The Weapons Depot was a large cache of weapons located on the planet Talus.
History[]
- "We are getting reports that the thugs have already shipped off some things they found at the site. You need to track them down and retrieve what's ours. One is at the starport in Nashal and the other is at what appears to be a Rebel weapon depot."
- ―Omkoo, to a spacer
Originally owned by the Rebel Alliance, it was hotly contested during the Galactic Civil War as the Galactic Empire had been trying to get control of the weapons.[1]
After the Battle of Yavin, the Tralus and Talus Liberation Party,[3] a group fighting for the independence of the Double Worlds from the Corellian system,[4] shipped weapons, medical equipment and valuable artifacts to the weapons depot in order to obtain the support of the Alliance.[3] In 1 ABY,[5] a spacer working for the Aqualish Omkoo fought several TTLP soldiers in the depot to retrieve old artifacts stolen from an Aqualish gravesite.[3]
Following the Battle of Restuss,[6][7] the Rebellion lost control of the weapons depot that became the site of regular fighting between Rebel and Imperial forces. Both factions established small camps nearby to support their assaults.[2][7]
Behind the scenes[]
The Weapons Depot was a location in the 2003 massively multiplayer online roleplaying game Star Wars Galaxies,[1] prior to the game's closure on December 15, 2011.[8] In the earliest version of the game, the Weapons Depot was a Rebel "Factional NPC Base" named Rebel Weapons Depot. Groups of Imperial players could attack Rebel NPCs and achieve several objectives to take control of the base.[9] With the release of the "Chapter 2" update on August 1, 2006,[10] the "Rebel Weapons Depot" was turned into the "Weapons Depot". It became one of the three bases that players of each faction could capture, along with the Naboo Weapons Development Facility and the Corellian Tactical Training Facility.[2]

- ↑ The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
