- "I can't shake these two droids!"
- ―Warthog calls for assistance during a dogfight
Warthog was a clone trooper pilot who served in the 104th Battalion under Jedi Master Plo Koon during the Clone Wars. Throughout the war, Warthog took part in many conflicts and was a veteran pilot. During the First Battle of Felucia in 21 BBY, he flew a V-19 Torrent starfighter during a mission to extract Republic ground forces. At the Battle of Kadavo, Warthog piloted a Z-95 Headhunter during another extraction mission, this time aimed at freeing Republic personnel as well as the enslaved people of the planet Kiros. Warthog was also able to fly a LAAT gunship, operating one when Republic forces were deployed on a humanitarian mission to the planet Aleen in 20 BBY.
Biography[]
Early action[]
- "Warthog, protect the gunships. I will take out the fighters."
- ―Plo Koon, to Warthog
Warthog[1] was born on the planet Kamino as a clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett. He and his brothers were bred for service in the Galactic Republic's Grand Army.[4] He became a clone trooper pilot in the Republic Navy. During the Clone Wars against the Separatists, Warthog served under Jedi General Plo Koon and Clone Commander Wolffe in the 104th Battalion. During the First Battle of Felucia[5] in 21 BBY,[6] Warthog flew a V-19 Torrent starfighter alongside General Koon to evacuate Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, and their troops, who were being surrounded. As they approached the Separatist fleet that had amassed over the planet, Koon ordered Warthog to protect the Republic gunships while he took on the enemy vulture droids. Passing the fleet, Warthog was one of three pilots to escort the gunships that landed to rescue the Republic forces on the ground. During the dogfighting, Warthog picked up two vulture droids on his tail. Unable to shake the enemy starfighters, he called for help, and was quickly assisted by Koon, who eliminated both pursuers. Thanking the General, Warthog continued the mission, which was eventually successful in evacuating the Republic personnel.[5]
Aleen to Kadavo[]
- "Wolf Leader to Wolf Pack, accelerate to attack speed."
"This is Warthog, we're going in." - ―Plo Koon and Warthog during the Battle of Kadavo
In 20 BBY,[8] Warthog was part of the Wolfpack when they traveled to the plant Aleen on a humanitarian mission to aid the Aleena, whose planet was devastated by groundquakes. Flying a gunship, Warthog was surprised to see an Aleena riding a flying can-cell wave to him and shout excitedly before swooping away. Warthog muttered that it was "going to be another one of those planets" before following the Aleena and landing in the town, where members of the Wolfpack unloaded supplies.[9]
Following the Confederacy's abduction and enslavement of Togruta colonists from the planet Kiros[10] later that year,[11] the Zygerrian Slave Empire forced the citizens to labor in a slave processing facility on[10] the planet[12] Kadavo.[10] Warthog joined General Koon's fleet, which included Admiral Barton Coburn and the 104th Battalion, on a mission to rescue them, piloting a Clone Z-95 starfighter. As the men neared the facility, Koon ordered the fighters, including Warthog, to accelerate to attack speed. As they began to eliminate the turret towers as well as the enemy HH-87 Starhoppers, Warthog's fighter suffered damage to its wing. As Warthog struggled to shake his foe, General Koon flew in to shoot down the pursuing fighter. Warthog and the men continued to eliminate their targets until it was safe for Admiral Coburn to maneuver his ship, the Arquitens-class light cruiser[7] Hand of Justice,[13] underneath the facility and rescue the Togrutas.[7]
Personality and traits[]
- "Yeah! That got 'em. Good work, General!"
"Keep your focus, Warthog. Watch out for those towers!" - ―Warthog and Plo Koon
Warthog was a male human clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, and thus[4] stood 1.83 meters (6 ft) tall,[1] weighed 80 kilograms,[3] and had tan skin.[4] He and Plo Koon had a rapport, and the Jedi General would assist him during battles if necessary.[5][7]
Skills and abilities[]
Warthog was a veteran pilot experienced who was highly skilled in combat operations[1] including dogfighting.[7] He had experience flying multiple different starfighters, including the V-19 Torrent starfighter and the Z-95 Headhunter. He could also handle an LAAT/i attack gunship.[1]
Equipment[]
Warthog wore standard clone pilot armor that was similar to Phase I clone trooper armor[5] featuring additional life-support gear and a helmet with improved sensors.[14] Later, during a mission on Kadavo,[7] he wore the updated and improved rig.[14] Warthog customized both versions of his armor with crimson markings on the helmet.[5][7] Like other clone troopers, Warthog had a behavioral modification biochip implanted in his brain by Kaminoan scientists at birth, which ensured that he would comply with certain orders.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
Warthog made his first appearance in "Holocron Heist,"[5] the first episode of the second season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The episode aired on October 2, 2009.[15] He was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, who voiced all the clone troopers in the series.[5]
