- "If you are here to help I'm glad to see you. If not you are in the wrong place."
- ―Lieutenant Varias, to a spacer
Varias was a Human male CorSec officer who lived on Corellia during the time of the Galactic Civil War.
Biography[]
By the time following the Battle of Yavin, Varias held the rank of lieutenant of the Corellian Security Force and was based in the city of Coronet on Corellia.[1]
In 1 ABY,[2] the CorSec received reports of hostile Clone Wars-era battle droids active in the Bindreg Hills. A group led by Lieutenant Varias, including Officers Savas, Hirka, Kener, Mener and several CorSec troopers, was dispatched from Coronet to investigate. The unit discovered an old and fully automated droid factory, presumably built in secret by the Separatists during the Clone Wars.[1] The CorSec ignored that the factory had been reactivated by IG-88 for his project of Droid Revolution.[3] The droid factory was defended by many battle droids but the Corellian government was reluctant to send reinforcement since it would like to avoid drawing the attention of the Galactic Empire.[1]

Lieutenant Varias assigned missions to all his officers with the objective to disable the droid factory.[1] Agent Savas was tasked to recruit independent spacers to assist the CorSec in the factory,[4] Sergeant Hirka was ordered to recon the factory,[5] technical officer Kener had to find a way to shut down the facility,[6] and Sergeant Mener was tasked to take the fight to the droids.[7] When Sergeant Hirka and her squad went missing, Lieutenant Varias dispatched a spacer to rescue her.[5] The spacer then worked with Officer Kener to create a security breach in the factory's control system.[6] Eventually, Varias tasked the spacer to access the control override terminal in the depths of the facility. The spacer finally reached the terminal in the command center and effectively shut down the factory. According to Lieutenant Varias, the intervention of the spacers permitted to contain the crisis and avoid a disaster.[3]
Varias later asked a spacer to assist an associate, Wernell Covington, on the moon Rori.[3]
Behind the scenes[]

Star Wars Galaxies (post-NGE) — Legacy Quest: "Talk to Lieutenant Varias in the Corsec camp" on Corellia
- ↑ The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
