In 0 BBY, the Jawa's stopped their sandcrawler stopped at the Lars Homestead on the planet Tatooine in order to sell droids to the Lars family, but the moisture farmer Owen Lars had no interest in purchasing WED-15-ST68. After leaving the homestead, the Jawa sandcrawler was attacked by Imperial stormtroopers who destroyed WED-15-ST68.
Biography[]
WED-15-ST68[6] was a WED-15 Septoid Treadwell manufactured by Cybot Galactica.[2] By 0 BBY,[1] WED-15-ST68 was ancient[2] and was one of 1,500 droids[6] that a tribe of Jawa scavengers led by the chieftain Nebit[7] kept in their sandcrawler on the planet Tatooine. While owned by the Jawas, it was likely that WED-15-ST68 was enhanced by the scavengers, possibly through augmentation of its original manipulator arms with others that the Jawas had lying about.[4]
In 0 BBY,[1] the sandcrawler stopped at the Lars Homestead in the Jundland Wastes of Tatooine so that the Jawas could present droids to the Lars family for sale. Hoping to finally get rid of WED-15-ST68,[2] the Jawas included it in a line up of droids for the family to browse, with a pair of Jawas escorting the WED Treadwell repair droid down the sandcrawler's ramp.[8] However, moisture farmer Owen Lars showed no interest in WED-15-ST68[2] and instantly dismissed it,[5] as the family already owned the WED-15-XT Treadwell droid WED-15-77 who had a smaller base that gave it more maneuverability and allowed it to move in closer to machinery for delicate work with smaller more delicate arms.[2]
After the moisture farmers ultimately chose to purchase the droids C-3PO and R2-D2, several Jawas crowded around WED-15-ST68[5] before it and the other droids were moved back into the sandcrawler.[4] Nebit's tribe was latter attacked by Imperial stormtroopers who were searching for the two droids that had been sold.[5] The troopers killed the Jawas on board the sandcrawler and destroyed WED-15-ST68,[4] leaving the damaged sandcrawler and its slaughtered occupants abandoned in the desert.[5]
Characteristics[]
Standing one meter in height,[3] WED-15-ST68 was equipped with seven[5] multiple jointed arms that made it look like a giant spider.[9] The repair droid had black, multi-range photoreceptors and was also equipped with a communications antenna, which connected to a bracket on the droid's base near its logic housing. WED-15-ST68 was primarily white in color but had two raised orange areas on its base.[4]
