X-Wing Rogue Squadron 2, also labeled as "The Rebel Opposition, Chapter 2", is the second issue in the Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron series of comics. It was released by Dark Horse Comics on August 8, 1995.

Publisher's summary[]

When Rogue Squadron leader Wedge Antilles is downed in a bloody battle against Imperial All Terrain Scout Transports, he is forced to form an uneasy alliance with the Cilpari natives, whose dislike for the Rebels is only dwarfed by their hatred for the Empire. Wedge must regroup Rogue Squadron before the Cilpari alliance is shattered, and rejoin the battle to save the galaxy!

Plot summary[]

As Imperial Moff Boren Tascl attacks the Cilpari Resistance and their Rebel allies, Wedge Antilles and Elscol Loro come upon an ancient temple. The group hides in the temple, but Antilles asserts that it won't take long for the Empire to snuff them out. Loro allows the rebels their weapons, which they use to detonate a junk pile full of gas from decomposition, destroying a walker and allowing their escape.[3]

Tycho Celchu and Wes Janson confront the woman who appears to be Leia Organa. She is actually Rebel operative Winter, an aide of Organa's who is often mistaken for her. After saving them from a ronk, Winter explains the situation, telling how Moff Tascl nearly gave up local Imperial facilities to the Alliance before rescinding the deal after news of the Emperor's death.[3]

Elsewhere, as Loro and the rebels fight Imperial forces and retreat into their cover, rebel reinforcements of X-Wings arrive, allowing Antilles and the others to return to their base west of Kiidan. Antilles and Loro allow Groznik and Dllr Nep to coordinate their defenses as the two groups discuss their next move. Antilles elaborates on a woman named "Targeter" whom the rebels were supposed to meet but never heard from, and asks Loro if Groznik could know about her. Loro doubts that Groznik would tell her and Cilpari resistance member Vance Rego doubts "Targeter" is alive.[3]

Antilles, Loro, Rego and Groznik make their way back to the temple with captured Imperial speeders. Using an oratay disc to scatter the resident ronks, the team enters and fights an empty self-activated Imperial space trooper armor suit.[3]

At Kiidan, Tycho Celchu in an Imperial disguise approaches a group of Imperial officers to report for duty. Correctly accusing Celchu of being an Alderaanian, Petro is attacked by Celchu, but the fight is broken up and Celchu joins Crimson Squadron. Major Grode arrives and accepts Celchu, allowing him to fly with Crimson Squadron in a TIE fighter.[3]
