's Commandos: A special-missions team officially called the Katarn Commandos, the unit consisted of twelve of the best-trained soldiers serving the Republic. Officially, the special-forces unit was attached to the office of the commander in chief, but in practice it often operated independently for weeks or months at a time. It was a rogue team, like Wedge Antilles's Rogue Squadron, with no set mission profile but designed to handle most assignments. It operated either as a single unit or broken up into smaller elements; all members were trained to work in any environment. Each soldier was a jack-of-all-trades as well as a specialist in a single field. The team included Lilla Dade, the pathfinder or scout; Gottu and Idow, urban combat specialists; Frorral the Wookiee, wilderness fighter; Mian Hoob of Sullust and Korren of Alderaan, team technicians; the Bothan Kasck, infiltrator and shadow; Vandro, heavy weapons and repulsorlift specialist; Syla Tors, ex-Corellian pirate and pilot; and Jortan and Bri'vin, medical technicians. The assault squad participated in the offensive against the Maw Installation. Havac 04:49, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

  • All characters in the game likewise have encyclopedia entries in the guide, but they are not identical. And the guide should not be considered IU text. Rather, it corresponds to his in-game role: "Page is almost perfectly suited to performing difficult assignments on Imperial systems. His espionage skills give him a good chance of acting undetected, and his combat abilities allow him to get out of difficult situations. He's an excellent choice for abduction and sabotage missions." Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:25, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Menkooroo. Thanks for your FAN comments and your kind words over at my George Roubicek nom. It's good to see someone else with enthusiasm for actor articles. (On a related note...your Bea Arthur FA? Brilliant. Just plain bloody brilliant stuff.) I've been kicking around the idea of starting a WookieeProject specifically focused on actor articles and other OOC pages. I thought maybe it could lead to greater improvements on those pages and maybe even some more ambitious goals, like an article improvement drive to bring one major actor page (like Mark Hamill or Ewan McGregor or whatever) to FA every two or three months. I've already inquired to another user about this. Do you think this is something you would perhaps be interested in? — Hunter Kahn 05:51, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

  • I've been reading up on some of your other OOU contributions. Fantastic! The Sunrider naming controversy is great, without precident! And Into the Great Unknown was great fun to read. (I've always wanted to do a similar GA/FA on Skippy the Jedi Droid, but have had trouble finding sources for it.) Anyway, enough gushing. lol. I had originally been thinking of a WP focused strictly on actors, because that was one of my main interests, but the more I think about it, the more I think a general "WookieeProject OOU" encompassing all out of university topics makes a lot more sense. I'm gonna start working on a WookieProject page in my userspace, and I'll bring it to your attention before I bring it public in case you had any thoughts or suggestions or whatever... (And hell yeah, but all means, go to town on Lee and Williams. Let me know if you need or want any help.) — Hunter Kahn 17:20, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Menk. Thanks for reviewing the Chad Hilse GAN. Just wanted to let you know that somebody has voiced at the GAN site that they don't believe possible appearances are supposed to be listed in appearances. Since you were the one that suggested it be placed there, I thought maybe you could weigh in on it? Thanks in advance! Menkooroo, you told me several times in the Battle of Endor nomination that there was a problem with my screen resolution. Is there a preferred resolution for Wookieepedia or not? That would help.--ID-21 Dolphin 20:12, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

Re: The Dirty Dozen

Looks good, but I just found out that part 1 of The Dark Forces Saga actually published that information before Galaxy at War, so the last sentence needs to be adjusted (and probably the sourcing for the bio statement as well). Now I'm wondering whether we can actually name Syn and Makati in the body, since it seems to be a pretty clear implication that those were the same battles in the Grand Admirals article. Oh by the way, that Garos IV battle is probably the one from Betrayal by Knight in AJ12, so check that out if you need to. Xicer9Atgar.svg(Combadge) 16:00, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Peter Cushing

Hey Menk, it's Hunter. I've been working on the Peter Cushing article, and I've found that although a lot has been written about his life, he never really spoke in interviews all that much about Star Wars. Since you're great with the BTS/OOU stuff, I thought maybe you would know of some references that might include some behind the scenes on the filming of ANH, and if you could direct me to any that might have info on Cushing? Let me know. Thanks! — Hunter Kahn 13:32, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

  • Thanks, this has been really helpful. The Making of Star Wars book in particular was great. I'm getting very close to finishing up with this article now. I'll definitely check out the SWI mag when it comes out in November. Not sure if I'll wait until then to nominate it though, especially since it sounds like it's going to mostly be a combination of stuff from past Insider magazines that has already been written about Cushing... — Hunter Kahn 23:08, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
    • I'm glad you liked the FT/GT proposal. I think it would be a perfect fit here at the Wook, but after the discussion at the Senate Hall, my feeling is that there isn't enough consensus at this time to establish it here. Maybe that'll change, I guess we'll have to see. Have fun on the vacation! Where you heading? — Hunter Kahn 02:19, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Menkooroo, I've been given a deadline of this Friday to find all available sources/appearances for the Battle of Endor, lest the nomination be removed (though I can re-nominate it after the list is complete). I'm not able to because it's blocked at my school (for shopping purposes). If you could, that help a lot. There's also some info on other themes, but I'm focusing on the Main Title. Hello. Ummmm.....so should I add you to the participants list on WP:RWM or do you wanna wait. Also, go ahead and hold off on the review as I just remembered some info and added it, but haven't got to source it yet. Thanks! MasterFredCommerce Guild.svg(Whatever) 22:39, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

