- "For instance, durin' Solstice Tide, folks on Coruscant used to transport vecari trees all the way from Seylott, coverin' 'em with glow-globes and linin' 'em up and down Republic Avenue."
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook
Vecari trees were a type of tree native to the forests of[1] the planet[3] Seylott. Crystalline needles were a key attribute of the trees.[1] Until at least the High Republic Era, the Coruscanti people celebrated the Solstice Tide festival by transporting vecari trees to the planet Coruscant, decorating them with glow-globes and lining them across Republic Avenue, a street located in the planet's Galactic City.[4]
Around 232 BBY,[5] in the Commercial District of Coruscant, Jedi Master Stellan Gios leapt onto a vecari tree, sending its crystalline needles down onto the pedestrians below, who were amazed by the display.[1] In The Life Day Cookbook, published after The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook's release[2] in 34 ABY[6] by the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs, the chef mentioned that the Coruscanti tradition surrounding vecari trees was no longer in practice.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Vecari trees appeared in "A Coruscant Solstice," a short story by George Mann and Cavan Scott. The story was published in the 2021 anthology the Life Day Treasury.[1]
