The Vaathkree Trade Corridor was a hyperspace route that ran between the celestial body Corsin on the Hydian Way and the astronomical object Gizer on the Perlemian Trade Route. It passed through the Expansion Region, Inner Rim Territories, Mid Rim Territories, and New Territories. Galactic Republic scout ships traveled up the route before discovering the Ubdurian trade empire.

Description[]

The Vaathkree Trade Corridor was a hyperspace route that shared its name[2] with the Outer Rim Territories astronomical object Vaathkree.[5] One terminus of the route was the Expansion Region celestial body Corsin on the Hydian Way.[5] The trade route ran from Corsin to[1] the Ubdurian homeworld[8] Ubduria in the Inner Rim Territories, which in turn linked to Obroa-skai,[1] a planet in the Inner Rim's Obroa-skai system.[6] Both these locations also fell within the New Territories region of the galaxy.[3]

From there, the route passed through the Expansion Region again and then over the border into the Mid Rim Territories, where it passed through the celestial body Contruum and Montross, a planet located in the Montross system,[7] before terminating at Gizer, an astronomical object on the Perlemian Trade Route.[1] The planet Telerath in the Nouane sector's Telerath system also fell somewhere along the Inner Rim portion of the route.[4] The Vaathkree Trade Corridor fell within squares M-7, N-7, N-8, O-8, and P-8 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1]

History[]

Scout ships from the Galactic Republic traveled along the Vaathkree Trade Corridor before discovering the territory of the Ubdurians' trade empire.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The Vaathkree Trade Corridor originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity.

In the current Star Wars canon, the Vaathkree Trade Corridor was first pictured in "The History of Neimoidia," an article in the "Guide to the Galaxy" department of the fifty-second issue of the Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine,[9] published around December 30, 2015.[10] The route was first identified in Star Wars: Aliens of the Galaxy, a 2016 reference book written by Jason Fry.[2]

The Vaathkree Trade Corridor originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in "Heroes Need Not Apply," an article written by Anthony P. Russo and Eric S. Trautmann and published by West End Games in the twelfth issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal series in February, 1997.[11] It was then depicted for the first time in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace.[12]

Same galaxy, same map. In the rare event something needs to be changed, it will be discussed. (In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).
