Moderation problem

Hello, I am Chad Chipotle, member of Wookiepedia Discussions. I am here because there is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. This past week, our moderation team has had to ban two users, one of which has a total of seven sockpuppets as of 10 hours ago. This new serial sockpuppeter has not received any punishment. We need someone with ban rights that is more involved with what is happening. One of these users was brought to your attention quickly, mostly because he pinged an administrator named Cavalier One, however this first troublemaker is nothing compared to the one we are dealing with now.

I've read your profile, and the very first thing it says about the "Wookie" is that you believe the greatest concern should be community. I also know you dislike the politics that plague this system. So I have a proposition that will strengthen the community while keeping the political maneuvering to a minimum.

Option 1: One of our moderators (Givinname, Joupena, or Jedi Sarith LeKit) should be granted the ability to ban users.

Option 2: A trusted member of the community, who is chosen by the mods (with staff approval if necessary), is given the ability to approve bans that are requested by moderators. This would ensure that no unwarranted bans are issued, while also making sure that when a ban is needed it can be issued as quickly as possible.

I know that there is a great staff team working to support us. I also know that sometimes mistakes happen or requests get overlooked. This new system is necessary to make sure that the Wookie stays a safe place for all sorts of people.

I look forward to hearing from you, either in a reply to this message or in a DM on Discord (linked in my bio).

Improper edits

Hey there. When you have a minute, you may want to look over this user's contributions. I reverted most of the user's edits for linking to pages in the wrong continuities & for changing names on the basis of preference alone, but the user has reverted most of my reversions as well as those of previous editors. Rather than risk an edit war, I will leave this matter to you. Cheers! SeboltoTalk 11:06, April 24, 2020 (UTC)

Also worth mentioning that this user appears to be a sockpuppet of the individual mentioned above, as both similarly named accounts appear to be editing the same pages simply for the purposes of adjusting "Palpatine" to "Sidious." SeboltoTalk 14:51, April 24, 2020 (UTC)

Liberator Cruiser

Regarding the Liberator Cruiser, it's weapons load-out, and page revisions. If you wish to avoid future reversion wars over the weapons load-out, i would suggest you visit Liberator cruiser's talk page and chime in yourself on the issue of armament and read the sources, facts, and analysis there. Evidence has been shown that the ship does not carry 440 weapons, and most of the changes to the page over the last several years have been an effort to correct the page in light of that information. While the page has been classed as a Good Article in the past, that does not prevent it from including incorrect information, and in such a case the incorrect information needs to be corrected. Batch Delete of Unused Images, October 29, 2018

I recently noticed that one of the images depicting an early concept image of the Harrower-class dreadnought used during Timeline 1: Treaty of Coruscant had been deleted in this batch delete test, and I was wondering if there was a log or something of the images that had been deleted and if it might be possible to retrieve them. The image in question may have been unused at the time, but it still has a place in the wiki in the articles for The Sacking of Coruscant and the Harrower-class, and if this is true for one image it may have been true for others. Thankfully, I can recover it from the Spanish version of the wiki, but we might not be as lucky with the rest of the images as we were with that one.--Valiran (talk) 23:21, May 9, 2020 (UTC)

  • I realize I'm responding to this message a bit late, so this may have been resolved already, but I'm not really sure what you're referring to exactly. If there's a deleted image you would like restored, we can do that for you if you can show me which deleted file it is. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:56, May 16, 2020 (UTC)
    • It's okay. I get to things late, too. What I was asking is if it's possible to go through everything that was in that batch delete and see if any of the images there were worth keeping, like the image I linked and subsequently reuploaded.--Valiran (talk) 07:04, May 23, 2020 (UTC)
      • What you're asking for isn't really feasible. It's not possible to view deleted images without restoring them one by one (and then re-deleting them if you're not interested in them), which is an incredibly time-consuming process when you're talking about a great many images that were deleted in a batch. That's not really worth anyone's time. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 01:51, May 25, 2020 (UTC)
        • I understand. Thank you for your answer and explanation, I appreciate it.--Valiran (talk) 21:57, May 25, 2020 (UTC)

NPOV discussion

Hey there. I just wanted to make the administrative team aware of this ongoing discussion. As the author of the article in question, I went to great lengths to ensure that my rewrite took into account all sources in which the event appeared/was mentioned for the purposes of ensuring NPOV. I even drafted a Senate Hall post prior to publication to solicit the community's input on my rewrite & clearly state my reasoning behind the need for a rewrite. However, this particular user appears to be implying that the article is not written from a neutral point of view despite the sheer amount of <ref /> citations I included in the article referencing corroborating source materials. I don't know if there is a TOR expert on the administrative team, but if there is, he or she might wish to intervene in the discussion & adjudicate accordingly if things get out of hand. Thanks. SeboltoTalk 11:11, May 11, 2020 (UTC)

