Whiphids were a sentient species of large, furry bipeds that had two large ivory tusks protruding from their lower jaws native to the frozen planet Toola. J'Quille and Valarian were both Whiphids.

Biology and appearance[edit | edit source]

Whiphids were tall, bulky bipeds covered in long, coarse fur[1] which made up shaggy fur coats that protected the species from the freezing weather of their ice and snow habitat.[4] The Whiphid face, which featured retractable eyes, bowed cheekbones and a prominent forehead, was mostly hairless. Two large,[1] up-turned ivory[3] tusks sprouted from the lower jaw.[1] Younglings were much less hairy than their elders.[2] One particular individual, an adult male named J'Quille, stood two meters tall.[1] Their ivory tusks were a desirable material in the galaxy.[3]

Whiphids in the galaxy[edit | edit source]

Shortly before the onslaught of the Clone Wars, a young Whiphid named Jempa was training as an initiate in the Jedi Temple of Coruscant.[5]

During the Galactic Civil War, the Whiphid crime lady Valarian operated on Tatooine, in the Outer Rim Territories. Her lover, a fellow Whiphid named J'Quille, infiltrated the palace of her rival, Jabba the Hutt.[1]
