Windy was a childhood friend of Luke Skywalker, a human male moisture farmer from Tatooine who later joined the Rebel Alliance. Other members of this circle of friends included Biggs Darklighter, Camie Marstrap, Deak, and Laze Loneozner.[1]

Behind the scenes

The character of Windy first appeared in some of the earliest drafts for Star Wars.[2] The character did not make the cut of the final film of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, but appeared in deleted scenes[3] and appeared in a number of Star Wars Legends stories, variously as Windom Marstrap and Windy Starkiller.[4] The character also appears in Star Wars (LINE Webtoon), which was released after the April 25, 2014 announcement of a new continuity of canon.[5] However, this tale has been described as being in a "grey area" of canon by Lucasfilm Ltd., due to the room given to the author and artist for cultural interpretation.[6]
