"We have been asked to provide an escort for a client transporting something valuable through the city. I will provide you with a waypoint to the client's courier; you are to make sure that he reaches the star port without any problems."
Peawp R'dawc, to a spacer[1]

Walter Orvett was a male Rodian courier who lived on Tatooine during the Galactic Civil War. In 1 ABY,[2] the boss of Walter Orvett hired the services of the R'dawc Bodyguard Agency to protect the Rodian courier during a delivery in Mos Eisley. A spacer working for Peawp R'dawc was therefore tasked to meet Orvett in the city and protect him at all costs. The spacer escorted Walter Orvett to the starport and effectively defended him during subsequent attacks.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Walter Orvett was a non-player character appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Walter Orvett was added to the game with the release of the "Publish 17", on May 26, 2005.[4] He was involved in the quests given by Peawp R'dawc to beginner players who had chosen a "brawler" career.[1] The "brawler" profession was later removed from the game upon the release of the "Publish 25", a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[4] Peawp R'dawc's questline was widely revamped and Walter Orvett was removed from these quests.[5]

  2. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
