William Hootkins (July 5, 1948–October 23, 2005) was a stage and screen actor, who portrayed Jek Tono Porkins in A New Hope.
Hootkins appeared in two other Lucasfilm productions: He portrayed Major Eaton in 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark (alongside Harrison Ford), and Diaghilev in the 1992 episode "Barcelona, May 1917" of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
Hootkins is also remembered for his role as Gotham City police lieutenant Max Eckhardt in the 1989 film Batman, which featured Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent.
Hootkins died of pancreatic cancer in Santa Monica, California on October 23, 2005.
