"As gangs go, the White Worms are nothing compared to one of the big syndicates. But Qi'ra's right. Lady Proxima knows everyone. The White Worms have deep roots on Corellia. Old roots. Proxima has more influence than money. She has connections."
―Han[3]

The White Worms were a criminal organization led by Lady Proxima based on Corellia that existed during the Imperial Era.[3] Also known as the White Worm Gang,[5] its members included the human scrumrats Han, Qi'ra, and Rebolt, as well as the Grindalid enforcer Moloch.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

The White Worms were first mentioned in the 2018 adventure book Choose Your Destiny: A Han & Chewie Adventure, written by Cavan Scott.[1] They first appeared in the 2018 Star Wars Anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story.[2] The gang's name was an homage to Bram Stoker's 1911 novel The Lair of the White Worm.[6]

The White Worms gang costumes that Han and Qi'ra wore on Corellia were influenced by 1970s–80s punk bands like The Clash and the 1960s greaser gang of the 1983 film The Outsiders.[7] In the original script of the film, rather than Grindalids, the White Worms were described as "well-dressed, vampiric albino aliens à la David Bowie in The Hunger." Once former directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller entered the project, it was decided to make the White Worms' members "actual" worms.[6]
