A pair of Imperial officers in front of a viewport on the Executor
A viewport, also known as a window[1] or porthole,[2] was a framework that contained a pane of transparent material and was built into a wall to admit light. Starships and space stations were commonly equipped with viewports, as were ground-based structures.[1]
The main component of both viewscreens and portholes aboard starships was the alloy transparisteel, which were made of the mineral lommite, the primary export of the planet Eriadu.[2]
