The Weemell sector was a part of the Core Worlds. It contained the Loedorvia system,[1] which in turn was the site of the celestial body Loedorvia[3] and was home to a population of Humans.[4]
During the Clone Wars, Loedorvia was situated within the borders of the Galactic Republic.[3] Around 20.2 BBY,[5] the astronomical object was the site of[3] a battle between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. During that confrontation, Confederate General Grievous ordered the release of[2] the airborne[4] hive virus[2] disease known as the Brainrot Plague[4] on Loedorvia.[3]
The release of the disease, also known as the Loedorvian Brain Plague, killed tens of thousands of individuals in a single stroke.[6] Before an antidote could be discovered,[2] the resulting outbreak of the disease exterminated all of the Republic's clone trooper forces—as well as nearly every Human—in the Weemell sector.[4] The sector was also rendered temporarily uninhabitable as a result.[7]
Behind the scenes[]
The Weemell sector was first mentioned in Curtis Saxton's 2005 reference book Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections.[8]
