The winged xendrite was an insectivore native to Xend. It was exported to various planets throughout the galaxy in attempts to control insect infestations.
Biology and appearance[]
The winged xendrite had small legs and a prehensile tail that they used to secure themselves to branches or structures. They would then use their sticky tongue to catch insects.[1]
Behavior[]
It was initially believed that the xendrites hunted using a net or sieve approach where they would randomly stick out their tongue to catch anything in the way but it was later determined they were targeting the prey with a 98% accuracy rate.[1]
History[]
Xendrites were often used as pest control on other worlds, but this often led to the problem of overpopulation. On Sirdar, the creatures were introduced to eliminate insects but caused extreme environmental damage with their feces. They also developed into huge flocks that blocked out the sun. The Governor of Sirdar hired Yosev Seville and her crew to rid his planet of the creatures for a fee of 25 million credits.[1]
