Ten years ago, on March 4, 2005, a new Star Wars community was created. This community started with editors from Wikipedia who wanted to write Star Wars pages beyond the scope of Wikipedia, so they created this new site. In a nod to their Wikipedia origins, they called their new site Wookieepedia.
Over the next ten years, Wookieepedia has grown from being a small project into one of the largest fan communities on Wikia. It is now the largest Star Wars encyclopedia in the world, and an invaluable source of information for Star Wars fans, and even the writers and creators of official Star Wars content consult our site from time to time.
Today, we've grown to over 117,000 pages, but this is still just the beginning. There's an exciting new future for the Star Wars franchise that none of us could have anticipated ten years ago, and Wookieepedia is here to document it.
To celebrate, Wikia has created this Wookieepedia Tenth Anniversary Timeline, charting the biggest moments in Wookieepedia and Star Wars history. You can click each pin to see which events they correspond to. We'll be adding more pins to mark important moments, and you can, too! Thanks for being a part of our first ten years, and all the years to come!
