The V-4 series was a line of ski speeders produced by the Verpine vehicle manufacturer Roche Machines in response to a fad for asteroid slalom during the reign of the Galactic Empire. They had ventral mono-skis to keep them anchored and boom-mounted holocameras to record maneuvers made by the pilot.[1]
Production of the line ceased and the remaining units were sold at a reduced price after the asteroid slalom craze ended following the live broadcast of several slalom racers and their vehicles being devoured at the Orleon Belt Grand Slalom Finals. Models in the series included the V-4X-D ski speeder, which would be used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Resistance.[1]