  • This is a pretty in-depth matter, so a quick response from me like this on my talk page probably isn't going to sufficiently answer everything you need to know. But the first thing I would say is that you don't seem to have a correct understanding of what the Neutral point of view (NPOV) policy is really all about. The existence of referencing or lack thereof has little to do with whether something violates NPOV or not. NPOV has to do with whether something is worded or described in a neutral manner. For example, calling the Rebel Alliance the "morally superior good guys" would be an example of something that violates NPOV. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:00, May 16, 2020 (UTC)

Excuse the interruption, my friend, but I was wondering if I could put the event appearances in chronological order in the appearance box on Star Wars media articles, like a Clone Wars episode or a novel like Catalyst? Clone Troopers

Hey, I noticed your edit reversion to Wooley. While it's true that the clone troopers had various modifications to their faces, it still never changed the natural color of their hair, eyes and skin. Wolffe may have a silver prosthetic right eye, but his left eye was still brown. Rex may have bleached his hair blonde, and it later became white when he grew old, but his eyebrows still retained their natural black color. This is why I wrote naturally, next to hair color.

And whatever modifications made to their faces, their skin color would still remain the same.Scout1534 (talk) 14:28, June 30, 2020 (UTC)

  • For our purposes, that really doesn't matter. We don't document clone data that way unless someone is explicitly shown to have, for example, one hair color that he later dyed to another. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 14:30, June 30, 2020 (UTC)
    • But what about skin color? It's much more difficult to change that than your hair or eyes. In fact, I don't think it's possible. Scout1534 (talk) 14:33, June 30, 2020 (UTC)

Hello T&R,

I saw your message and I understand, I will only modify the source fields of whatever I have posted so far. I won't be uploading anything new until I have at the least given a source to each one of them (So I hope they won't be removed in a couple of days). I have only two questions, the first one is what the policy is on personal scans and collections? Say for example, there is no hi-def image online, so I need to scan them from my personal collection, do I just provide the Publishers' product page anyways? (though the image on there is of a lower standard) or is not being displayed anymore (I can use a WaybackMachine for that, but older images are rarely above the 648x1000 px count). And finally, if it was a limited edition of a product that has never gotten any official online page devoted to it (like the Special Gold Foil editions for "Tales of the Jedi", which I haven't posted yet because of this problem) how do I source it then? Because the only alternative would be Amazon, but if it isn't on there what then? (what other sources are "valid"?).

MurfelDurvel (talk) 18:36, July 5, 2020 (UTC)

It is going to take some time to change the sources of every single file, as long as someone doesn't delete them, there should be no problem, but thanks for the heads up, and if you have anything else to ask me, do so, as I'm quite new to this place, and I want to provide the people both visiting and those part of this site with articles of a high standard.

Which to me means mostly, that image better be over a 1000 pixels i guess ;)

I bytheway don't know how to put my message in the right section of someone's talking page, so if it's automatically placed somewhere where it isn't supposed to be, I would like to know.

  • I reverted your edits because I felt they were particularly low quality in terms of language and formatting. Here, for example, we prefer to spell out single-digit numbers such as "4" and "3" in formal writing, and referring to the character as "questionable" pretty much goes against our Neutral point of view policy. But you're welcome to make revisions. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:52, July 18, 2020 (UTC)

re: Links

(reply from User talk:Sweetkid01#Links)

It just seemed like the articles were heavily clogged by superfluous links. My edits were based mostly off of Wikipedia:OVERLINK (e.g. general presumption that readers would not need links to/from "he", "death", "days", e.t.c.); it seems that a lot of Wookieepedia articles are plagued by overlinkage and "easter egg links".

The Wookieepedia manual of style doesn't seem to say much about what links do and do not belong though; it says subjects should be linked once upon its first mention in the infobox, intro and body, but it's unclear how the rules apply to piped links, and it doesn't explicitly state anything about duplicate links (one of the links I removed was a duplicate link). Could you please clarify why the links should be kept? {{Sweetkid01|Talk|Contributions}} 18:13, August 24, 2020 (UTC)

  • In real-world or out-of-universe (OOU) articles such as this, the "Bibliography" section works the same way as the "Sources" section does in in-universe articles. So any officially licensed Star Wars source that mentions the OOU subject's name, whether that subject is a person or company or whatever else, gets listed in the Bibliography. In this case, all you need to do is list that Star Wars Origami book in a Bibliography section and you're done. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 21:44, October 5, 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I've just stumble upon your article Star Wars: I Want to Be a Jedi (2017). Seeing that there is no picture of the cover or anything else, I tried searching for one. But strangely, I couldn't find any proof wherever I searched in whichever databank I used that this book even exists. Do you have an idea why that is the case? CanePlayz (talk) 15:33, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

