Vol Garat was a Harch bounty hunter who was a member of the Jedi-hating Path of the Open Hand cult. He fought for the Path in the Night of Sorrow, a battle against the Jedi on the planet Dalna. Having seen the effects that the Nameless creatures had on the Jedi in the battle, he wished to control them so that he could have the power to destroy all Jedi. Because of this, he searched for Jedi Knight Azlin Rell, who had created a journal about the Nameless after encountering them and being driven to madness by them during the Night of Sorrow. However, Garat was defeated by Rell and his friend and fellow Jedi Arkoff, who hid away Rell's journal.[2]
150 years later, after the Destruction of Starlight Beacon, Garat was hired by Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro to locate Rell's journal. He found the journal on Banchii, but was found and killed by Arkoff before he could bring it to Ro.[2]
