Wookieepedia's interview and creator interaction policy defines the procedures for engaging with Star Wars creators, established as anyone who has worked on an official Star Wars product. This policy also details how Wookieepedia interviews are to be carried out.
General rules
- Star Wars creators should be treated with respect, and egregious behavior—as defined by the user conduct policy—may result in action by the administration.
- Before uploading any form of private communication as a citation to Wookieepedia, Star Wars creators should be made explicitly aware of their messages being made public, and their consent must be obtained.
- On occasion, Star Wars creators may reveal information or lore within Discord messages of their own volition. In these cases, the rules outlined on the Discord screenshots page govern whether a message can be used as a citation on Wookieepedia.
- The UTC timezone should be used as standard for determining which day a message or other communication should be attributed to, as this echoes the timezone used by Wookieepedia itself.
Interviews
- Interviews intended for release on Wookieepedia's social media accounts should only be conducted with official Star Wars creators, for the purpose of learning more about the creation and development of Star Wars content. These interviews must be conducted with at least one Social Media Team member's involvement to be labeled as an official Wookieepedia interview.
- Non-Social Media Team members may be invited to participate in interviews created for Wookieepedia's social media, particularly if an editor is a subject matter expert. However, by participating, they waive their right to request the interview be taken down in the future, pursuant to the rules regarding original content created for Wookieepedia.
- Pursuant to the point of contact rules governing the Social Media Team, individual Wookieepedia editors should not be mentioned by name by interviewers during an interview without their explicit consent.
- Interviewers may release an open call for questions before an interview is conducted to allow the community input on the question list posed to the Star Wars creator. However, final question selection is subject to the approval of the creator being interviewed, Lucasfilm and/or its licensees, and the Social Media Team member carrying out the interview.
- Wookieepedia's interviews should use {{WookYouTube}} or {{WookCite}} as standard. In the case of a live interview conducted via Wookieepedia's Discord, the transcript should instead be posted so that {{WookCite}} may be used, with the usernames of individual Wookieepedians removed unless their explicit consent has been given.
- Completed interviews should be listed in the "External links" section of the interviewee's article, in accordance with the Layout Guide.
Email and direct message citations
- Either {{Email}} or {{DM}} should be used appropriately in the
|attention=
field of the {{Information}} template, while {{EmailCite}} and {{DMCite}} should be used for citation usage. - Ideally, email communications should be forwarded to the Social Media Team's email (wookieepediasmt@gmail.com) for archival and verification of the email's validity. The Wookieepedia community, particularly the article-reviewing panels through the article-nomination processes, may judge the validity of emails that have not been forwarded to the Social Media Team for archival and/or come from an email address not publicly attributable to the Star Wars creator in question.
Legacy content
Per CT link, interviews created under Wookieepedia's former interview policy, as well as other emails and messages uploaded for use as citations, are considered "grandfathered in" and are therefore not subject to the same requirements as content uploaded past May 9, 2025.