  • Hello. I believe no formal record of the book exists online because it was a retailer-exclusive item here in the United States (meaning it was specially sold only at one store), which occasionally happens with some books. So if that retailer didn't put a record of the book on their website, then you might never know it ever existed. Krayt dragon

Hello. I was wondering if I could get your opinion on an issue on the krayt dragon article. A user is adding lots of very large pictures to the articles that don't really need to be there, and are more distracting that supplementary due to how little text there actually is on the article. An example of this is the difference between this revision with the added pictures, and this revision without them. Christhewalrus (talk) 00:14, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

        • The said user is continuing to add the picture back to the article. Also, do you think that the infobox picture should be the greater krayt dragon form The Mandalorian, or the picture of the canyon krayt dragon? Christhewalrus (talk) 01:54, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
          • I have issued the user an appropriate warning. As for image content, I have no opinion on the matter. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 02:13, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
            • Yeah, I guess they do have a point that if the canyon krayt is more common, they are more representative of the species. But aside from the infobox picture, could I remove the extra pctures they added to the article? Christhewalrus (talk) 02:22, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

Question about a potential series

According to this news, and [https://deadline.com/2020/11/the-mandalorian-katee-sackhoff-bo-katan-spoilers-boba-fett-darksaber-spinoff-series-disney-1234618021/ this news source, a potential spinoff could be in the works. Is it ok to add an article about it? So far, I had created a draft about it just now. StarLightNova 22:47, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

  • Hello. Since these news articles appear to be reporting on a potential series and nothing is being explicitly confirmed by Lucasfilm at this point, we do not allow articles to be created in this scenario. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 22:52, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

R-20 Scatterblaster

Hi Toprawa! We seem to be butting heads - albeit unintentionally - over the R-20 Scatterblaster article. I'd like to discuss, civilly, our differences in opinion ^_^.

For reference, the exact quote from Abyss Chapter 20 states...

"The other, a tall masculine figure in blue armor, was using one hand to lead the blond by the arm and the other to hold a BlasTech R-20 scatterblaster. With an instinct worthy of a Jedi, he raised the scatterblaster the instant he cleared the door and sent a couple of quick volleys howling toward the tops of the stairs. Unable to deflect so many tiny bolts at once, Leia dropped behind the bridge's side panels and, cringing as the fiery hail ricocheted off the durasteel, reached for her hold-out blaster."

My points are as follows: 1) "Scatterblaster" is a classification of blaster that, by definition, encompasses energy shotguns. With the word "scatterblaster" in the name, it automatically belongs to this class of weaponry. We wouldn't say a DL-44 Heavy blaster pistol isn't a heavy blaster pistol - I would suggest we don't say a scatterblaster isn't a scatterblaster. 2) the R-20 is shown to fire a spray of tiny bolts as a volley. By very definition, a volley is "a number of bullets, arrows, or other projectiles discharged at one time.", combined with the word "hail", it paints a clear picture to me that the R-20 fires a spray of tiny bolts - a kind of repeating hand shotgun.

If you disagree, I'm quite open to discussion! I love all things Star Wars, and I am aware of the huge mess that the scatter gun, scattergun, and scatterblaster articles are in at the moment; I know that the definition of the weapon is something a matter of debate.

  • Hello. I'm sorry to have reverted your edit without an explanation, but there were too many reasons to properly explain in the limited edit summary field. Would you be able to try and join our Discord server? It'd be easier to discuss this there, which I'd be happy to do. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 00:34, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Our Star Wars Stories

Hi Toprawa and Ralltiir,

My apologies for creating the Our Star Wars Stories article. I didn't check the policy about fandom-related material. No hard feelings, I understand that it was my mistake and I can learn from it. Will see if I can publish it somewhere else like the Star Wars Fanon Wiki. Thanks and may the Force be with you. Andykatib 01:37, December 10, 2020 (UTC)

Deceased characters category

Right now, if you looked at a page of a character that is deceased on a category page and etc., you wouldn't be able to tell that they're dead/deceased and you would have to go on there page to know that they're in fact dead, but what if there was a category for deceased characters? Users would know ahead of time which would save time and could be more efficient in some ways that way. There are many deceased characters in both the canon and Legends universe, and we can hardly find all of them, but a category would group them all together and store them there for the users' benefit. It doesn't have to be called the 'Deceased characters' category. It could be called 'Deceased' or 'Deceased individuals category. Andrewh7 (talk) 04:23, 24 December 2020 (UTC) Andrewh7

