Utapau Surrenders was a painting[2] created after 104 ABY[1] that depicted the capitulation[2] of the Outer Rim Territories planet Utapau to General Grievous—Supreme Commander of the Droid Army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems—during the Clone Wars between the Confederacy and the Galactic Republic.[3] The painting was set inside one of Utapau's sinkholes, and its foreground depicted a red-robed Pau'an individual kneeling before Grievous and presenting him with a staff, with three additional similarly dressed figures standing a short distance behind. Also occupying the foreground was a humanoid individual ensnared in a leash held by one of Grievous's four arms. In the background stood hundreds more robed figures below a group of vulture droids flying out from the lowest of three descending core ships.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Utapau Surrenders appeared in "Celestia Galactica Photografica," a collection of in-universe illustrations by Ryan Church included in Star Wars: Visionaries, a 2005 graphic novel edited by Jeremy Barlow. The image was also featured on the graphic novel's back cover.[2]

Notes and references[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 "Celestia Galactica Photografica" was included in Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: Legacy Vol. 4, which describes the stories it contains as taking place more than a century after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. That film took place in 4 ABY according to The Essential Atlas, meaning that all paintings in "Celestia Galactica Photografica," including Utapau Surrenders, must have been created after 104 ABY.
