"The Vray are a gentle species. Without an escort, the evacuation convoy will be defenseless against the Yuuzhan Vong."
―Leia Organa Solo[src]

The Vray were a gentle sentient species whose homeworld was invaded by the Yuuzhan Vong during the Yuuzhan Vong War, a war against the alien Yuuzhan Vong who had invaded from another galaxy. In 27 ABY, Han and Leia Solo traveled to the Bilbringi Shipyards to request that its commander, General Muun, provide them with ships to form an escort to protect the evacuation convoy of at least a hundred thousand Vray. Muun refused at first, unwilling to leave the shipyard possibly vulnerable to a Yuuzhan Vong attack. However, when Yuuzhang Vong Warmaster Tsavong Lah threatened to kill many refugees if the Jedi of the galaxy did not surrender to the Yuuzhan Vong, Muun saw protecting the Vray refugees as an opportunity to improve his popularity and status. Muun therefore led a convoy of ten vessels to escort the Vray to safety.[1]

Behind the scenes

The first and only mention of the Vray was by Troy Denning in Star by Star, his novel published October 30, 2001 as an installment of The New Jedi Order series.
