"We are always having our challenges, but we will prevail. Of that, I have no doubt."
―Captain Quellium, to a spacer[2]

Vayde Quellium was a male Bothan who served in the Alliance to Restore the Republic on Talus during the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"There is an organization of mercenaries here on Talus that is giving me fits. They are called the Nightstrike Soldier Hegemony. Recently, they confiscated a shipment of medical supplies that would go a long way in helping the Alliance's efforts here."
―Captain Quellium, to a spacer[1]

Vayde Quellium was a Rebel Alliance officer during the Galactic Civil War between the Rebellion and the Galactic Empire. After the Battle of Yavin, the young Bothan had achieved the rank of captain and was stationed in the city of Dearic on Talus.[1] His office was located in the building of the Wideband Temp Agency, a front company for Rebel recruiters.[3]

By the time following the Battle of Yavin, Captain Quellium was working with Trezya Nenei, a representative of the Aggregate Civil Liberties Organization, an anti-Imperial organization on Talus.[1] In 1 ABY,[4] the A.C.L.O. was seeking to join the Rebel Alliance on a permanent basis. In the meanwhile, both the A.C.L.O. and the Rebels were in conflict with the Nightstrike Soldier Hegemony, a Talusian mercenary organization affiliated with the Empire. At some point, N.S.H. troops shut down an A.C.L.O. clinic and imprisoned the Wookiee medical officer Syirlabradawk. They also confiscated a shipment of medical supplies which were intended for the Alliance forces on Talus. Captain Quellium and Trezya Nenei therefore sent a spacer to raid the N.S.H. base.[1] The spacer was recommended by CorSec officer Dathnaeya Loessin who wanted to determine what kind of people the Rebellion and the Empire had chosen to work with.[3] The spacer assaulted the N.S.H. base and eventually managed to retrieve the medical shipment and rescue the medical officer, killing many N.S.H. enforcers in the process.[1][5] Vayde Quellium was very grateful and tried to recruit the spacer in the Rebellion.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Vayde Quellium appeared as a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[6] Vayde Quellium was added to the game as part of the "Crisis of Allegiance" arc with the release of "Chapter 2: The Talus Incident," on August 1, 2006.[7]

  4. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
