Venisa's helmet was a flight helmet owned by Resistance Commander Venisa Doza. The helmet featured her surname written in Domabesh, the Rebel Alliance starbird, and other faded decals. She wore the helmet in 34 ABY while flying her X-wing while attempting to rendezvous with her family on the Colossus refueling platform, breaking through the First Order's Blockade of Dantooine, and defending the Colossus from the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Thunderer in the Battle of Barabesh.

Venisa Doza's helmet featured her surname in Domabesh.

Venisa's helmet was a personalized flight helmet owned by[1] Resistance Commander[2] Venisa Doza. The helmet featured a retractable yellow polarized visor, a small light that could illuminate yellow on the right side and two on the left, extensions on either side that reached toward the chin with a chinstrap between them, and a headset comlink on the right extension. It had a dull white base with gray features. An orange Rebel Alliance starbird decal lay above the visor with two blue lines on either side. On the other side of the right blue line was Doza's surname in red—written in Domabesh script. On the left side of the helmet were four victory decals, with gray circles and an orange "V." On both extensions were gray circles with multiple lines striking through them. A gray marking lay on the back of the helmet. All the markings on the helmet were faded and scuffed.[1]

History[]

Venisa Doza leaned on her helmet while she spoke to Jarek Yeager.

In 34 ABY,[3] Venisa Doza wore her helmet while flying her T-70 X-wing—alongside the astromech droid Torch—to rendezvous with her family aboard the Colossus refueling platform in realspace. Doza arrived after her family fled the area following a skirmish with the First Order, who proceeded to capture her X-wing starfighter in the tractor beam of[4] the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Thunderer.[5] After her starfighter landed in the Star Destroyer's hangar Bay 2, Doza removed her helmet, lay it atop the cockpit's console, and surrendered herself to the First Order. Later, after Doza escaped First Order custody and Torch caused a distraction in Bay 2, the Resistance pilot sneaked into her X-wing, donned her helmet, and fled the Thunderer.[4]

Later that year,[6] Doza wore her helmet again while visiting the Colossus aboard her X-wing. After landing in one of the station's hangars, Doza rested her helmet atop her console again and leaned on it while conversing with[2] her old friend[4] Jarek Yeager. She left her helmet in the cockpit while discussing a mission with the Colossus's Ace Squadron, the station's main line of defense, to escort Resistance recruits past a First Order blockade of the planet Dantooine. Venisa's daughter, Torra Doza, returned the helmet to her mother as Venisa moved toward her X-wing in preparation for takeoff. She slipped on the helmet before departing the Colossus to participate in the mission.[2] Sometime later, after the First Order learned that the Colossus was in the Barabesh system, Doza once again donned her helmet after the citizens of the Colossus agreed to fight the First Order instead of running again and participated in the ensuing battle within her X-wing.[7]

Behind the scenes[]

"Venisa, along with Torch and her X-wing, were designed to look like she's been using the same equipment since the Return of the Jedi era, as she was a fighter pilot at a young age."

Venisa's helmet first appeared in "Rendezvous Point,"[4] the eighth episode of the second season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance, which aired on November 24, 2019.[8] The helmet was first shown in the preview for "Rendezvous Point," which was posted to the Star Wars YouTube channel four days before the episode released.[9] It was identified as "Venisa's helmet" simultaneously in the episode's Bucket's List[10] as well as the accompanying "Bucket's List Extra."[1] The article and video were posted the day after "Rendezvous Point."[1][10] The series' art director,[11] Amy Beth Christenson, created the concept art for Venisa Doza, which featured her helmet, on March 9, 2018. Christenson commented that Doza's equipment was designed to look vintage. Though the helmet's model was rigged to raise the visor,[1] it was never retracted in any of the helmet's three episodes.[2][4][7]
