Vedij was Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic during the 3017 BBY Seventeenth and final Alsakan Conflict between the Republic's capital world Coruscant, the planet Alsakan, and their respective allies. During the Conflict, the Republic Navy under Vedij had a greater industrial base that allowed the Republic to build a fleet of Invincible-class fast battleships for use in the Conflict to overwelm the fleets of Alsakan[1] and the planet[2] Corulag. Despite the fleet of Invincible-class ships, the Seventeenth Conflict[1] ended in a victory for the planet Corellia,[3] whose own fleet of long-range frigates, which had been produced in response to the fighting between Coruscant and Alsakan, outfought the Republic's forces.[1]