  • OK, I'm trying to find a reliable source so I can source the "Similarities with other compositions" section on the Main Title article. I've spent most of my Internet time looking to no avail. All I can find our tons of forums and other unreliable sites, and Wikipedia. Do you have any ideas? MasterFredCommerce Guild.svg(Whatever) 12:51, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

Tense thing again

Hey, I threw this together based on our conversation yesterday. Take a look when you get a chance! ~ SavageBob 00:10, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

  • Looks good. Is it headed for the senate hall? Menkooroo 03:48, November 3, 2010 (UTC)
    • Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was better to go to senate hall first or jump to CT-land. I wanted to show you first so you could edit if you wish; I don't want to misrepresent the past-tense side, after all. :) ~ SavageBob 04:41, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Menk, would you accept a nomination to be a member of the Wookieepedia:EduCorps? Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 17:01, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

  • Awe phooey. I had a whole nice thing written up on how great you are :P Meh, I'll find something else to nominate you for somewhere down the line and use it then. Let me know if you change your mind—the offer will remain open! Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 07:40, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

Just to let you know, you were right. The word count for General Grievous Theme is now at 259, and thus it has been moved to the GAN page. Just wanted to make sure so you didn't get to the CAN page and go, "What the heck!" :P MasterFredCommerce Guild.svg(Whatever) 04:02, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

Gotal Week

Hey Menk. After the conclusion of a very successful Gotal "week", which you initiated, I thought I'd share the current tally of Gotals with you. Have a look at the bottom of this page! Provided all current Gotal noms pass, there will be 18 Gotals taken to status. :D --Eyrezer 22:08, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Save the Gotals!

As a known Gotal lover, I wish to inform you of Operation: Save the Gotals. Your help would be greatly appreciated, but the Gotals understand if you cannot help out. They will cry, though. ~ SavageBob 00:43, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

  • I will help. :) I'll probably be able to do quite a bit on Monday. Menkooroo 03:11, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Unidentified Gotal bounty hunter

"So—are you still worried about being sent to the Agricultural Corps?"
Unidentified Gotal bounty hunter has been approved by the AgriCorps and awarded Good status. Feel free to add the {{User GA}} template to your userpage to acknowledge your hard work. The AgriCorps thanks you for your efforts, and looks forward to future nominations from you! — Grunny (Talk) 02:37, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Favor

It looks really well thought out, I'd say it's just about ready to go. Though I would probably suggest giving some explanation in your proposal as to why certain sections, such as "Editions," "Publisher's summary," and "Cover gallery" will be removed from the MoS. People are probably going to ask about that. Also, I was a bit confused by what you were proposing for the second vote. So you're saying we should replace the section in the MoS about "OOU articles on reference works" with one specifically for published narrative works? Xicer9Atgar.svg(Combadge) 04:01, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

  • Alright, that makes sense. "Published narrative work" is probably the clearest phrasing you could use, so I would keep it like that. Xicer9Atgar.svg(Combadge) 04:38, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
    • From what I read, it looks fine to me, and I think it would be best to leave it up to the community to hash out any potential areas of disagreement or ones that require clarification. CC7567 (talk) 06:11, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Cushing

Hey Menk. Yeah, I haven't been able to be very active lately, things have been pretty busy. I'm seriously considering buying a house, and have a few other major real-life things going on. However, I'm still planning on being responsive to my ongoing FA noms, and I did get your email, although I haven't had a chance yet to look at the source. I plan/hope to do that in the next day or two, and will definitely get to it by no later than Saturday. Thanks for the help! — Hunter Kahn 16:40, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

  • So I looked at the source. Very interesting stuff, although for the most part I felt that it repeated stuff that was already in the article. I added some new information, though, as well as some new citation tags to reinforce info that was already written. Let me know if you think it's sufficient. Thanks! — Hunter Kahn 01:29, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Lumpy

  • Happy to help. The only mention about Lumpy is "that Chewbacca has a family on Kahshyyyk including his wife, Lumpy and his father". Hope that helps. Clone Commander Lee Talk 19:19, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Galaxies

  • I believe this is where his appearance in SWG is. It was a painting given out during Life Day 2008. I don't know of any other appearances of him in the game, or even mentions. Hope this helps. OLIOSTER (talk) 13:34, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Favor

Toughest Ever Creatures just mentions his stuffed bantha toy. As for the trivia book, question 57 asks: "What's the name of Chewbacca's son?" The choices are: a. Lowbacca, b. Lumpawarump, c. Chewbacca, Jr. (note the misspelling of Lumpawarrump). Xicer9Atgar.svg(Combadge) 15:39, December 7, 2010 (UTC)
