The Vice Chair,[1] also known as the Vice Chancellor,[2] served as the speaker of the Galactic Senate of the Republic. In addition to presiding over the Senate and maintaining order among its members, the Vice Chair worked closely with the Supreme Chancellor to set the agenda of the Senate and call for votes on pieces of legislation. Mas Amedda served as Vice Chair under the chancellorship of both Finis Valorum and Sheev Palpatine.[1]