Unidentified character pages

There are a ton of unidentified characters who still don't have a page on here that could possibly need one such as the Nightbrothers in Jedi Fallen Order, the other unidentified Padawans of Mavra Zane in Kinect Star Wars, media projects and etc. Should these unidentified characters have pages created for them or be left alone? First Blade and Barsen’thor’s lightsaber

I noticed that there was a page for the First Blade and the Consular’s lightsaber is used as the image, but only the hilt is from the First Blade not the entire lightsaber. Shouldn’t the Barsen’thor have their own lightsaber page?

Mara Jade Skywalker aliases

Hello. Can you help me? The users asks about this deleted category: Category:Mara Jade Skywalker aliases. He wrote: "This loss is proving to be a direct problem for the body of fans who relied on the page for reference when composing fanworks". So did you move articles from this page to another category or just remove all info which was associated with this category? Thanks. Kuzura;Talk 09:03, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

    • it was a post titled Is Boba FEtt a Mandalorian, and it talked about boba, grogu, and foundlings, less than a minute after I posted it, it disappeared. Reverted changes to Template:Sote

I noticed that you reverted changes to the page Template:Sote. My goal was simply to make the navbox less confusing to look at by separating the collected editions and trade paperbacks from the issues. I think this is a clearer way to organize the Navbox and it matches the style used by many other navboxes. Do you have a reason for reverting the changes? Unsigned comment by Lwinfdswer (talk • contribs).

I have an improved Felucia picture, but lack the ability to upload it.

Hello mr. Toprawa (or Ralltir?), I was browsing the Wookieepedia and saw the current Felucia picture. I remember seeing a much higher definition picture of that planet in Battlefront 2, So I edited an in-game screenshot down to just a basic planet-view of Felucia so that I would be able to update the picture on the wiki. I have kind of hit a wall though, as I do not have enough edits on Wookieepedia to upload a file, and so I ask if it would be possible for you to upload and update the Felucia picture for me.

I will attach a link in case you are willing to help me out: https://imgur.com/gallery/5GqAHA0 Rolexo 03:20, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Canon vs. Legends pages

Do you know where I can find the Canon vs. Legends policy page is? I can't seem to figure out why there are Canon pages that only appeared in canon things have Legends pages too and pages that should say Canon says Legends instead, and remembered the policy page another admin sent me, but don't know where to find it/can't find it. Glyn Baker Interview

Hello! I know this is a bit random, but I thought I'd help out with my very bizarre knowledge base. So you have a copy of that interview with Glyn Baker wherein you mention that it's the only linkable source that confirms his role as the esteemed Endicott in Return of the Jedi. However, I wanted to mention that there are autograph cards signed by Mr. Baker and released as official Star Wars merchandise that confirm his role as well: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Rogue-One-Mission-Briefing-Glyn-Baker-Autograph-A-GB/124507374455?hash=item1cfd37c377:g:19MAAOSwoKBf5A8f. Hope this helps. Also, I downloaded a copy of that interview in case (as you said in the description of that page) it is deleted or otherwise lost. StrangeStatue (talk) 06:15, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Trans rights/ Deadnames

Hey, so, please stop reverting the change on my Wookieepedia page for Robin Pronovost. I am Robin. Per GLAAD:

Always use a transgender person's chosen name.

Many transgender people are able to obtain a legal name change from a court. However, some transgender people cannot afford a legal name change or are not yet old enough to legally change their name. They should be afforded the same respect for their chosen name as anyone else who uses a name other than their birth name (e.g., celebrities).

I have a legal name change.

I do not wish to be referred to as 'Formerly known as anything'

The archived link belopw is the only compromise I am willing to offer, but this is a safety issue for me.

Black Two

Hello, for the sake of consistency with The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, other squadron call signs, and their canon counterparts, I am attempting to move the pages Black 2, Black 3, Black 4, and Black 11 to Black Two/Legends, Black Three/Legends, Black Four/Legends, and Black Eleven/Legends (discussion here). However, moving pages to a location with a /Legends suffix is disallowed as harmful, with a note to contact an administrator if you do not believe it to be so. Would you or another administrator be able to help me with this? Thanks, RogueWhistler (talk) 20:58, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

  • Based on the reasoning you cite here (for reasons I won't get delve into for the sake of this response), I can't actually endorse these pages moves in the interest of accuracy. Regardless, you should request any such changes on Wookieepedia:Bot requests. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 16:44, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
