This page or section is an official policy on Wookieepedia.

It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone must follow. Please use the Consensus track to propose changes to this policy.

Template:Shortcut This page is for the nomination of new userboxes.

Before you create

Before you propose a userbox, read the following:

  1. No nonsense or joke templates. What you think may be funny may not be to everyone else, so it's best to just keep it on your userpage.
  2. If you are creating a Star Wars themed userbox, try and keep it OOU (i.e. "This user is a fan of Jedi" is good, but "This user is a member of the New Jedi Order" is not).
  3. Any offensive/racist/provocative userbox proposals will be deleted on sight, and the user warned. If the user persists, he will be banned.
  4. Due to being inflammatory, any religious and political userboxes that are nominated here will be automatically rejected, so don't bother.
  5. When nominating a template, keep in mind that the template will be for community use, not just your exclusive use. As a rule of thumb, if you think at least 10 people will use your idea, nominate it. If not, it's best left as code on your userpage.

To use this page:

  1. Use the current date as a header, and add the code of the proposed userbox underneath (use the following syntax: {{userbox|color1|color2|text-left|text-main}}).
  2. Multiple userbox proposals should be presented separately so that the community can vote on each userbox based on its individual merit. Up to three userboxes may be presented for approval under one vote, if and only if, they are closely related in theme or are proposed as alternatives.
  3. Add sections underneath for "Support", "Object", and "Comments". Your fellow Wookieepedians will use these sections to support, oppose, or comment on your design.
  4. Once a majority has been reached, and two weeks have passed, the userbox will be created as a template for use in the community. If the nomination fails, the template must not be created regardless. If it is, then it will be deleted on sight, and the offender warned.

Maybe not the place to put this, but I figured it's more approriate here than anywhere else. How does everybody feel about replacing the text in the browser userboxes with the relevant logos which we can obtain from Wikipedia:

Obviously the Lynx one would stay as it is because there isn't a logo. I would have done examples of them all but I couldn't be bothered to upload the pictures if people were going to vote against it (hey, I'm lazy) so as an example (courtesy of Aron Skywalker):

  • A fandom user-box for those who like the cantina band. I figured since there are user boxes for supperters of the Empire, Republic, Hapans, and what not, there should also be one for diggers of jizz. I was going to call it "This user digs Jizz", but it could be misunderstood. It's kept in brown and beige to emulate the color scheme of the cantina sequence.
  • I don't think we need a "support" box for every single organization in the history of the Galaxy. That kind of stuff should be limited to custom-made userboxes. Looks good though! Maclimes Zero (talk) File:Infinite Empire.png 23:18, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
  • I made myself a "this user's favorite band is the Max Rebo band" and didn't propose it as a box. If this one gets accepted then we'll have to make some more music ones. I say it's better as just a box you have on your page.--Darth Phonebook 01:19, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Fair enough comments, most of which I agree with. I posted this mainly as a sort of reation to all the other accepted IU-supporter-boxes.... but if this doesn't get accepted, then should all other IU-boxes be deleted? KEJ 09:16, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
    • No, we can keep the most common ones, but making IU boxes on every single thing is unneeded. -- Riffsyphon1024 09:23, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
      • What do you mean by 'common ones'? KEJ 09:25, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
        • Like "Users that support Wookiees" or "Users that support the Galactic Empire". -- Riffsyphon1024 09:28, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
          • Ah, okay. Well, there's no big difference between that and this one, except, maybe, that there are more users who support Wookiees than users who dig jizz? KEJ 12:04, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
            • Partly, but also once we start making support boxes for all the smaller and less known groups and organizations it'll get out of hand. --Darth Phonebook 01:28, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
              • I still don't the se principal difference between this and the other "supporter" boxes, but I essentially agree with you. To be honest, I'd do away with all IU supporter boxes. KEJ 11:15, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

  • I don't know if this is too controversial. I also don't know about the pink-red pattern. But I would certainly use this userbox (in dact I am presently using a blue version of it). KEJ 18:36, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
  • This is the kind of thing that can be represented using a custom-made user box. As near as I can tell, the main function of the userbox is to help users find like-minded Wookiepedians (fellow Fleet junkies, fellow RPG players, etc). Besides, this is canonical information. We might as well make a userbox that says "This User supports the 900km Death Star II diameter". (That said, I am so stealing this for my user page! :D ) Maclimes Zero (talk) File:Infinite Empire.png 19:36, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
    • But the fleet-junkie box has been officially accepted. Besides there are many official user-boxes whose functions are "to help users find like-minded Wookieepedians". However, I'm beginning to see a problem with the user-box myself. As I said it could be controversial to some since it is a reference to the entire gender-sexism debate thin going on with the Exile. But it could also be a precedent for "Fandalorian", "Talifan", etc userboxes, which could refuel the fire for that stupid Talifan-Fandalorian war. Then again, there are several other fandom user-boxes, and this one is technically no different. KEJ 09:23, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
    • I might use it, but I'm not particularly keen on the color scheme. How about one of these?

  • Coment to Wildyoda: I am very aware the the femile Exile is canonical. In case you haven't noticed, it caused somewhat of a rift in the fan community (fortunately, not as big a rift as the stupid fandalorian-talifan thing), so it might actually mean something to someone whether they support the canonization of the female Exile or not. By the way, what do you mean by "there's a little thing called canon?". KEJ 20:41, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

  • The purpose of this user box is to allow Wookieepedians to quickly and easily access each others' blogs on StarWars.com. The external link in the userbox named "blog", which now links to StarWars.com's general blog section, is intended to be the url of the individual blog. The user box is presently brown and beige to emulate the color patterns of the star Wars blogs. See it "at work" here. KEJ 18:03, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
  • I don't care for the image. It's out of sync with the standard 40px width of most userbox images. However, I support the idea. So I'll throw my vote in, but I recommend a better pic. Maclimes Zero (talk) File:Infinite Empire.png 18:15, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

  1. We'd need far too many nationality boxes to make this worthwhile. You can always just use the same code on your own page. Cortle Steeze 10:28, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
